Politics / Interesting! Nigeria And Morrocco Spat Over Royal phone Call by Surplus90(m): 6:44pm On Mar 11, 2015 |
Found this report on BBC . Looks like there's a quarrel between Nigeria & Morocco after our foreign ministry claimed Pres. Jonathan spoke at length to Moroccan monarch. Morocco denies this. Read below... "Morocco has recalled its ambassador from Nigeria, accusing the authorities there of using King Mohammed VI in an election campaign. Its foreign ministry issued a statement, denying the king had spoken by phone to Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan, as had been stated by Nigeria. The North Africa kingdom denounced such "unethical practices", it said. Nigeria has denied that the king was being used to win over Muslim voters. Mr Jonathan, a Christian from southern Nigeria, is facing a strong challenge in the 28 March elections from opposition candidate Muhammadu Buhari, who is popular in Nigeria's mainly Muslim north. 'Astonishment' The Nigerian ministry of foreign affairs released a statement on Sunday, denying reports that President Jonathan had been snubbed by King Mohammed because he was trying to curry favour with Muslim voters. "This information is absolutely not correct as the president did in fact speak to the Moroccan monarch... both leaders spoke extensively over the phone on matters of mutual interest and concern," it said. However, Morocco's foreign ministry responded by saying it wanted to state in the "clearest and strongest terms" that "there has never been a phone conversation" between the two men. "The king has actually declined the request of the Nigerian government because it is part of the internal electioneering," Morocco's official news agency Map quoted the statement as saying. "The kingdom of Morocco expresses its astonishment and denunciation to these unethical practices that are contrary to the spirit of responsibility that must prevail in relations between states." As a consequence Morocco's Abuja ambassador was being recalled immediately for consultations, it said. http://lindaikeji..com.es/2015/03/interesting-nigeria-and-morrocco-spat.html?m=1 |

So we (me and my friends) went to the dental clinic in my area for mouth/teeth washing and care (don't know what it is called in medical term)...mind you none of us is suffering from any kind of mouth/teeth issue, we just went because formerly it was #5000 but the whole thing is now #2500 due to their recently announced promo... ...one of the dentists asked me how often do I change my toothbrush, then I realised I have been using my current toothbrush for more than a month... she later advised that I change my toothbrush as often as possible... at least at two weeks interval... ...So how often do you change ur toothbrush? |

Family / BEWARE!!.. Daycare Centres Hiring Out Babies For Begging by Surplus90(m): 4:13pm On Feb 25, 2015 |
Another unscrupulous mafia like syndicate ring has been exposed -a new notorious form of racketeering with infants from Day Care Centres. Daily Times investigation uncovered a tripartite gang, comprising some unscrupulous Day Care Centers (DCC), middle men who act as agents and the operatives who are the beggars. The operators of the unscrupulous DCCs calculate the hours that mothers who use their services would be at work, then release the kids out to the agents who are responsible for distribution to the beggars. An ex-operative in the racket (name withheld) who became born again volunteered information in the course of the investigation. She told Daily Times the network runs strictly on trust, and recruits only operatives who come highly recommended by the agents. “It is the duty of the agents to find operatives; they also find the most likely place for them to stay and ensure that both the women and the children are safe. They are also responsible for returning the children and their respective centers at the appointed times,” she said. The source further revealed that the agents understand the risks involved in taking someone’s child for alms begging and ensure that children are never sent to locations where they may be identified and some DCCs, it is believed, drug the children to make them sleep through the ‘business’ hours. “Children from one location are taken to a far place so that chances of their parents running into them would be reduced; and also, the operatives are under watch all the time so that, if there is any sign of trouble, they would move in and take the operative and the children away. Also, the safe hours are very important because a parent must not come and not meet their wards at the centers.” she added. Rates differ according to the season; the festive or important seasons attract higher tariffs per child. According to reports from a Daily Times correspondent who took to the streets to investigate further, a dark complexioned woman was spotted around Ikeja under bridge, Lagos, with three infants; not more than three months old. Curiously, she was not alone; a second woman sat beside her, carrying one of the kids. When questioned about the paternity of the children, how old they were and why she was out there in the sun with them, a drama of a sort unfolded: The woman immediately flared up, cursing while the second woman hastily reached for her phone, made a quick call and lo, a blue Toyota Camry pulled out from the Computer Village gate end, made a quick u-turn under the bridge and slowed down beside the women who scrambled into the car with the infants and they sped off. Like a rehearsed movie script, one moment the women were there; in a few minutes they were gone; but two things caught the eye of the correspondent: the children, all the while appeared to be sleeping, even when they were being bundled into the vehicle, none of them as much as stirred, and secondly, the driver of the vehicle screened his face off with a sunshade dark as the night, and thirdly, the vehicle number plate was not distinguishable. A similar drama also reportedly occured at the busy Iyana Ipaja two days later. This time, a fair woman with a laminated photo of a set of triplets in their infants making it appear like she was the woman in the photo with them, was spotted. In her arms were the triplets, all boys now about three years old; but something curiously noticeable is the state of the boys: they were looking too healthy and well groomed to have been surviving from alms begging. Attempts to tail her home and make inquiries from her neighbourhood, was futile as an unbranded bus with two women and several children picked her and the boys up about 8 a.m. She had been there two hours and since then she never showed up there again. It was further learnt that the Centers take responsibility for preparing and dressing the kids up for business, while the agent takes responsibility for dropping the operatives/ babies at their ‘outlets’ and returns them at the appointed time; DCCs then bathe the children and freshens them up ready for their parent’s pick up. The sight of women with two or more children, mostly infants, sitting by the busy sidewalks, at major bus stops, market places, and on some busy pedestrian bridges begging for alms is no longer strange. Like a smokescreen, the operators shield their nefarious practices with a compelling humanity that calls the human conscience to question. The age of children used for this racket ranges from one month to six months and above, depending on the prevailing circumstances, but there is always room for special arrangements. Thus, for those who take their infants to Daycare centres, vigilance is the watchword while you can also do quick and unexpected checks on your kids. http://www.stelladimokokorkus.com/2015/02/daycare-centres-hiring-out-babies-for.html?m=1 |

