PoliticsFG Kicks Off Road For Tax Refund Projects by statisticianmusa(op): 1:30pm On Feb 19, 2019
The Federal Government has flagged-off its roads for tax-refund initiative with Dangote Construction handling a 16-kilometre Ofeme Community road network in Ohuhu in Umuahia North local Government, Abia State.

The community road project which is expected to be delivered under the FG’s Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme enables private sector like Dangote, Unilever, NLBG and others to invest in road construction, making it possible to upgrade access roads to industrial and manufacturing clusters and reduce cost of transportation which results into reduction in the cost of food and other services, thereby curbing inflation.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Ofeme Abia state, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelemah, called on the people to give the contractor the needed cooperation to enable it complete the road project in record time of one year stated in the contractual agreement.

Also speaking, the Federal Controller of Works, Abia State, Engr. Nwankwo Chuwudike, who represented the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Raji Fashola, said “the road would not only enhance the standard of living of the Ofeme community, it would also lead to reduction in the cost of transportation and ultimately help in poverty reduction.”

He called on the people of Ofeme to own the project while also “appealing to all road users, and the youths of this community to be supportive, patient and mindful of road diversions during construction, while we hold the contractors to their bond of timely and quality delivery of this service.”

Federal Government recently resolved to continue with massive infrastructural development across the country under Executive Order #007 signed by President Muhammadu Buhari in January. Six private sector players will execute 19 road projects under the Executive Order 7. They are Dangote Industries Limited; Lafarge Africa Plc; Unilever Nigeria Plc; Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc; Nigeria LNG Limited; and China Road and Bridge Corporation Nigeria Limited.

These Investors will be investing in 19 Eligible Road Pilot scheme projects, totalling 794.4km which have been prioritised in 11 States across each of the 6 Geo-Political Zones.

The Minister of Finance Mrs Zainab Ahmed who chairs the Scheme’s management committee said that “Executive Order #007 of 2019 on the Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme will incentivise private sector investment in Nigerian roads across key economic corridors and industrial clusters, relieving the Government of the burden of funding the initial outlays for these investments.”

PoliticsBreaking: Appeal Court Sacks Balogun-fulani’s Kwara APC Executives by statisticianmusa(op): 1:21pm On Feb 19, 2019
. Affirms Bolarinwa as authentic Kwara APC chair
. Balogun-Fulani dissatisfied with judgement

Court of Appeal sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital on Tuesday sacked the Hon Ishola Balogun-Fulani faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The court thereafter affirmed the authenticity of the Hon Bashir Bolarinwa-led APC executives in the state.

A Kwara state High Court had December 19th last year ruled that the dissolved Ishola Balogun-Fulani executive is the authentic exco of the APC in the state.

The lower court thus nullified any candidate produced by the Bashir Bolarinwa executives for the forthcoming elections.

Dissatisfied by the judgement of the lower court, the APC (appellant) approached the appellate court for redress.

The appellants’ grounds of appeal are that “the claimants cannot join the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the state High court because INEC is a Federal Government agency; the amendment of
their originating summons was brought in bad faith.

“They brought issues that were not in existence as at the time of filing the suit originally. Even though the lower court has discretion, but its discretion must be exercised judicially and judiciously which was not done in this circumstance.”

The appellate court in an interlocutory judgement it delivered last week upheld the nomination of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the state APC governorship candidate.

Reading his judgement on the main appeal Justice Ibrahim Salauwa set aside the judgement of the lower court and upheld the Bashir Bolainwa-led executives.

He added there would be no reason to deliver a judgement on the same matter with the same parties after the interlocutory judgement of last week.

Justice Salauwa added that it “would amount to share fruitless academic exercise which the courts are not meant for.”

Reacting to the judgement, counsel to Hon Bolarinwa, Kamaldeen Gambari said that “what transpired is the affirmation of the interlocutory judgement which this court delivered sometime last week.

“It said the originating process of Ishola Balogun-Fulani is incurably defective. The state High Court has no jurisdiction to go ahead in the matter.”

APC counsel, Lawal Jimoh said that the judgement “has laid to rest all the controversies about the judgement of the Kwara state High Court delivered December 19th last year. It nullified the total judgement.

The issue of Hon Ishola Balogun-Fulani parading himself as the APC chairman has been laid to rest.

“This judgement further solidifies that primaries of APC held in October last year in the state. There is no controversy at all. As of today the APC in Kwara state can go and sleep when it comes to the issue of factionalisation of the party or not.

“The court by that judgement affirmed the authenticity of Hon Bashir Bolarinwa-led executives of APC in the state and of course all the candidates that emerged from the primaries that were held by the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC in October 2018 remain valid.”

