Tstark: ^^^^^
Your post would've made sense if you had got your facts straight. For your information Eric sermon was the producer in EPMD and Parish was the rapper [actually they were both rappers but Eric was the producer]
Slight error, but not enuff to demean the whole post. Erick was the music end of EPMD while Parish was the Business end of EPMD. Satisfied?

@ambrosini593, I hope yu are not one of them D'banj publicists on Nairaland trying to keep his image relevant in the minds of naija people. I'll re-address your analysis of both camps on a point by point basis.

You labelled the solar plexus album a total failure. In my estimation (and I may be wrong), the album was released like a mixtape. If Don Jazzy wanted to release a family album, they would have combined on the tracks, not one artist to one song. While the album may seem to be a failure, it has served to bring out D'prince as a standalone artist.

You sed Don jazzy is desperate and he's now looking for interviews to grant and paying to keep his name out there. I think D'banj copped Don Jazzy's style by rushing to align with Ikechukwu, J.Sleek, and co-opting Kay Switch to his own label (DB records). Time will tell if the alliance will work out or not.

You also faulted Don jazzy's distancing himself from Kanye West. The truth is, Kanye West has himself, No id, and a host of dope producers on his label that would use Don jazzy to mop the production floor (No offence). So, why stay there and kill your Nigerian fan base?

Yu sed D'banj broke into the International market. If you ask me, P-square are lightyears ahead of D'banj at the moment as far as the international market is concerned. Well, time will tell if D'banj will break in or break out.

Yu mentioned Oliver Twist and Oyato. Oliver Twist was Don jazzy's send-forth to D'banj, and he has stretched it beyond its limit. On his own, Oyato was an outright disaster. He received attention cos it was his first single after Mohits. Its like Sisquo after unleash the dragon album, he was unable to sustain the tempo.

You mention that K-switch didn't have a single while with mohits. we all know that mohits worked on their artists, one at a time. K-switch's time didn't come before mohits split up.

Who is really winning?

I'll liken their split to EPMD. Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith went seperate ways because of [b]kpogri[b/]. Erick Sermon was the artist (D'banj) while Parrish Smith was the producer (Don jazzy). They both lost out in the end, because their fall allowed Bad Boys records to cement their ground as the front men of East coast music. So who is really winning? None! They will fizzle out because each of them needs a part of the other to make it. But, time will really tell who messed up.

Its comments like this that will be the end of Nairaland. Someone should ask Seun to watch his site properly. I may not like Mr. President, but its another thing to run my mouth on a public forum against him.

Btw, try this on one for size;

People who want to keep on blaming the President for their personal misfortunes should take this as a warning. It will not be tolerated anymore. Yar'adua was not criticized, Obasanjo was not. Didn't they have flaws? Don't hate, appreciate. A word is enough for the fools.

I don't think this is the best place to express your disappointment. I actually know where you work by virtue of this post. The best thing is for you to have an alternate source of income that pays twice your salary. That is real promotion. Buzz me if you need to brainstorm.

PoliticsRe: GEJ Is A Joke & Clueless - Ghanaian Prof. Ayittey by Stiv(m): 4:19am On Jun 26, 2012
The Ghanian should mind his business. This is an insult of the highest order. A foreigner should not be allowed to insult the Number one citizen of this nation. Clueless or not, GEJ is our President until we decide otherwise. I'm shocked this thread was even given a space on this site.
CelebritiesRe: D’banj - I Want To Win A Brit Award & A Grammy by Stiv(m): 4:13am On Jun 26, 2012
Dbanj is just trying to keep himself relevant until he can get good songs to keep himself going. Oliver Twist is roughly a year in the market. Since then, we are yet to hear any music from him. His publicists are fighting hard to keep him in business, that's why a cameo appearance in K.West's video is being overhyped. P-Square has done 3 videos with international artists, and are not making noise about it. Dbanj should do music, and stop rushing to the media at the slightest opportunity.

This list is daft. Where is Mobil, LNG, Chevron, and Shell? I don't see the Telco's here. Even tier2 oil companies like baker and saipem are not on the list. Go back to your drawing board and give us a real list
Rap BattlesRe: Joe Budden Vs Method Man by Stiv(m): 5:44pm On Jun 24, 2012
Meth is far better than Joe would ever be. Joe and his slaughterhouse crew are a bunch of rappers who failed in rap for one reason or the other. I think he's looking for a shot at stardom. Unfortunately, Meth can't be touched.
Rap BattlesRe: To My Rappers In The Building by Stiv(m): 5:35pm On Jun 24, 2012
@Ibracyber, rap (like any other music) is an art meant to pass a message. It's a beautiful method of communication. The music should reach the man on the street. What message is your art sending? Nas, Terry g, Ice prince all attack the mic in different ways. Think about that.

RomanceRe: I Impregnated Our Maid Because My Banker Wife Was Never Around. by Stiv(m): 12:57pm On Jun 24, 2012
Too many a time, we are quick to pass judgment on a situation without seeking its resolution. Very poor. This woman is in pain, she's hurt emotionally. The husband is hurt. Their marriage is on the brink of destruction. And there's more than enough fault to go round. I suggest they work it out because noone else will do it for them.
