BlueMagnificent:I know what SDL is. I was only using it as an anology. The way many devs choose SFML over SDL. That 's how wxWidgets is to Qt. Well maybe wxWidgets got updated recently but there is always this feeling I get when I'm using it like it some super ancient stuff waiting to die. ![]() The ease at which one can create custom interfaces in Qt pretty much beats all reasons for using wxWidgets for me. The signal and slot, the Qmake, the IDE and a lot of other goodies just makes C++ GUI dev on Qt a breeze. I believe wxWidgets is also nice, but I still don't see what it does that Qt framework doesn't do or better. And there's this incredible Qt tutorial by VoidRealms on Youtube that makes Qt very very approachable for beginners. But like always, a man to his tool. One should settle with what makes him comfy the most. ![]() You might be wondering with all these slight advantages that qt "seems" to have over wxWidgets, why would people not just jump to Qt and dump wxWidgets. Well, for those in the open source community, both users and developers, license matters alot, I know it might sound crazy but it can ruin a project if not taken seriously. I currently contribute to an opensource project where GPL and L-GPL libraries are forbidden. Some people feel ok going for wxWidgets because of the license it offers, others a comfortable with that of Qt.You call those mega awesome list of advantages "slight". ![]() Qt also has an LGPL license. Believe me those are one of the first things I check for before using a library or framework. Don't wanna get caught in legal battles later. |
KingEbukasBlog:Where is the stats please. Many touts an prostitutes I've seen, though behave badly, still believe in some god. Or at the very least believe in some spiritual realm and beings. I'm sure many will agree with me. Well except you are living in some place other than Nigeria. Anyway you need to understand that being logical is the reason why I believe in GodHahaha! How is the existence of your god logical at all. The bible that claims his existence is in fact illogical in itself. I'm sure you have seen a lot of questions posed by many atheists/agnostics here. And yet there is no logical answer to any. |
KingEbukasBlog:Just the same way you said "There are more uneducated benighted atheists than educated ones anyway". As long as we are arguing logically you can only eventually resort to strawman tactics or just stay silent. That's what you guys do anyway. |
KingEbukasBlog:Dude. They are religious. Simple. That they are touts or prostitutes; that they stay in beer parlours; that they do not listen to your preachings does not mean they don't believe in God. Where TF are you taking this anyway? Where did you get "The lack of belief in a deity =! Being Logical"? When did I mention anything like that? And why are you relating it with nymphs and touts? Anyway you need to understand that being logical is the reason why I don't believe in abrahamic god. The same applies for many other atheist. |
Qt is awesome. I always get the feeling that wxWidget will eventually fall out of favor the way SDL is now. If you want a long-term library support, I suggest going with Qt. And Qt is not even hard as many people put it to be. Qt Creator makes it a mile easy to code GUI than tools for wxWidget. Also, wxWidget was designed to produce the native look while in Qt coding custom interfaces is a delight. There is also pyQt, for python devs. And finally the documentation for Qt is adequate and reliable and the docs come with the application. wxWidget however has a lot of outdated docs lying around the internet. |
promise101:Come on, why are you guys arguing with each other na? Every person understands a storybook differently. If one persons understand it as "Jesus floated on the water" and the other understands it as "Jesus glided on the water". It's not all bad. We have different brains after all. Well as for me I like to see it as "Jesus dived into the water". He was probably looking for piranhas. |
KingEbukasBlog:There are more uneducated benighted atheists. Really? The reason most atheist/agnostics in Nigeria are who they are now is because they are educated. Nigeria is a place where one is born into a religion, and since there are many uneducated people in Nigeria. There are equally many uneducated christains, muslims, etc. And seriously though, you guys make sense, except that it is a very small tiny little sense. Like I always say. Stick with your storybook, let me stick with logic. |
**** |
Amberon:Fallacy. When did I say I lie to people that I'm a christain? I actually consider your life pathetic cos I've seen the truth and I'm FREE! Stick with your storybook, let me stick to my logic. |

Kenny4lyfe:Don't be surprised, the religious section is where we atheists and agnostics are free to post our thoughts about religion. Hopefully, one day, we will get to speak proudly in public. That time is not now, but it will come. The juice moving religion is running out. |
CodeHouse:I thought I was the only one realizing that. Jelo is someone I know. However, that won't stop me from expressing my mind. The GUI is not all that interesting or particularly consistent. Maybe that is what the client wants. But this is definitely not exceptional. |
stephenmorris:At first I was scared to tell anyone. I felt they will attack me or stay away from me. Then there was a time I just didn't care and I made everyone around me know. My mum was really pissed. She is still making me go to church. I don't stay with my dad, so I give little shit about what he thinks about it. Well it is not the same as before, my friends now see an agnostic in their midst. And they don't like bringing up religious issues around me cos I will argue. I can't help listening to bullshit. However, I won't advice someone whose dad is an evangelist to come out when he is still under dad. |
And one day religion will be the last thing people care about. |
Gombs:You looked into an ancient piece of relic (that is called The Bible) and you tell someone else that he is wrong, because the relic says you are right? Interesting logic. BTW, my soul belongs to the flying spaghetti monster already. I signed the contract yesterday. Unlike your awful religion, there is no hell. There is, however, a roller coaster ride for eternity. ![]() |
KingEbukasBlog:I like how you always try to manoeuvre around questions using strawman tactics. Except that it is feeling kinda old now. You try as much not to let atheist/agnost questions cross the threshold of your belief. So you act as if a question was never asked by clouding it with a new question or an answer that diverges from the original question. You said christainity started after the death of christ. Ok, why then is the Old testament always quoted in churches? Why is it a major reference for christain culture. |
