1.I'm trying to tell you that I'm happy that the regional/parliament government is gone for good, and that's only reason parties without structure can win, 2. in a parliament system there's no way Obi could have gone anywhere but presidential system anything can happen, did I not tell you I'm a Zikist
This is the fourth republic FGS, 2022. Who talks about a perliamentary system that was tried half a century ago?

2. Tell me, may this be the reason you lot supported and defended the abolishing of the regions and parliamentary system?

This is such a powerful speech, it delivered a lot of points that can be broken down on their own. It's a masterpiece.

That man is trying his best to make the most out of Obi's hype, he wants to get elected to the state assembly after which he will switch over to PDP. grin

You should be sure of what you are saying instead of thinking.
You should understand what middlebelt means in the Nigerian political context.

These are what you can quickly google before typing rapidly based on emotion.

Buhari won the core north in 2003, 2007 and 2011.

The disgruntled PDP states with the middlebelt votes joined with the southwest vote gave him an edge of 2 million in 2015.
Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Kaduna, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe were all strong PDP states before 2015.

That you are contending this is an indication that you do not understand what you are saying.

Meanwhile, Benue was won by Buhari in 2015 by 54%
Samuel Ortom was practically elected governor of Benue State in 2015 as an APC member.

In the southwest, Ekiti was lost to the PDP,
@the bolded, when did they become middle belt?

This is to show you how backward the north is. Their level of uneducation is alarming. You can imagine how politicians are taking advantage of that. You just look for who they love most and put his face on your poster and boom they'll love you and vote you irrespective of what party you belong. They can't even tell the difference. Tuehh

How?

You guys complained of arewa domination, now Fulani, tomorrow it will be kanuri, you are losers who don't know what they are fighting for or how to concede. It's in your DNA.

PoliticsRe: Presidential Election: Who Will The NORTH VOTE FOR by SU50: 10:54am On Sep 21, 2022
Nyamuri:
I never liked Atiku since day one, he has never been there for the north! His method of operation is to leave for Dubai and come back after each election circle, he just wants to recoup the money he has wasted on his several election outings and to enrich the likes of Dino, omokri, ben Bruce etc.. the is nothing progressive about PDP, just bunch of thieves who can't wait to come back and steal!!

Atiku has no plans for the north! He thinks just because his hausa/fulani, that should be enough for us to vote him, that's why his taking the north for granted

Tinubu is a achiever, everything about him is progressive.. look at his team, all technorants and competence.. Tinubu will also continue with Buhari's master plan e.g AKK gas pipeline, railway, Siemens etc

God won't forgive us if we lose this opportunity

Barba marwa, El-Rufai, ganduje etc are the type of ppl that will be given ministerial position. It's too good

Tinubu presidency will usher a new dawn, Buhari has already laid the foundation
Exactly, it's why I change o.

Atiku has no plan for the north, unfortunately, he is a capitalist looking to enrich the wretched in society (the likes of dino, Reno).

Buhari's admin as bad as it is in few areas has done a lot for northerners, lots of people have become millionaires, building the real base of the economy (agric & manufacturing), though it won't be easy in the short run. I see Atiku moulding Nigeria in the image of USA and UK, the rich become richer and the poor stay in their station, only serve as workers and hands to the haves.

Buhari's choice of Ministers and heads of agencies is one place he has done well, people who were hitherto unknown have risen and contributed their own quota in Nigeria's story (my own minister is Isa pantami, one of the best in the admin).

And as you pointed out there is more likelihood of Tinubu continuing with the infrastructure drive than Atiku, so I think we are better off with Apc than pdp.

@the bolded, one of the best things that can happen to the north.

The truth he said is that after winning the election, a line will again be drawn between Northern Christians and northern Muslims, killing of Christians and burning and bombing of churches will continue amidst shouts of Allah Arkbar!!!!. They killed Deborah in broad daylight and no tangible arrests were made while we the Southerners are hosting her grieving family. Fulanis are killing hausas and grabbing their lands. All these are truth, proven and documented.
The problem with you people is you sit in your rooms and develop blueprints, plans and designs of hwo you think other people live their lives and carry it on top your head. You lot are ignorant, loud and empty.

Whenever I see Fulani and religious war in the same sentence, I stay away from replying ilk with such thought patterns.

@the bolded, yeah just like you were accommodating the adamawa woman whom you guys showed absolute hospitality to by killing her and her 4 kids for the sole crime of being northerners, or the Engineer from southern kaduna. I have no qualms with Tinubu, only his boys with their ovearzealousness and loud mouths. grin Not forgetting the Yoruba thing (I think it's the reason why most people are saying away from identifying with him, esp. up north).

