For some of us who would like to go into this business, you can ask your questions and you'll get all the answers you need to start up the business. So, keep your questions coming. Thanks. |
PREPARATION -Pour the Texapon into a bowl -Add the pine oil and stir very well -Add the phenol and stir -Add the lyzol and stir -Add the booster and stir -Add like 3 liters of water and stir -Use some quantity of water to dilute the carbolic acid before you add it to the mixture -Add the izal concentrate and stir -Also use some water to dilute the whitener before you add to the mixture and stir together -Pour the remaining water and stir properly Finally package the product for use or sale. Thanks. |
PRODUCTION OF GERMICIDE (Materials Required For 10 Litres) Texapon.........2 tin milk cups Pine oil...........4 tin milk cups Phenol............4 tin milk cups Lysol...............4 tin milk cups Izal booster... .4 tin milk cups Carbolic Acid.....4 tin milk cups Izal concentrate.........4 tin milk cup Whitener.................2 tin milk cup Water.......................5 litres I promised to explain our production in units. Looking at the formula above, you notice that texapon used is 2 cups, whitner 2 cups and our water is 5 litres while other ones are 4 cups each. Now, explaining this in unit, I would say: Texapon------------2 units Pine oil-------------4 units Phenol-------------4 units Lysol---------------4 units Carbolic acid------4 units Izal concentrate---4 units Izal booster--------4 units Whitener-----------2 units Water--------------- From the above, let's use texapon as our determinant factor. As in, the quantity of texapon to determine the quantity of the entire production. Here, you can use anything as your measurement (measuring tool). For instance, if you choose to use a spoon as your measurement, it means texapon is 2 spoons, whitener 2 spoons, then the rest 4 spoons. If you now choose to use a bucket, it means two of that buckets of texapon, 2 buckets of whitener and 4 buckets of the rest. Please do not quote me yet, typing still in progress. Grinning..... Thanks. |

GERMICIDE Let's take a quick look at what a germicide is together. A germicide is any type of product that is designed to kill germs and bacteria on different types of surfaces. Many household cleaning products are formulated to function as germicide. Over the years, a number of uses of germicide products have come into common use. Some involve the utilization of basic germicidal and antibacterial products as a way of minimizing the chances of spreading colds or other forms of illness. Wherever there are people, there are bacteria. Since bacteria are invisible to the naked eye, their presence is usually unsuspected. Germicide therefore helps to rid the area of bacteria and germs that have the potential to cause harm to humans and other living things. Germicide can be used to clean surfaces such as: -Toilet -Sinks -Floors -Drains -Door Knobs -Counters and -Garbage cans, etc. Summarily, germicides as disinfectants aid in maintaining a clean environment to help prevent the spread of harmful bacteria that may cause infections. PLACES GERMICIDES CAN BE USED Germicide as disinfectant can be used in the: ¤Hospitals ¤Homes ¤Eateries, etc Sorry for the long story, just wanted us to have a clear idea of what we are going into next. Stay tuned as I bring us the formula for production of germicide ( izal formula) in my next post. Thanks. |
obajohn: bro well done. u ar doing a great job. Thanks Sir. |
impeccablephili: Hey bros we are waitingAlright Sir! |
Raymondif: am in continueNoted Sir. |
meanwhile, I will be waiting to see our interest before we go on. I want to be sure I'm not just wasting my time here. So, indicate your interest. Strongbest. Thanks |
Germicide: we make use of germicide almost everyday. Production of Germicide is the next thing we shall be considering here. Stay tuned. Thanks |
Like I said earlier, we have a lot to cover, so keep all your questions on liquid soap production coming. We need to move to the next thing soon. Thanks. |
THE FUNCTION OF SOME OF THESE CHEMICALS -Caustic soda is used as a base during detergent production: It is a stain remover -Sulphonic acid is an organic acid, which is very important in liquid detergent production. It neutralizes the basic effect of sodium hydroxide (Caustic soda): It is a foaming agent -S.T.P.P (sodium TripolyPhosphate): In liquid detergent, it helps to soften water, suspends soil, and serves as an anti-spotting agent. It is a good builder and also ensures stability of liquid detergents when used. -Formalin is basically a preservative in the liquid detergent -Fragrance (perfume) is to give good and pleasant smell -Nitrosol: Is a thickening agent (A Thickner) - SLS is a foam booster |
Hian! This is hilarious! |
matify: Most of your enumerated uses at home revolved around cleaning mostly.Wow, thanks for your brilliant contribution sir. You know, I just learnt something new from you now. I actually wanted to limit it to common use. |
