I know of people during my time when Nigeria was even still better who rejected their call up letters on sighting the locations they were posted to and returned the following year to go for service.

He could have used the 1 year to learn tech skills online or learn a trade instead he went to die at just 26.


NYSC that has outlived its usefulness, the only reason it won't be scrapped is because of those benefiting from the contract to sew the khaki, supply boots etc.

They keep saying the NYSC scheme is unifying the nation, how? The nation is still divided on ethnic ,tribal and religious lines.

I would always rate the 25 year old young man who left home to try living independently than a 41 year old with no experience at independence who is still tied to his parents apron strings.
