Crime / The Shooting Of FRSC Officer REAL STORY by SwacoBlackPope: 11:53am On Jul 21, 2017
THE SHOOTING OF THE FRSC OFFICER IN ABIA STATE, THE TRUE STORY

By Uche Aguoru

I have read so many accounts by the usual defenders of the depraved oligarchy currently in place in Abia state, in defense of Rt. Honourable Chikwendu Kalu the speaker of the Abia House of Assembly over the shooting of unarmed road safety operatives in their legitimate duty post, 99.9 percent of the articles for want of what to say to defend the indefensible resorted to blaming the officers of the Corp for doing the duties they were assigned to do, and I begin to wonder where lies the conscience of men.

I have sat down quietly trying to disentangle what would make a public servant in the rank of the speaker of a state’s legislative assembly order the shooting of an unarmed officer if not for foolish pride and reckless show of power, the argument of whether or not the speaker was present at the scene of the incident, does not hold water, as the road safety men on the scene had insisted that the speaker was at the scene and personally ordered the shooting of the boy who challenged his wife in an argument.

I was disappointment when the police authorities forgot to come out with the usual accidental discharge fabrication to cover up and protect the image of the police and the speaker, I was even shocked when I didn’t hear the state government and the state house of assembly spokesman propound a theory of security threat on the lives of the speaker and his wife along the highway that warranted an exchange of fire leading to the pumping of two live bullets in the buttocks of the young road safety officer Emeka Ogbujah attached to Umuika office of the FRSC.

What went wrong, why were there no excuses this time around to cover up the attempted murder of innocent Emeka Ogbujah, and his colleagues, according to Emeka’s account, though in an excruciating pain in his hospital bed, he managed to tell me that they tried to stop an over speeding vehicle whose occupants were not on seatbelt but instead of them to slow down and identify themselves with the usual esprit d,core, they sped past in an attempt to run them over and later reversed back, with the man in the front jumping down from the vehicle and asking if they were so blind that they cannot identify Ogas wife, he (Emeka) shouted back at him, asking, who the Oga was that they can’t be stopped, and that was what angered the wife of the speaker who jumped down from the vehicle and ordered her details comprising of a policeman and DSS officer to beat them up, it was at that point that they tried to defend themselves against the armed security officers who were tearing away at their uniforms and beating them up, having seen that the FRSC operatives outnumbered her security details and cannot be easily beaten up despite the arms they were carrying, the speakers wife called the husband who did not waste time in arriving at the scene with more heavily armed policemen and went straight to his wife, and being in no mood to listen to any body or to find out what really happened, ordered the police men to shoot at them.

In my curiosity and in an attempt to excuse the speaker of any wrong doing in the shooting incident, I called the office of the spokesman of the FRSC Abia command and asked if the act setting up the road safety commission protects certain persons (e.g. Wives of political office holders) from being checked along the highways. And the answer I got was a cold NO. When I enquired further as to why the speaker was not allowed to see the victim in his hospital bed? They asked what if he had died, would he have come for his burial?

The excuse of over zealousness on the part of the policemen sounds very watery, according to eye witness accounts, the shootings were sporadic and the beatings random that he even mistook it for an armed robbery operation, while the official federal road safety vehicle was sprayed with live bullets and the battery seized, I can bet my last coin, that if not on orders, no trained security personnel can get that overzealous on an unarmed paramilitary officer, where then lies the spirit of esprit d,core?

My worry now is, if this type of treatment can be meted out on a federal agent on official duty, what will then happen to an ordinary Abian who mistakenly stands on the way of any of those we used our voters card to turn to an overnight tingod, who by virtue of the position he/she occupies has become above the law?

Your guess is as good as mine.

Crime / RE:FRSC Attack In Abia State, Nigeria. by SwacoBlackPope: 5:59pm On Jul 18, 2017
TODAY ON
COPIED:
FACTS OF LIFE: PART 2 OF THE FRSC/POLICE/SSS/ABIA ASSEMBLY SPEAKER SHOOTING SAGA

FRSC shooting: IG, prosecute Abia speaker, killer cops

Impunity, lawlessness and disregard for human life are getting worse in Nigeria. Proof of this emerged on Saturday when police officers attached to the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chikwendu Kalu, shot officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission while on patrol. Two FRSC officials were riddled with police bullet wounds during the incident on the Umuikaa/Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, Abia State. Photographic images of the injured FRSC officials in the media raise the question of police conduct and impunity on our roads. The really scary aspect of all this is that the FRSC operatives were unarmed. If uniformed FRSC officials can be shot in cold blood for doing their job, then other ordinary citizens are really in deep trouble.

