FIFA has approved changes to the international eligibility rules after today’s 70th FIFA congress: the new rules will allow players to switch eligibility if they played a maximum of 3 games for a 1st national team – including tournament qualifying games – before they turned 21.
Match must not have come in a major tournament.
This will strengthen many African teams

Yes they are high profile friendlies against direct competitors, there are more points to be accrued in these friendlies than in the world cup qualifiers
