Make your partners feel special: Think and think very hard of things you can do everyday to show your partner that you really care.Use words like "I love you" or "I love talking to you", I want to be with you" or "You give me joy and happiness" on regular basis, this will give your partner more assurance. You can also send letters, emails, text messages, your picture to your partner.Gift too will do a great deal. All these simple things makes relationship to stand the test of time, unfortunately most couples forget these simple things once they feel comfortable and settled in their relationship.

Try to know more about your partner: Long distance couples use phone , send a lot of text messages and emails. In your conversation try to keep that spark on, exactly like the way you start the relationship. Avoid topics that can cause argument that can lead to bad feelings about the relationship in general. Be open minded to ask question bothering your mind about your partner.


Trust each other: If your partner has not cheated on you before trust him/her. Don't make baseless accusation about your partner cheating on you. Don't believe that your partner is cheating on you due to the fact that your partner doesn't doing everything you want. This can strain relationship. In a committed relationship you should be able to talk about everything(don't be afraid to ask tough questions).

Have a solid plan about your future together: Please don't enter into long distance relationship if you are not willing to have your life changed drastically. The relationship can't be a long distance relationship forever. One person has to move or both, if you really love each other these shouldn't be a problem. Don't engage in a long distance relationship if you don't love your partner deeply.

Arrange to visit regularly: Make plan towards visiting, this will give you some thing to look forward to. Visiting is a powerful way to boost long distance relationship. This can be very expensive . Save for it, both of you can share the cost. If you afford it, it worth it to make a trip to see someone you love. Be reasonable in case you can't afford it.

Communicate often: Try to communicate on daily basis and figure out reasonable amount of time you can spend on the phone. If you are worried about the phone bill, get network provider that offer low rate or free calling within the network. Incase you are in different countries try free internet calls through services such as skype. Get a webcam and good internet service, this will allow more interaction than a phone. From a webcam, you can read your partners body language and facial expression, this make interaction very interesting.

Interact with others: Don't be too occupy or consumed in your relationship. Make sure your long distance relationship is balanced with your day to day activities at home. Connect with friends and family members.

Have a night date with your partner: Distance is not a barrier, your can still have night dates. Just set a particular day in a week to eat the same meal, watch the same movie and interact online, or chat up for a longer period of time on the phone.

The first time i saw two men kissing was in London, specifically at the St James's Park on a cool summer day many years ago. I still remember the shock and revulsion i felt.

I stood transfixed, staring at them for about 5 Minutes and was just turning my head around like AM I THE ONLY ONE SEEING this,and then it hit me, i was no longer in Africa and even if i had been living in the US, i was yet to see two men kiss. It was a cultural shock for me to see two men make out.

I hated gays.

Then one day in Church, at a bible study. Somebody asked the pastor that if the Church preaches a lot of things about repentance and acceptance,why then do they still find it hard to accept gays?the pastor's reply was an eye opener.

And then it hit me. Why do i exactly hate gays?they don't bother me, they sleep with each other,they marry each other,they pay their own bills,i don't even know them.

As i grow older, i have learned to be very tolerant of others. I have also learned to mind my business with how others handle their lives, that is why i do not judge married women/men when they cheat in their marriages, i am not in their marriage so don't know what lead to the infidelity.

While i do have my personal reservation about the gay thing, i have come to accept the fact that my feelings will not stop people from being gays, or stop them from loving each other. i have also come to accept the fact that no matter what, there will be others that will have sexual orientation that is different from mine.

In Nigeria, there have been instances where men have been caught making love to goats and chickens. Nairaland even carried some of those pictures.

So what am i saying?people should let other people live their lives the way they deem it fit. what you cannot correct, leave alone.

What a nice story... My sincere opinion is that this people are already living their lives, either publicly or secretly but one of my question is why must u make it a law?... and furthermore, we all know terrorism is a far higher problem as at now in the globe than this "gay movement". Therefore If any individual or government wants to truly help humanity, it must first of all save human lives before you talk about their right! Lets stop being civilize with immorality. St.martynz