At the heart of the bloody incident is the wife of Kalu, the complicity of the police and the State Security Service. According to media reports, the wife of the Speaker, who was reportedly riding in an SUV, was stopped for traffic violation by FRSC officials. Instead of obeying the law, the security officials attached to her started brutalising the FRSC personnel. Some reports alleged that the Speaker’s wife also joined in the lawless act of beating up the officials.

The issue could have stopped there but when the Speaker was informed, he reportedly stormed the scene with his own police details, who he allegedly ordered to shoot at the FRSC officials, who, by then, were already seated in their patrol vehicle. The directive nearly cost these men their lives as their bloodied bodies showed. In the first place, should police officers obey the Speaker’s unlawful order to shoot at officials of the Nigerian government, who are not in any way criminals? Ruthlessly, the police reportedly removed the battery of the FRSC patrol car so that the injured victims would not be taken to the hospital.

In what has become a common occurrence, FRSC officials often come under undue assault in the line of duty. In 2016, a road marshal, Segun Enikuemehin, who tried to plead with some military men to stop their assault on a civilian ended up with one of his eyes being plucked out from its socket. He was said to have successfully rescued the civilian and taken him to the police station. But on returning to the scene with policemen, the military men took offence and descended on him, completely damaging his eye.

In another incident in Calabar in January, Cletus Okune, a driver attached to the Cross River State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Peter Egba, was remanded in Afokang Prison in the city for allegedly assaulting two members of the FRSC. The commissioner, according to newspaper reports, was not in the vehicle when it was impounded for a number of traffic offences, including driving without fastening of seat belts. But, on arrival at the scene, Egba reportedly ordered his driver to assault them. “The commissioner later joined in the beating and also used a stone to injure a colleague in the head,” Fidelis Eteng, one of the victims, said. Egba denied ordering the assault. In 2013, there was another case in which nine operatives of the commission were arrested by a deputy commissioner of police on allegations of obstructing traffic on the Enugu-Abakaliki Road in Ebonyi State. Three operational vehicles belonging to the FRSC were also reportedly impounded, although the vehicles and the officials were later released.

But the buck stops at the desk of the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris: he should immediately order the arrest and prosecution of everyone involved in the despicable act. The policemen deserve severe punishment for misuse of their firearms and obeying an unlawful order. Already, the list of individuals who have been gruesomely murdered or beaten into submission by sadistic policemen is long and ugly. The fact that innocent people and minor offenders are routinely being killed by the police is unpardonable. It is, indeed, awful and shocking that 17 years into the 21st century, policemen will open fire on other unarmed law enforcement officers or civilians on the orders of a power-inebriated politician.

If the allegations against Kalu, the Speaker, are correct, he is unfit for public office, one of those undesirables that notable cleric, Tunde Bakare, identified as “the worst of us ruling over the best of us.” And there are many of them around. He amply reflects how our public office holders hold the people in contempt; lord it over them and have impunity as their guiding philosophy. He should be arrested and prosecuted accordingly. The SSS agent, who also allegedly featured in the brutal attack, should be similarly prosecuted. Like the policemen, she should be flushed out of the system.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, owes his subordinates, his conscience and Nigeria a duty of ensuring that justice is done: he should liaise with the highest authority in the land to see to the prosecution of these wild agents of destruction , a move that is already underway.

There is an urgent need for systemic policing reforms. It is argued that the Nigerian society “is over-policed and under-secured.” Really, a research finding notes that Nigeria’s problem is not a lack of officers. More often than not, the police are themselves a significant source of insecurity, since they are “often engaged in criminal activities − particularly corruption and extortion. Nigeria’s police are also feared for their excessive use of force. The police also misapply themselves. For instance, how many policemen are attached to the Speaker and his wife? What are the rules of engagement given to the over 100,000 policemen guarding individuals, their wives, family and corporate bodies? The impression has gained ground that these policemaiguards are free to brutalise, intimidate and even shoot other Nigerians when so ordered by their pampered charges as Kalu’s case amply demonstrated. This nonsense must stop; the Nigerian Police was not created to protect a few and oppress the majority.

