PoliticsUNGA74: Edo State Governor, Obaseki, Booed In New York [VIDEO] by State001(op): 1:22pm On Sep 25, 2019
Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has been publicly disgraced and humiliated in New York at the ongoing 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA74).

In a video exclusively obtained by Igbere TV on Wednesday, chants of “Obaseki Ole” [thief] rented the air, as the people, angered by his frequent travels overseas, mocked the Governor.

One of the visibly angry protesters at the scene reminded the Governor to take note of the quality of roads in New York where he was lodged into a seven-star hotel paid for by public funds.

The angry crowd mocked the Governor over the “poor road constructions” in Edo State where he govern, accusing him of awarding contracts to his friends who carry out mere ‘road dressing’ instead of any real construction work.

This comes days after a heavy downpour washed away more than seven newly constructed roads in Benin City, the Edo State capital; even as erosion continues to wash away more houses, roads.

“Barely 20minutes ago, the men of the Nigeria Customs were in hot pursuit of a Sienna bus allegedly carrying rice.

“The customs officers were able to double cross the vehicle right at the front of the Bovas Filling Station. The occupants of the Sienna bus resisted attempts and this led the men of the Customs to open fire on them.

“The bullets didn't penetrate. Along the line, one of the bullets hit an Okada rider...

“Onlookers attempted rescuing the man but the customs officer started shooting at them. They sprayed till they exhausted their bullets and fled.

“This is the country we found ourselves!!!

“We demand justice for the slained (sic) young man.

“This happened in Oyo town, Oyo State. Presently, the family and friends of the stained man are at the Ojongbodu police station, Oyo demanding justice.”

PoliticsXenophobia: S’African Man Shares Experience He Had In The Hands Of A Nigerian by State001(op):
A South African man, Mr Jason Jetnarayan, has been left disappointed at the fallout xenophobia caused in Japan - where he resides.

According to Jetnarayan, a Manchester United fan, he had gone to a pub to watch the recent match between his team and Leicester.

Taking to his social media page, he said he met a Nigerian who was also there at the football viewing centre.

Jetnarayan, however, said he felt ashamed of his country after the man refused him a seat next to time owing to the xenophobic attacks in his country home.

“The pub was busy and there weren’t any seats available, but I looked around and spotted a black gentleman in a Manchester United jersey with open seats at his table.

“I approached him to let him know my friend and I were Manchester supporters too and asked permission to join him.

“He gave us his approval in an African accent. As a proud African myself, I was excited about this because Africans are rare here. So I ask him where he was from. He said ‘Nigeria’ and reciprocated the question. I extended my hand and excitedly told him I was South African. He didn’t believe me until I proved it to him, showing him my ID as I beat my chest with pride.

“However, he didn’t seem to share the sentiment by the look of it.

“He was visibly upset, and made a statement about South Africans not being his brothers. I immediately realise he was referring to the xenophobic attacks that have unfortunately occurred in SA for the last decade, and only seem to be getting worse.”

Jetnarayan said he felt a sense of uneasiness, which he described as “a sinking feeling in my chest”.

“The pride I felt a moment before sharply deteriorated into one of shame.

“I, for one, have never taken issue with immigrants in my country or any other. I am in no manner responsible for the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, yet I apologised to the gentleman as he got up to leave the bar, having made the choice he would rather not be affiliated with a South African.

“We’re failing our brothers and sisters in Africa, we’re failing our women, we’re failing our children. We need to be better. We need to fight for our people and speak out against atrocities committed on our land, or else we too are part of the problem.

“Let’s be the resolution.”

In his fourth year in Japan, Jetnarayan spoke of his experiences as a foreigner there.

“Japanese people’s perceptions of SA are very uneducated and come across as ignorant.

“They find it hard to understand how an Indian or white can come from Africa. And racism isn’t a prominent topic for them.

“They often don’t know they’re being racist. But I don’t blame them, they live in a very isolated society and are mostly exposed to domestic media only, whereas foreigner perceptions of SA are influenced by movies like District 9, sports, celebrities like Trevor Noah, or apartheid or Mandela.”

PoliticsOndo Police Speaks On Death Of Over Thirty Cows by State001(op): 3:48am On Sep 23, 2019
The Ondo State Police Command has described the 'sudden death' of over thirty cattle in the state as "natural disaster".

The police also debunked reports making the rounds that they may have been poisoned by rural farmers.

A strange thunder caused apprehension at Ijare community in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state after striking the cows to death.

Some herdsmen were said to have climbed to the top of Oke-Owa hill in the community to graze their cows when lightning struck the herds to death.

The hill, according to reports, is a sacred place where the king of the community performs some rituals annually.

An online newspaper quoted sources in the community as saying the incident was the wrath of their gods on the herdsmen.

The source quoted the sources as saying that the gods were angry because herdsmen desecrated the sacred land.

The herdsmen were said to have been warned against grazing on the sacred mountain by the community’s chiefs, but that they were adamant.

Reacting, High Chief Wemimo Olaniran, the Sapetu of Ijare kingdom, said the incident was not strange to the community.

Olaniran said similar events had happened to people who desecrated the sacred mountain in the past.

But the spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Femi Joseph, in a short text message, described the incident as a natural disaster.

A 59-year-old retiree, Michael Oshodin, has landed into trouble for allegedly duping unsuspecting employment seekers into the University of Benin N1.2 million.

Oshodin, an ex-staff of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), was paraded at the Edo State Police Command on Friday, September 20.

Our correspondent who covered the parade, said the suspect was alleged to have collected the sums from over 25 persons whom he promised to help secure employment at UNIBEN.

Speaking with journalists at the Force headquarters in Benin, Oshodin said he was contracted by one Christy Ikeke-Oni, a staff of UNIBEN, in the Department of Theatre Art, to recruit employment seekers into the school.

He, however, said that the said Christy suddenly died two months ago after he had given her all the money he collected from his victims.

“The people have been begging me to help them find job and I decided to help them when opportunity came. I gave Christy all the money I collected from them”, he said.

“She [Christy] died two months ago. That was why this problem came up.

“I was walking inside UNIBEN when one of the victims saw me and raised the alarm. I gave the deceased’s UNIBEN staff N1.2 million. I already told them I will pay them back, but I need little time,” Oshodin added.