Counsel to Ishola Balogun-Fulani, Abdulazeez Ibrahim expressed his dissatisfaction with the judgement. Ibrahim added that “the judgement is a simple one, because the issues were trashed at the interlocutory stage. That is supposed not to be the case. The decision in the interlocutory appeal has determined even the main appeal that was delivered today.

“So we are not satisfied about that judgement. And we have appealed against the interlocutory judgement delivered last week. So we are going to appeal against the judgement just delivered today again.”

PoliticsFMBN Approves Rent-to-own Housing Scheme For Workers by statisticianmusa(op): 9:10am On Aug 13, 2018
The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) is to commence the implementation of a Rent-To-Own Housing Scheme.
This follows the approval of the plan that will provide affordable houses for Nigeria workers, by the board of the organization.
The FMBN Rent-to-Own scheme is an innovative, affordable housing product, which provides an easy and convenient payment plan towards home ownership for Nigerian workers, according to a statement by Spokesman of the organization Mr. Zubaida Umar.
He said: “The scheme is specifically designed to make it possible for Nigerian workers to move into FMBN homes as tenants, pay for and own the properties through monthly or yearly rent payments spread over periods of up to 30-years.
“It will also attract a single digit interest rate of nine per cent on the price of the property on an annuity basis. The product will cover properties with the maximum value of N15million.”
The rent-to-own housing product targets Nigerian workers who are contributors to the National Housing Fund (NHF) and will be implemented in phases. About 3,000 houses are planned for the pilot phase.
To deliver on the rent-to-own housing scheme, FMBN will partner with reputable estate developers for the construction of quality, cost-effective housing stock nationwide.
Payments for the houses will be domiciled with the CBN through the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
Properties that are planned for the rent-to-own scheme are Existing Estates that are funded by FMBN nationwide and non-funded estates.
Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FMBN Dangiwa Ahmed said “the rent-to-own is yet another ground breaking initiative of the bank that is targeted at increasing access to affordable housing by Nigerian workers who fall into the low-medium income brackets.”
“The rent-to-own housing product is designed to make sure that any worker who collects a salary should be able to live in his own home and pay conveniently over periods as long as 30-years! This is a massive relief especially given how little workers earn. I am delighted that we have successfully added this product to the many other initiatives that we have made possible to make home ownership a lot easier for Nigerian workers”.
He added that the implementation of the scheme would eliminate the burden of equity contributions by workers for housing loans, complement the existing products of the bank by widening the home ownership bracket, increase housing stock, and help the bank to utilize abandoned estates that are to be transferred to the scheme.
The CEO commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to the development of housing and the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola for his continued support for the ongoing reforms to re-position FMBN on the path of efficiency and impact.

PoliticsDaura: PDP Charges Buhari, APC To Speak Out On Alleged N21b Loot by statisticianmusa(op): 8:57am On Aug 12, 2018
“Nigerians are already aware of the leaked memo detailing alleged underhand oil contracts to the tune of N9 trillion at the NNPC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, challenged President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to speak out on the N21 billion, guns and thousands of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) allegedly found in the residence of the sacked Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura. The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the alleged discovery has exposed the hypocrisy of the Buhari administration. The opposition party stated that it had become obvious to the world that the Presidency had been using its “much hyped fight against corruption and sustained harassment of opposition as a cover to divert public attention from alleged humongous stealing within the government.”

It added that while the Presidency and the ruling party were harassing members of the opposition on trumped-up corruption charges, their agents were busy frittering away and warehousing trillions of naira to fund their re-election in 2019 and wasteful lifestyles. The party said: “Today, the sneaky ways of this Presidency have further been exposed and it must not in any way seek to disown the sacked DSS DG as Nigerians already know that he was merely one out of the numerous agents being used by the APC and Presidency cabal in their nefarious activities, including warehousing money, fake PVCs and weapons to be unleashed during the 2019 elections.

“What the APC and the Buhari Presidency should note is the eternal reality that though the truth may be suppressed for a while, it always has a way of showing itself to light at the end.
“Nigerians are already aware of the leaked memo detailing alleged underhand oil contracts to the tune of N9 trillion at the NNPC and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, which are under the direct supervision of Mr. President.
“They are already aware of the alleged stealing of over N25 billion meant for the health needs of the people, from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and how the indicted and suspended Executive Secretary was recalled by Mr. President.

“They are aware of the alleged diversion of crude oil worth N1.1 trillion, using 18 unregistered companies; the diversion of N18 billion Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) funds and billions of unremitted revenue from sale of crude for which there have been deadlock at the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), all of which are being swept under the carpet by the Buhari Presidency.
“The time is ripe for the Buhari Presidency and its disintegrating APC to tell the nation how these corruption acts were allegedly perpetrated under an administration that lay claim to integrity.”
