I think we should try to invest in whatever business we are into. We blive in the free is better policy and there is no such thing as that, nothing is free in life. Youths will rather invest in fashion than in business and then expect overnite miracle. The key to any business is its customer base, customers make a business. So advertise and watch people chase after you goods

Hello People,
I have been a member of this forum community for awhile and i have viewed as well as commented on lots of topic and most topics i see are all related to "business" and "money" which has instigated me to write this.

I was reading on a topic where a man was looking for the right business to go into. Let me start by saying there is no such thing as "bad business idea", all business idea is a good one as long as you have the right customers to find you. You could be selling an item for N100 with a 1 million customer base and be making more money than that sells an item for N100,000. So in business, customer, getting found, coupled with the quality of service/product delivered is the key to success.

Making Money in Business is determine by the number of customer base the business has.It is clear that not everyone has the large capital involved in major advertising, neither does everyone has the capital required to rent shop(s) in strategic market places due to financial reasons. So the availability of major finance might serve as an obstacle to Publicity which will inturn limit the number of customers the business has. And there is no business without customers, customers make the business. There is no magic to making money in business but to invest in either marketing or product development.

Furthermore, we should try to invest in our business to help ourselves, we should adopt an innovative culture, the world is fast moving so is businesses everywhere. The idea of being stagnant in how business is been operated should be erased. We should imbed new ideas and technology to attract customers. How goods and services are sold ten years ago is different from how they are done now.

The well known businesses are the banking, telecoms, oil&gas. This organisations can afford the biggest form of adverts. So what chance do small businesses have.

Bringing me to the initiative of a paying online marketing/advertisng (where customers pay a token of N500-N1k per month to advertise) website i can across(www.ads-land.com), though www.ads-land.com might look small at the moment but if and when supported, it will be big and serve its purpose. The intention behind the charge is to gather enough capital to intensify advertising for the www.ads-land.com. The owner of www.ads-land.com hopes to cover the whole of the country with all forms of major advertising ranging from TV, radio, billborad, newspaper magazines etc till www.ads-land.com becomes an household name. Imagine a website where you can find anything you want from near to far away and its is well populated because of the publicity it has invested money in. A website that gets on average a million visitors. some of the feastures of www.ads-land.com will be to give a "work from home" structure and small businesses dont have to worry about the cost of having to rent a shop due to financial reasons. Furthermore, www.ads-land.com will be known all over the country, so customers will be comming from far and wide thereby increasing the business customer base.furthermore, Shopping will not be limited to weekends only as the site will be open 24/7 and you can be contacted by customers at any time.
So business people lets try to adopt an innovational way of selling and also try to invest in our business. I dont think N500-N1k is too much to invest in business.
I know of some few Online marketing site that does theirs for free and i know how they make money from the website but the money is just good enough for their pockets and that is it.You might think its free but trust me they are making money for themselves. like i said nothing is free, they make money for themselves and leave your advertised product to waste because not many people know they exist

Sincerly speaking, what number of the total population know about these sites due to lack of publicity.Even nairaland as big as it is,it is not not known by so many peiple. The money made by these free marketing sites (if any made) is not good enough for any major publicicity of the websites.
Even Ebay as big as it is still charges. what's the point displaying/marketing on a website people dont know about because its free, its a complete waste of time and decit. In nigeria today, there is loads of demand for goods and services but people dont know where to turn to. Having a business with just 50-60 customers is not good enough.lets try to invest in our businesses and let our customers find us. Though the truth might be abit harsh but it needs to be said at some point. I have never seen a prosperious business without investment.
We should stop the idea of free is better, nothing is free in life especially in business.
I Just had to write this after a very long conversion with business owners and majority agreed with me. I for one owns a business and hope to make it very big. If Investing 1k a month will increas my profit marging, i see that a the best bargin ever. I will drop my "awhof" pattern and invest in my business.

Hey People, Apologises for my late reply, its been abit crazy for me of late. Yamakuza, my favorite blogger how have you been.

Well, Out of the little knowledge i gatthered from the community ere, How does the idea of Online Marketing sound? An online marketing website that will charge customers as little as N500-N1k per month and customers can advertise as much as possible items/services within that one month time frame.

I kknow people might find paying for an online advert abit too much, but, Nigeria is not as developed as the western countries that does theirs' for free. Even EBAY as big and popular as it is, still CHARGES.

One of the major problem of Nigeria is "UNDER-VALUATION" we expect to pay little for more (except in the case of fashion).
If the little charge can be accepted by people and the proceeds used for proper Publicity and improvement of the quality of website, then it will be a money well spent. There is no business without customers. Once people know there is a site where they can find anytin and everytin, the site will be populated and businesses will Grow. There are lots of demand for goods and services but people dont know where to turn to.

Av got friends that are into business and they have just 60 customer base, thats ridiculous, the more the customers, the more you operate business effectively.