Politics / Ekiti Election Rigging Tape: Omisore Admits Attending Meeting - Premiumtimes by Surplus90(m): 12:49am On Feb 24, 2015 |
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the August 9, 2014, governorship election in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, has confirmed attending a meeting captured in a leaked tape, which allegedly provides details of how leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and soldiers plotted to rig the Ekiti election in 2014. Mr. Omisore however denied that they discussed how to rig the June 21 polls. In an interview, reported by Sahara Reporters on Monday, Mr. Omisore said the PDP candidate in the Ekiti governorship election, Ayo Fayose, who is now the governor, merely went to the army camp to complain that his supporters were being harassed by the soldiers while police officers were being disarmed. “There was no meeting actually. Fayose went to the army camp to go and complain about the Nigerian Army arresting his people alleging that Governor Fayemi bribed the soldiers to arrest his people. That is all,” he said. “If you listened to that tape there was no issue. In the same vein they showed on TV yesterday on video that (Governor Rauf) Aregbesola rigged the election. It was physical. This one was physical and is not being uprooted by APC but that one was just a voice over, so you can see the difference.” The controversial audio recorded by an army captain, Sagir Koli, revealed a meeting between his superior, Aliyu Momoh, a brigadier general, former Minister of State for Defence and currently a ministerial nominee, Musiliu Obanikoro; the Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan; Mr. Omisore and Mr. Fayose, strategizing on how to rig the June 21, 2014 governorship election. Mr. Omisore admission came barely a week after President Goodluck Jonathan who was mentioned in the audio by Mr. Obanikoro, claimed the audio was fabricated and would not give it any attention. “It’s all fabrications. Why should I investigate things that are not real?” the president told Wall Street Journal, in a recent interview. Mr. Jonathan later explained that he did not rule out the possibility of a meeting, but the claim it was about rigging. Both Messrs. Adesiyan and Fayose had earlier admitted the meeting held but that its agenda was not how to rig the election. Mr. Obanikoro denied participating in the meeting. The former minister threatened to sue media organisations, including PREMIUM TIMES and Sahara Reporters, which have continued to report the issue. Mr. Omisore, a former senator and deputy governor of Osun State, admitted urging the participants in the meeting to calm down when they went to complain to Mr. Momoh about the disarming the policemen on duty and harassing the PDP members. “What I am saying is that if you listen to that tape, you will know the difference. The issue being canvassed on that tape was complaints by Fayose about soldiers arresting PDP or disarming policemen, simple! “All I said was calm down, calm down! What happened was that we were told the army were disarming the Nigerian policemen. So in that case is that you are supposed to be working as partners and so how can you override your partners. That was what he was cautioning them for that day.” “The issue on ground was the Nigerian army disarming the Nigeria policemen. So he (Fayose) was just advising the army general that he must cooperate with the government agency and they must work together – the Nigerian Army, the Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian police etc.” Mr. Omisore lambasted the All Progressives Congress for unnecessarily overheating the matter just as he alleged that Mr. Aregbesola rigged the Osun state polls in which he (Omisore) lost. “So, there is a propaganda noise about APC. They just make noise unnecessarily. Look at the case of Aregbesola and how he rigged Osun election when he was seen thumb-printing. These are the isues you are supposed to be talking about,” the PDP governorship candidate who recently lost to Mr. Aregbesola at the election tribunal, said. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssouth-west/177398-ekiti-election-rigging-tape-omisore-admits-attending-meeting.html |
