just merely 17hours after i thought the fibre optic cable carrying data signals from nigeria through south africa to portugal has been fixed, i just realised my internet speed has dropped again drastically.its a night mere and i cant even do downloads of up to 1kbp/s talkless of uploading.if anyone has any further info about when this will be finally fixed, please let me know.its frustrating!

looks to me like nig sat 3 is working fine now. i seem to have regained my usual internet speed. hope it lasts!

just follow these instructions.
PC1:

1. Just right-click “My Computer” and click Properties.
2. Select the “Computer Name” tab and click the “Change” button.
3. Change the computer name to whatever you want, here we name it PC1. Change the workgroup to WG. (The workgroup name should be the same in both computers)
4. Click OK.

Go to Start > My Computer > My Network Places > Network Connections.
Right click on your wireless adapter and select Properties. Go to the Wireless Network Tab and click on the Advanced button. Select Computer to Computer (Ad hoc) networking option.
If you get a window with an SSID box, you can specify the network name in it, in our example we use XNET.

Now go to your Wireless Adapter >> Properties >> Wireless Networks and click Add Preferred Networks.

Enter the settings as follows:

Network name (SSID) : XNET
Network Authentication : Open
Data Encryption : Disabled
Also, do tick the - This is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network, wireless access points are not used option if it isn’t already done.
o automatically connect to the network, select the Connection tab and tick on the Connect automatically when in range option.

Now, to configure the TCP/IP connection settings,
1. Goto “Control Panel” >> “Network connections”
2. Right-click on your Wireless Adapter and click “Properties”. In the “General” tab, select “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”. Click the “Properties” button.
3. Set the Values
IP Address - 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway - 192.168.0.2
4. Click OK and you are done for PC1.

now for thesecond computer

PC2:

the nig sat3 issue hasnt been fixed.i use visafone's evdo and i cant even browse the speed of 1x talk less of broadband. since u said its an optic fibre issue, it might take longer than we think.newayz, new info about this will be really appreciated!

my visafone EVDO connection is driving me nuts.been slow as hell for the past couple of days.called c.c several times and they ended up telling me some dumd sh*T about a problem with NIG SAT3 and that its affecting every internet connection nation wide. now am wondering if anyone can pls tell me if ur connection to the web has been as messed up as mine so i can know if they are just BOBOing me!

if what u mean by mp3 player software is the one u use in syncronizing ur pc with ur player, then i think u should simply go to the manufacturer's website 4 ur player and down load the driver

Izap? its no different from the same old EVDO they were blabbing about.most scenerios often involve people paying for high speed broadband and they painfully end up getting 1x services with download speeds of 2 to 5 kbp/s! which in my own opinion is slower than my 80 year old grandma's ability to cover a 100 meters.i really think u should ask them about their network coverage for braod band b4 chooking ur head inside ooooo!!