So people What do you think of a MARKETING SITE that will charge and the money gotten will be used to publicise the site Nationwide.
I know how free marketing websites make money, but trust me, the money made by this free websites is only good for the owners' pockets and will not cover any form of publicity. A free Marketing website where only 1% of the general populace knows about is not effective and it has failed in its duty to deliver and that will not help businesses.
Moreover, Nigeria is not that developed to make tangible money from marketing free website (if in doubt read articles on "making money online"wink
We should try to help eachother to help ourselves grow.
This an idea to help ourselves, N500-N1k per month wont hurt anyone especially if its for business purpose.
Please do get back to me with your sincere opinion on this matter.
Thanks

Yet again You have managed to impress me, Yamakuza, Just to be sure before i carry on with the information i have gathered, How many people do you think you have spoken for in your replies, i don't wanna base my information on single person response.
Business / Re: Prolific & Profitable Business Ideas by sunkyg: 10:03am On Nov 21, 2011
Awwww, Yamakuza, i cannot thank you enough, you do not have an idea of much your answers have helped me. You are God sent, lol,

In response to your question, my mind is yet to be made up on good(s) i wanna concentrate on. I have got quite a few products in mind ranging from clothings to electronics but am still in the process of my feasibility study to help make my mind up (if u get me).

Yamakuza, Your responses are quite swift, I'll take it that the internet connection in Nigeria is reliable then. I mean, you replies come within a 24hr time frame or less considering the fact that the site is quite a large one and you reply at anytime (I'm assuming you have an internet connected laptop/PC @ home). Pardon me if i have jumped into conclusion too quick, but in your opinion give me an estimated number to these questions please;
* How reliable is the internet connection?
* How many people have got basic internet knowledge (as in check/send emails, fill on-line forms)?
* How many households have got the internet connection?
* If not many households, How popular are cyber cafes?
* Finally, How often do people use the internet, by it @ home, work, cafe, friend's etc?

These are decision making questions, lol, hope my wahala isn't much o!!!

Again yamakuza, your replywould be very much helpful, I'm yet to find a vocabulary to justify you help, you have being wonderful.

N.B Remember, i don't expect you to know the exact numbers, a rough idea would do but still, try to make your answers as close to exact as they can.
Many thanks

Just out of curiosity, what sex are you, male/female??
Business / Re: Prolific & Profitable Business Ideas by sunkyg: 11:05pm On Nov 20, 2011
cool, yamakuza, am yet to be convinced your not into any form of trading, be it part-time or full time. No one outside the the trading union should know as much as you do expect that person trades, so whats your story, do you trade (as in petty trade), lol,

Moving on swiftly, personally, I'm of the opinion that stocking one's good(s) in car boot is abit of a hassle and giving my goods to a third party reduces my profit margin and also lengthens sales time (i.e time it takes for item to be sold). Its just a lil perceptive of mine, it might not apply to the general populace.

I wouldn't mind paying as little as N500 to a third party to help get rid of my product with the goods gotten rid of in time and at the right price. Having said this, i don't know the actual value of N500 but I'm hoping its not too much of a cost.

So quick questions yamakuza, how many people do you think would think in the same way as me and pay the N500 fee to a third party to help them sell their product, or what will be reluctant rate be i.e percentage of total people in petty trade that would object to it and stick to the traditional form of going from work place to work place with good in the back boot.

I await your response Yamakuza.

N.B Many Thanks for the responses, they have been very helpful, you have being my superstar on the site.
Business / Re: Prolific & Profitable Business Ideas by sunkyg: 11:53pm On Nov 18, 2011
Say No More Yamakuza, U have being of great help, you just gave me d vital information i needed. You said in an average family of 6, 3 members of the family would have a petty trade (i.e take clothing, electronics etc to office or wherever to sell) as part time work or betterstill to support their income.
So how do these people get to sell their products considering the fact they reach out quite a few number of people, it must be pretty hard knock life?
So, Yamakuza enlighten me more on how this manage to carry out their petty trade since they cannot afford shop fee.
Business / Re: Prolific & Profitable Business Ideas by sunkyg: 7:54pm On Nov 09, 2011
thanks yamakuza, I do apologise if my initial blog lost u abit, i shud have elaborated more on wot i meant by 'BUYING AND SELLING', quite a few of friends of mine always insist i send stuffs 2 dem to sell, ranging from electronics, cars and all sorts, they tell me that's what everyone is into now and it makes good profit (according to them). That's what i meant by d phrase buying n selling,
Thanks For the reply Yamakuza, quick question, do you have a rough idea of the number of individuals into the business of 'buying n selling'
Your response will be well appreciated

Business / Prolific & Profitable Business Ideas by sunkyg: 8:46pm On Nov 08, 2011
Hi there,
I only just joined the site some minutes ago and i am well impressed with the site, kudos to the person behind d site.
My question is this, What is the most profitable business to go into in Nigeria considering all the economic (electricity, internet etc) and human factors in place (work force).
I currently reside outside Nigeria d moment but i still manage to speak 2 some few friends of mine and anytime the discussion on business is raised they all tell me same thing, BUYING AND SELLLING.
Is that what majority of people are into now or wot?
If yes, can a number (i.e number of people into buying selling eg 1million or 2million) be given to the number of people buying and selling.
Please, let ur replies keep coming in, every information is vital
Many Thanks as i await your responses.