You know something that is funny about you Christians. You try to find logic to explaining what is essentially illogical. At first you are like, it's fire and then a logical question comes up, and you are like it's a different type of fire. You guys are truly unsure of what you are following but you get the felling that it is there. Well unexplained feelings are not very helpful. The feelings should to be examined and explained thoroughly, not just dismiss it with a simple , non-sensible explanation. Which is what the bible is. I can have a strange feeling in my belly and just dismiss that it is the devil dancing in my stomach and therefore pray to god about it. Or I could go to a doctor to get examined based on collections of logical and physical studies done through the years. I was at a burial yesterday and I listened as the pastor ranted on and on about afterlife and people all sober and listening with rapt attention. I shook my head. This people have no clue that there is simply no afterlife. There is no soul. There is only one life to live. This mentality of afterlife has made a lot people redundant to productivity. They simply accept their situation, quoting some verses in the Bible to console themselves about a better place after death where they will live happily ever after. Tell me how this doesn't sound like a Cinderella story. The interesting part is, there are two groups of Christains. The educated ones and the uneducated ones. The educated ones try to use logic and science to explain a lot of illogical mysteries about the Bible. The uneducated ones however, do not bother to explain anything. They know little about science. They believe god is in the sky. They believe heaven is in the sky and that hell is perhaps beneath the earth. They don't even know how the bible came about. They don't even know how Christainity came to Nigeria. They probably never bothered to ask. It doesn't feel right when an atheist/agnost asks them certain brain-probing questions because some questions are better left unasked. They are scared of blasphemy and they watch what they say to avoid rejection. At the end of the day, educated and uneducated alike resort to the basal way of explaining phenomena with a book written thousands of years ago. Or was it? What if through those years some people edited the wordings of the Bible? What if some contexts were lost to translations. Who knows? Either way, just believe. Well they forget some of us like to ask questions. We are passionate about how things work rather than just knowing they work. |
Anayordike:Godammit! One of these stupid unintelligible rants again. BTW, keyboard developers are responsible for providing the dictionary their keyboard use for suggestions or auto-correct. And stop fu*king generalising the problem to a whole operating system or a set of devices. If your keyboard app is buggy, then get a new one on playstore. Tweak the settings to your liking and stay happy. Kehinde is not English. And auto-correct or suggestions is not there to automatically improve your English, it only helps with preventing misspellings and to suggest the next possible word. Do a fu*king research before posting this kind of things. Sh*t! I just wasted 10 minutes of my life reading this crap, another 10 minutes typing this. Now let me go and waste 60 more minutes at the petrol station. |
This naira go fall on my head if I no dodge o. |
You can't judge thousands of guys based on 2 samples. And this led me to think that you just are looking for attention. Well it is working. Congrats. |
........... Half of a Yellow Sun, Green White Green. If this continues, War will come. Many people will cry, Many people will perish. Innocent and guilty, Nigerian and Biafran. At the end of the day. Nothing is achieved, nothing is left. Only ruins and regret. ........... |
One thing caught my attention though. The tribalistic war on this thread only involves two tribes the Igbos and the Yorubas. Where are the Hausa? Is the academic tussle between the Igbos and the Yorubas alone? There should be Hausas here to defend their academic excellence given they are nearly more than the two other tribes combined. |
My $0.02 is Why can't we stop this nonsense and just marry ourselves. ![]() Me I don't want war o. The Nigerian government are not going to give in, that one is for sure. The Biafra people will keep returning, even if this one dies down. So let's just marry each other and forget about this concentration of any tribe in any location in Nigeria. We need to understand that war is not a funny matter when it comes. Well sha, I don dey pack my load small small. War comes, I goes. ![]() |
TheGoodJoe:Well your quotation is very incomplete Oga. Naomi Kraker, administrative manager in an email to The Herald said, “As a matter of policy, the Clay Mathematics Institute does not comment on solutions to the Millennium Problems. The current status of the problems and complete information about each, can be found atSo what were you saying again. |
TheGoodJoe:Dude did you even check Claymath site before storming over here to make a comment. Dr. Enoch may have a proof, but according to Claymath, the hypothesis still remains unsolved. Nigerians sha! |
If anything this story is gathering traction on the internet. International news sites like UK telegraph www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/nigeria/12000314/The-Riemann-Hypothesis-solution-found-by-Dr-Opeyemi-Enoch.html are picking up the story. This says a lot about the follow-the-sheperd style of journalism today. They don't work with facts anymore, it's all about copy and pasting, but I'm sure they will change their wordings soon though. Now this man's salary is going to increase, even if his proof gets debunked. He is now a celebrity mathematician. Students and scholars around the world are going to talk about him. If this was his original strategy, then it is working. |
The Reimann hypothesis was proposed in 1856, making it 156 years-old. Even the Nigerian news is even more accurate that this BBC story. I checked the BBC website www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03891wc , they were uncertain. They didn't make a claim, they posed a question instead. So op, your mobile version of the story has been tampered with. Anyone looking for the true story should check the site. Nigerian professor claims to solve 150 year old maths problemAnyway, Claymaths Institute site still shows that this hypothesis remains unsolved. If Claymath is the one giving the award and the prize, then their acknowledgement is all I need to believe this is true. Until then keep posting! Give us CNN , AlJazeera. All that matters is Claymath's side of the story. |
FOLYKAZE:Actually, it is your position in atheism that represents insanity. We do believe in the existence of earth. But why do we have to call it Gaia, or even call it a goddess or even stupidly worship it for whatever reason? You are not making sense. Why give them names or personalise them? Well except you are a poet. But the rest of us are not poets! |
Antiparticle:That's what Ifa told him, so he had to tell us given he is the Avatar. The link between the Spiritual and the Physical. Folykaze don't take this seriously o. |
FOLYKAZE:So wetin I go call myself now. Scientific Atheist. I rest my case. I'm simply Scientific. |