10 WONDERFUL HOME USES FOR SODIUM BICARBONATE (BAKING SODA) First, before we go on, let me quickly give a brief explanation of what sodium bicarbonate is. I know the name doesn't sound like something common or something we are familiar with and some people may even be thinking it's not something within our reach but I tell you, that is not true. Ok, Sodium bicarbonate also known as or commonly known as baking soda is obtained/derived from a naturally occurring mineral called trona. Sodium bicarbonate has its chemical formula as NaHCO3. Which simply means, it contains: sodium, hydrogen, carbon and oxygen. Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is said to be hundred Percent (100 0/0) pure, safe and natural. Sorry, this is not some sort of chemistry class, just trying to give us an idea of what sodium bicarbonate is. How and where can we get sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)? You can get sodium bicarbonate from almost anywhere in a chemical store and very cheap. USES 1. To eliminate odour from room (especially when water is mistakenly poured on your rug or carpet): Just sprinkle some sodium bicarbonate on the rug and allow to sit for sometimes/hours, then sweep away later. To keep your room or anywhere in the house smelling natural, just sprinkle around. Sodium bicarbonate absorbs odors and help to keep things smelling fresh. 2. To eliminate bad smell or odours from shoes. I know this would be very helpful to guys that use shoes. You know how it feels when you visit someone or when you get home and have to pull your shoes after a long day. Ouch! That awful smell that oozes from your shoes. To keep your shoes smelling fresh, get 2 pieces of clothe, pour some sodium bicarbonate, let's say 3-4 spoonfuls in each, tie and stuck them into the shoes and leave for sometime. You can also use your old stocks for this. Do this every time, the sodium bicarbonate will absorb the bad smell from the shoes and keep them fresh. I don't mean to brag here, but I can proudly tell you that my shoes don't smell bad, no matter how long I wear them. Hehehe. 3. Keep bad odour from your fridge You know sometimes, the fridge can smell really bad when light goes off for a while, especially if you usually keep things like meat and other fresh things in your fridge. One good way to stop your fridge from smelling bad in this case is by using sodium bicarbonate. Just get a very big cup, could be plastic cup. Put in some sodium bicarbonate and leave it there in the fridge. You may use 2-3 cups for this, depending on the size of the cup and your fridge. This works great. 4. For cleansing purpose. Ok, if you don't want scratches on your sweet looking ties or marbles, always use bicarbonate to clean them. Simply sprinkle some sodium bicarbonate on the ties, use a mild damp rag to mob it off. It leaves your ties clean and shiny. 5. To clean burnt pot. You know that awkward time when your food got badly burnt underneath, maybe because you slept off or your attention was carried away by something. This happened to me a lot, back then in school. Apart from realising you've just burnt your last beans, another night mare is how to clean up the pot. In this case, just pour some sodium bicarbonate and soak with hot water, leave for some hours. The black stain will easily and amazingly come off from the pot. 6. To remove grease stain. If you ever have to remove grease stain from any item, don't struggle much, just sprinkle sodium bicarbonate over the stain and rinse or wash off easily. 7. As deodorant or to neutralise body odour. If you have body odor, please try this. It works great. Just sprinkle sodium bicarbonate under your arms. If you also sweat a lot, maybe under your arms, do try this and you'll thank me later. Sodium bicarbonate absorbs sweat and leave you feeling fresh all day. In case you have a very strong body odour, I can help you with a stronger formula. 8. To relieve pain or treat insect bites. If you ever get bitten by insects, just make a sodium bicarbonate paste (like your calamine lotion) and apply to the bitten area. This is also very helpful in curing itching body. If your body itches you, just try this and you'll be relieved soon. 9. To cure dandruff. Dandruff can be completely cured with the help of sodium bicarbonate. For ladies, this can be very helpful to you. Get your hair wet with water, apply a handful amount of sodium bicarbonate down to your scap. Rinse your hair thoroughly with water, after sometime. You may stop using hair shampoo for a while and concentrate on this. 10.Lastly, for mothers in the house, you can clean your babies' diapers (and other diapers) with sodium bicarbonate. Dissolve sodium bicarbonate in water and soak the diapers in them. Other uses for bicarbonate( medical uses). Research has shown that sodium bicarbonate can be used in treating or curing sicknesses like: cancer, flu, diabete, heartburn, kidney diseases and many more. I can't give the dosage for use in this case because I'm not a doctor. Doctors in the house could help throw more light on this. Sodium bicarbonate is also used in cooking and in baking. The post is getting too long, I should just stop here. You can ask me any question on the use of sodium bicarbonate(with the exception of oral administration of it). Thanks. |
I will give the functions of the chemicals in my next post. Meanwhile, you can keep your questions coming. We still have a lot of things to learn, so we need to move to another product soon. Thanks. |
godfreykingsley: I am in tooYou are highly welcome Sir. |
