Yes, I need to use this service again. “Chris, I will send the money to you using Middletrust” I said. “Which one be middletrunk?” He asked. “Middletrust not middletrunk. Visit middletrust.com, if you have questions, text me on WhatsApp” I added. “Afterall, these patients waiting are not going to see themselves.” Again I said this in my mind. That evening, I texted Chris to sign up on Middletrust, then I created a loan transaction and Middletrust sent him a notification. In summary, when he realized that on the due date for the loan repayment, ₦50,000 would be debited from his Middletrust account and if unavailable, would be automatically debited from his bank account, Chris called me and said Tunde, no worry, I no need the level again. I jumped like I just won a trophy, so he had no intention of paying back. Thirty minutes later, he called back and said he needed it after all. “So I just celebrated like Arsenal won the Champions League for nothing! Am I a joke to you?” I thought. Anyways, he accepted the transaction, and the money was transferred from my account to Chris via Middletrust. Fast forward to a month later, it was month-end and we were awaiting our salaries or waiting for it to rain, as we liked to call it. Just about that time, Chris stopped replying to my "Good Morning" greetings, he continuously frowned at me and avoided me like he just found out I was COVID-19 positive. No doubt, he was using the fact that I refused to cover a shift for him at work as an excuse to keep me silent and not pay me back my money. I tried talking to him whenever we saw but he always claimed to be busy. At last, the date for repayment came and nothing happened, he didn’t have the money in his Middletrust account or bank account, I assumed. On a Friday afternoon, I was seated at the doctor’s lounge when it began to rain, with the alerts rolling in. Everyone was smiling. I quickly scanned the room to find a frowning face staring at his phone like he just credited someone with ₦200,000 instead of ₦2,000. A comparism was make with the escrow aspect of Fivver and not the E-commerce. Middletrust is a Fintech company(Financial technology) not an Ecommerce company. Middletrust offers safety, middletrust doesnt replace upwork or fivver, it doesnt bring you client(even though these platforms also require you to build your brand and not like they have clients to you on a platter). Middletrust is way more affordable and the fee is capped. If you are satisfied with upwork or fivver, you can continue on these platforms. The article further alleged that conditions for my receiving this money stated that after my campaign would have gained significant momentum, I would step down for the current vice-president. My initial reaction was to consider this piece of fake news to be a crass joke and ignore it, knowing fully well that this is absolutely FALSE and there is no iota of truth in it. But realizing that we live in a generation where whatever trends on social media can often be mistaken as truth, I felt it would be necessary to be clear on this matter. For the avoidance of doubt, I have never been offered nor have I ever received any money from any political party, interest groups or religious bodies. I have also heard rumors that my campaign has also received funds from the Redemmed Christian Church of God (RCCG), which is also absolutely false & untrue. Our campaign has relied on donations from everyday Nigerians, paid into a single account of The Fela Durotoye Support Initiative. I am NOT a signatory to this account, have never taken or utilized a kobo for any personal expenses and we have been very transparent and faithful in the use of those resources that have been donated by the sacrifice of hundreds of people who believe in our mission to birth a New Nigeria. Secondly, may I once again clarify that I have NEVER been a member of any political party prior to joining the Alliance for New Nigeria on the 22nd of February, 2018, nor have I ever supported or been associated with any political party, particularly, the All Progressive Congress (APC). These allegations are driven by the campaign organisation of a former aspirant and member of the party, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim (former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP) who formally withdrew from the race, on Friday, 28th September 2018, just one day to the Primaries. The Chairman Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) Dear Sir My attention has been brought to a statement credited to the Gbenga Olawepo - Hashim Presidential campaign organization dated September 28, 2018 and signed by its Director General, Rt. Hon. Terseer Tsumba which insinuates the following: 1. That a “certain Presidential aspirant is fronting for some powerful interests in the All Progressive Congress (APC) to destabilize the Alliance for New Nigeria” Being the only other Presidential Aspirant apart from Mr. Hashim on our great party, it is important that I respond to these false & misleading allegations. For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to inform you that I have never been a member of any political party prior to joining the Alliance for New Nigeria on the 22nd of February, 2018, nor have I ever supported or been associated with any political party, especially the All Progressive Congress (APC) [/b][b] 2. “This Presidential Aspirant pretending to be campaigning for the Office of President launched a series of attacks on the party in the build up to her congresses and National Convention” As you are aware, there were several concerns that myself, Dr. Thomas Wilson Ikubese & Dr. (Mrs) Elishama Ideh had about the direction our party was going as we didn’t feel the principles of fair play and true democracy that had drawn us to ANN were being upheld. We had communicated our concerns via email to the Interim Chairman, Dr. Jay Samuels and copied the Board of Trustees and we decided at the time, not to attend the previous National Convention scheduled for the 11th of August, 2018. Please let it be known for the record that I never at any time, used a public statement to “attack the party” 3. “This is in order to foist a prematurely organized Presidential Primary election on the party with the intent of producing a desired outcome by the ruling APC” As a non Executive member of the Alliance for New Nigeria, I am not privy to deliberations of the National Working Committee or Board of Trustees, therefore, I can not be responsible for decisions the party makes towards scheduling conventions or primary elections. 4. “This so called Presidential Aspirant also circulated disparaging remarks aimed at impugning the credibility of our principal in social media...” Such statements are contrary to my personal values, one of which is to “care and show respect through my words and actions”. I have consistently run a unifying campaign that promotes values of respect & decency, without any direct or indirect attack on any candidate and have maintained a cordial relationship with Mr. Olawepo - Hashim. I presume that our party is committed to principles of Transparency, Integrity & Excellence (TIE) in the quest for free and fair primaries. I would appreciate if you could kindly look into and address these issues. My continued best wishes are to Mr. Olawepo- Hashim and my commitment remains to the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN).