As for Atiku, I don't doubt his capacity, but man is a chronic capitalist and then there are the corruption cases and whispers.

Right now, it seems Atiku is taking the North's support for a given (no plans and concessions in whatever way for the north, plus my fear for him, his docility), I think we are better off with Tinubu, at least we have the El-Rufai's and his gang to lead the charge. I also believe we stand a better chance of getting development devolved to the lower levels with Tinubu, so, we go the Baba Buhari way. grin

By infrastructure, do you mean social amenities? They don't grow the economy. What it does is alleviate people suffering. There is a difference between what he is saying to what you are alluding to.
Roads(rural) open up farming communities, rails make it easier to transport goods across lengths at a tiny cost, electricity powers industries, so what are you saying? Infrastructure is the bloodline of the economy.

•Describes petrol subsidy as organised crime

•Says his administration will borrow for investment, not consumption

Dike Onwuamaeze

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, yesterday told leaders of Nigeria’s organised private sector that his administration would totally liberalise the entire power sector value chain, including transmission, to ensure steady power supply if elected president next year.

Obi also vowed to encourage the setting up of more local refineries by private firms and to supply them crude oil in naira to refine for Nigeria’s domestic consumption.

He said this yesterday when he took his turn at the Private Sector Economic Forum for the 2023 Presidential Election that was organised in Lagos, by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

The LCCI had played host to the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubarka last Tuesday.

Obi said: “Power is something everybody is worried about. I know very well that the federal government as of today has removed power from exclusive list to concurrent list. But I will go further than that. Our power problem today is that we have privatised generation and distribution but left power transmission untouched.

For me, the first thing I will do to ensure steady power supply is to liberalise transmission. This is critical if you are going to deal with our power sector. We will support the existing companies in the distribution and generation arms by ensuring that there is a dedicated gas supply which is one of their problems today.

“We will ensure that the generation, transmission and distribution are properly aligned. We will ensure clear certainty of policy and regulatory environment for them to operate. We will support them with access to funding that is attractive and deal with some of tax incentives. We have to ensure that renewable energy is embedded in our power process.’

He said his administration would limit government involvement in the power sector to providing sovereign guarantees and policy clarity and certainty that would attract private sector investment.

“The issue of power will have to be an emergency that we will have to deal with all means possible to ensure that we have power. To have the resources to do this, we will involve the private sector. Government does not need to be entirely involved. Government involvement will be to provide sovereign guarantees,” he said.

Obi also stated that his administration would be decisive in removing petrol subsidy, tackling the security challenges afflicting the country and putting a halt to crude oil theft, pointing out that oil theft could not thrive without people in government participating in it.

He said: “If we come to government in 2023, one thing that we must decisively and aggressively deal with is the issue of security. Insecurity is the number one thing that is impacting Nigeria’s economic growth today. And I need to deal with it as quickly as possible.
“We need to overhaul the entire security architecture, including having multilevel policing involving the federal, state and community and equip them properly with modern gargets.

“Nobody will be able to kidnap, keep his victim somewhere and use phone to negotiate ransom with his victim’s family” without being caught.

Obi also described petrol subsidy as an organised crime and pledged to bring it to and end by encouraging the setting up of privately owned refineries.

He said: “Petrol subsidy is an orgnised crime. I have said it that 60 per cent of the subsidy is corruption. That will be dealt with decisively. Secondly, we will aggressively start to ensure the promotion of local refining that is private sector driven and supply them crude oil in Naira to refine for domestic consumption.

“If you deal with insecurity and our farmers can go back to their farms and we remove subsidy and deal with corruption our inflation rate will drop.”

The presidential candidate identified the large expanse of uncultivated lands in the northern Nigeria as the country’s greatest physical asset that his administration would invest in and cultivate to turn around the economy.

Obi, however, did not leave his audience in doubt that his administration would borrow and invest in infrastructure.

He said: “There is nothing wrong in borrowing. The difference is that if you borrow for consumption you will have a problem. But if you borrow for investments your economy will grow. The reason things are not working here is that we are borrowing for consumption.

“Debt is a component of development but it must be used efficiently and effectively for purposes that will bring value so that we get from the investment will be enough to service the debt.”

The President of the LCCI, Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole, in his welcome address told Obi that “while the chamber is non-partisan, we are however interested in the economic agenda of the candidates and their plans to make a better Nigeria in the next dispensation.

“The chamber is aware of the overshadowing effect of politics over economics in managing the Nigerian economy and would, therefore, wish to contribute to the setting of a new economic order that can take our economy from the doldrums.”
