No, not the pope, a priest. Derz only one pope, and he stays in Rome, so we confess to priests instead.

We Catholics
believe in the prayer of intercession, that's praying on behalf of one another. Its just like asking God to forgive ur brother for his sin..here, u're the righteous one,the one without guilt, so, u praying for him gives him a better chance in the sight of God.

See this scripture-James 5:16 “Therefore, confess your sins to one another,
and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The
effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.”

Check the last sentence above...

Catholics reach out to Mother Mary to intercede for them, so also do we go to a priest to confess, the priest in turn, prays to God for us..

John 20:23 "If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained."

And one of them said the Pope is another Christ who can forgive sins based on this scripture.

So what is happening here?

The scripture u quoted refers to those who wronged u..and not about humans forgiving sin. Remember the Lord's prayer..'Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who tresspass against us'

By saying priests have the power to forgive sins you are also saying they have the power to send people to heaven or hell. Lol..who said priests forgive sin They never! You only confess to them, they'll relay ur confession to God..in other words they'll pray for forgiveness on ur behalf. They'll give u penance which u have to do..in other words 'prayin for urself'..Priests never ever forgive sins, only God does.

Christ is the only mediator through which mankind can approach God, His sacrificial blood paid the ransom thereby nullifying any need for an intercessor because the so called intercessor is also a sinner therefore, Christ being a perfect and sinless being, he alone is the mediator and the Christ through whom we approach God in prayer that was why he taught us how to pray and how to go about it which can be found in Matt 6:6-12 and not through any intercessor.

The priest is who we choose as the other part of 'one another'. Correction, the priest never forgives sin, he only prays on behalf of the sinner(prayer of intercession)

She slumped in her bathroom yesterday morning
and was rushed to the hospital at 5:30, but she wasn't admitted because a nurse said there was no bed space. Her name is Kelechi Ndulagwa and according to sources, she died due to lack of oxygen.

The Students of the University of Port Harcourt, have decided to stage a protest, blocking some roads and entrances to the school, but the protest is not yet a violent one because of the ongoing post utme exercise at the university.