lgboks: Dint see your assignment on time would have gone with your steps....but I jst produced the liquid soap experimenting with another. Method ...no causic soda and texapon(wanted to make the soap less caustic or acidic) thanks with the steps ..would try and upload pics 2morow...(I like experimenting with new procedures)Sorry about that. As for making soap without caustic soda, well, you might still have a 'soap' but if we must go by what soap really is, then lye (caustic soda) is inevitable. The chemical reaction that yields or gives soap is known as saponification, which is simply the reaction between oil or fat. The caustic soda doesn't really remain in the soap as 'caustic soda' after the reaction if combined in the right proportion. The caustic soda is usually used up to give soap. Don't know if my explanation is clear enough. Will be looking forward to seeing the pictures of your production sir. Thanks |
COST OF MATERIALS -Sulphurnic acid----------1/2 litre (N450) -Caustic soda-----------------1/2 kg (N90) -Soda ash----------------------1/2 kg (N90) -Nitrosol-----------------------1/8 kg (N250) -Coloor---------------------1Sachet(N50) -STTP----------------------1/4 kg (N50) -SLS--------------------------1/8 kg (N190) Perfume-------------------(N100) depends on the type you are going for. The above cost is given based on the least quantity of materials you can buy or that some sellers might agree to sell to you. Also note that, you only need little out of the materials to do your assignment. You can keep your remaining chemicals for future use. Thanks. |
ASSIGNMENT I promised giving us an assignment, here's the assigment. You can upload the pictures of your production. Using the instruction or guide giving for the production of liquid soap, kindly use the giving materials and measurement given below to produce 2-3 litres of liquid soap at home. MATERIALS /MEASUREMENT Sulpunic Acid 1 peak milk tin Caustic Soda 1 spoon Soda Ash 2 spoon STTP or SLS 1/2 spoon Nitrosol 1 tomato tin cup(just at mouth level) Texapon 1/2 spoon Formalin Optional (just some drops) Fragrance(perfume) 1/2 spoon or as desired Water 2-3 litres TIPS -Dilute your sulpunic acid with 1/2 litre of water -Dissolve the nitrosol with 1/2 litre or just a little less. -Dissolve the caustic soda with 1 tomato tin cup of water -Dissolve the soda ash with 1 milk tin cup of water. |
What a brilliant response. |
I'm going to give us an assignment in my next post, I will be giving us measurement for the production of 1 to 2 litres. This is to help us get it right and to boost our confidence in producing larger quantity. I will also be giving us the function of each of the chemicals and the cost of each. So, stay tuned. |
METHOD OF PREPARATION -Dissolve the caustic soda with 1 litre of water and allow to stay for 30 minutes to 1hr or over night. -Dissolve soda ash in 1 litre of water and allow to stay for 30min/hr or over night. -Get your sulphonic acid, pour inside an empty bowl, and add your perfume (fragrance) to it and the texapoon, then add like 3-4 litres of water and stir very well for about 5 - 10 minutes. -Dissolve the SLS with 2 tin milk cups of water -Dissolve the STPP with 2 tin milk cups of water also -Get the Nitrosol but if it is C.M.C you’re using, make sure it is dissolved 2 days to the preparation of the soap with 4-5 litres of water. If you are using Nitrosol, it's used instantly (as in, no need soaking it down). PREPARATION -Get the Nitrosol that has been dissolved in water or the C.MC. that has been dissolved 2 days to the preparation of the soap. -Add the dissolved sulphonic acid, texapon and perfume to either the Nitrosol or C.MC depending on the one you are using and stir very well. -Add the already dissolved caustic Soda and stir very well. Add the already dissolved soda ash and stir properly. -Add formalin to the content and stir properly. -Add the dissolved S.T.P.P and stir. -Add the dissolved SLS to the content. -Dissolve your colourant in water and ensure that the colourant is completely dissolved, then add it to the solution and stir thoroughly. -Add some quantity of water to the mixture, depending on the thickness of the mixture. Leave the mixture for some hours or preferably till the following day and then package for use or for sale. |

LIQUID WASHING SOAP (LIQUID DETERGENT) Liquid soap as the name implies, is soap in liquid form. It is a cleansing agent and it is a multi-purpose cleanser. Liquid soap is also known as liquid detergent. It has the ability to emulsify oils and hold dirt in suspension. Liquid detergents (Soap) share same properties with solid detergents. A detergent is expected to consist of the surface-active agents or ingredients which are the essential ingredients and subsidiary ingredients (supplementing ingredients). In all detergents, the surface-active agent forms the most important part of the detergent. All the ingredients needed in the production of liquid soap (liquid detergents) will be listed later. Note: in this lesson we hope to learn a multi-purpose liquid soap. That is, one that can be used for basic cleansing like: washing of plates, cars, laundry etc. So, stay tuned as I take us on a journey to producing a high quality multi-purpose liquid soap. |