The fact that these horrific acts by the police continue relentlessly and becoming ever more brazen demands a strong response. We encourage the victims to file civil suits and seek compensation irrespective of the IG’s action. Nigerians should rise and use all lawful methods to resist and shake off oppression and impunity.

A THUMB UP TO THE FRSC CORP MARSHAL AND THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE IN SYNERGY FOR A VERY SWIFT PROSECUTORY ACTIONS .

FROM YOUR POLITICAL AND CURRENT AFFAIRS ANALYST, LUCKY OBIYAN, GOD BLESS THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

These guys (FRSC Operatives) are our brothers, friends, sons, husbands etc.

I read the other time that a team was battered to death from bullets of yet to be identified gun men, at their check point. Is it what we pray and wish for these people, our brothers, cousins, fathers, mothers.

Yes, some of the FRSC guys are so arrogant, I agree.

We also call names to police but still call upon them #NPF at distress times... Same with FRSC.

I've gone through some comments above my post. I'm yet to see any reasonable post, rather than selfishness, continuous indiscipline and corrupte practice in our myopic thinking skills.

Nobody here will hit his/her chest to say that noon of his/her family members has never experienced kind treatment(s) from FRSC.

The other night, in Benin, at midnight some clubbing guys after flexing, got drunk, crashed and FRSC was called at that time of the night , they responded (though not timily).

So, if giving them Firearms will make our Roads safer, I support the whole idea.

I've met with some of its operatives (FRSC) in about three different occasions on the highway, first time I was booked for a particular traffic offence, which I paid at the bank. Since then,we have become friends. What matters is our approach to them at the point of apprehension.

We need these guys #Army #NPF #DSS #FRSC #NSCDC on our highways and also in our neighborhoods on daily basis.

Let all criticism be constructive.

Foreign Affairs / USA Has Deployed Missile Defence Systems To Track Rocket by SwacoBlackPope: 1:27pm On Feb 05, 2016
The United States has deployed missile defence systems that will work with the Japanese and South Korean militaries to track a rocket that North Korea says it will launch some time over an 18-day period beginning on Monday. North Korea has notified UN agencies that it will launch a rocket carrying what it called an earth observation satellite some time between February 8 and February 25, triggering international opposition from some governments that see it as a long- range missile test.

What is FRSC doing about sensitising these drivers who think over speeding is all it takes to be a good driver?

Please no one should tell me about speed limiter.
I think FRSC is doing her best to educate motorist on the need to avoid in totality over speeding on Nigeria Highways.
Also enforcement is ongoing on Speed Violations and other Road Traffic Violations, which the Speed Limiter Device that people like you don't want to hear about, happens to be one of the things I think FRSC has done to reduce Road Traffic Crash to the Minimum.
FRSC, should speak for her self, though.

Phones / Re: How To Connect Android Devices To TV Wirelessly by SwacoBlackPope: 11:19am On Jul 17, 2015
eddyland:
You can now easily connect your Android to your TV wirelessly so you can stream or watch movies on your Android and have them displayed on your large TV screen. Just follow these simple steps

1. You need an android phone that is compatible with the Miracast Technology and fortunately all android versions from 4.2 and above are Miracast or Wireless Display enabled.

2. Your TV has to be Miracast enable and fortunately again most modern TVs these days are Miracast enabled. If your TV is not enabled then you have to opt for the alternative, which is acquiring a piece of Miracast or screen cast dongle that you will insert in your TV 2nd HDMI outlet to make it Miracast enabled.

When the 2 conditions above have been met, you can now follow the simplified steps below to connect the android to your TV.

3. Switch on your TV set and leave or change the display to input mode

4. With your android phone now, head to Settings>>display>>castscreen

5. While on the Cast Screen, tap the menu soft key on your phone and select Enable Wireless Display

6. At this point you now wait for it to search and detect the TV Miracast screen, which when detected, it will show it on your phone’s cast sreen

7. All you need to do now when it has displayed the TV Miracast on your phone is to select it and your android device screen will then start displaying on your TV screen
