Family › Re: My Wife Family Mounting Their Father Burial Expense On Me, How I Reacted At Once by SWATMan: 11:08pm On Nov 13, 2024 |
BlindAngel: Good evening Nairalanders, few months ago I posted here regarding how my wife forced me into marriage that I wasn't in anyway ready for because she got pregnant. I posted about the regret I'm still battling until date, because the love isn't there from my own end and I'm also not in anyway attracted to her physically. I have told her severally that I want to option out of the marriage and not doing again but until date she has refused to let me go.
Back to the main point, my wife lost her dad this morning. Her deceased dad has two wife's and several concubines that gave birth to lots of children, my wife doesn't know some of her half brothers and sisters.
So I went to their family house this morning to console them. The eldest son of the family (her half brother) told me and another in law that we'd be the one to pay for mortuary expenses and casket, and when the burial is getting closer they'd give us a list of things to buy and we'd both bring one goats each.
To be brutally honest I wasn't mad because of this latest expense, I got furious immediately and right on the spot because of the pressure my wife pressured me into getting married to her, by now I'd have been totally free of these unnecessary expenses. More than 19 of her sisters, both biological and half sisters that has given birth, no single expense was listed for their man that they got pregnant for and has a child for. But I and the other in law that paid dowry are the one going through these unnecessary expenses.
So immediately he told me about everything, I charged at my wife right on the spot, right in front of her mom, her brothers, her sisters and some of her friends that came for condolence visit. I got so furious and started shouting at the top of my voice, I reminded her how she forced me into marriage that I'm not in anyway prepared and ready for, both physically, psychologically, emotionally, financially. (I have been reminding her regarding this almost on a daily basis and whenever we are quarreling.
I reminded her how she threatened me with suicide and our of fear of the unknown I wasted almost 4m in getting married to her. I told her that I'd have been free of these expenses if not for her pressure.
Immediately she burst into tears, and started crying endlessly.
Her mom and sisters started yelling at me and I yelled back at all of them. They told me I met her a Virgin and now she's no longer good for me (truly, the whole family thought that I was the one that took her virginity) My wife and I agreed to keep it a secret, but the constant remainder from her mom and sisters made me let the cat out of the bag, I told them that I didn't met her a Virgin that she has already started having sex when I met her, they didn't believe me but with my tone, I know they'd.
I also made mentioned that I'm not buying any goat or paying for mortuary or taking any list from them. That it's their dad and they should take care of every responsibilities, after all he has uncountable children, why putting some of the expense on me? I walked away, and switched off my phone until now that I'm just putting it on.
I know that I acted wrongly and allowed my anger to get the best part of me. But I was furious because no single bill went to her sister's baby father's, absolutely nothing was listed for them. I got furious because these expenses won't be on me right now if not for her pressuring me into marriage that I want ready for. I was furious because I and the other in law that they billed became the scape goat by doing the right thing by getting married and not leaving theirs daughter In ruins, where as those that got their daughter pregnant without getting married to them were totally free from these unnecessary bills. I'm in so much pains and regret right now. You messed up. If I may ask, how old are you? Somethings are better never said. By saying you are not physically attracted to your wife signals that marriage to you is all about sex. Stop playing the victim card. You took her to bed, and not the other way round. Your outburst also indicates that you are selfish and cares less about the product of your union i.e the baby. Grow up man certain things happen in our earthly journey that changes our cause in life, you are not alone. |

God1000: This is completely unacceptable, I just can't think of any other country that will commit this abomination and get away with it, as usual no condemnation from USA, I forgot they are the biggest enabler of this.
Imagine if it was Russia, north Korea or Iran that attacked UN peacekeepers in another country, there would have been hundreds of sanctions from Washington and allies immediately
This is unspeakable and disrespectful behavior from Israel
This is what the king of Jordan was talking about during the just concluded UN general assembly in New York when he said the global organization was under attack
Hezbollah the so-called terrorist group has never attacked UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, but Israel with the most moral army in the world has done it again Go sand read UN resolution 1701 passed in 2006 and stop exposing your ignorance in a public forum. The jihadists are in your backyard causing mayhem, but you have never deemed it proper to open a single thread to criticize what's going on in your country, but you are here attacking a nation that's fighting an existential war. All those state laws and even federal laws should be subjected to legal tests Most sensible comment I have read so far. In as much as I support the governor on this, I believe he should allow the cour to determine the culpability of the owner. Most affluent Igbomen live outside their domain, and may be unaware what their property is being used for. The criminals must have a link with a relative of the property to gain access to it without the knowledge of the actual owner. |

Isreal is a country dominated by white people whose fathers and grand fathers were returnee Europeans who was promised the land by Britain and they also killed and chased off the natives into "reserves"
Same with Australia and Canada.
The same experiment was done in Liberia but in this case, it was black returnees from America

He said " All I could see here is a barren wasteland that stretches for miles" The people called 'Palestians' are just Arab immigrants who came to work when the Jews started returning to their land. No amount of changing the narrative or rewriting history would obliterate the truth about the original owners of Israel. Your prophet met them there and write about them! He never mentioned any people called Palestinians in your holy book or did he? |
Politics › Re: Constitution Review: Northern Senators Reject Regionalism by SWATMan: 12:56pm On Sep 29, 2024 |
Kuginzi: By KINGSLEY BENNETH
…It Will Speed Up Socio-Economic Development – Southern Senators
…What We Need Are Institutions To Guarantee Justice, Equity – Ali Ndume
…Regionalism Not Matter For Constitution Review – Bamidele Opeyemi
ABUJA – Senators from the northern part of Nigeria have vehemently opposed agitation for the return to regional system of government.
This happened at the ongoing exercise to amend the 1999 Constitution which began with a two-day retreat organised by the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, in collaboration with the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) in Kano.
Speaking to journalists on the sideline of the event, some of the lawmakers from the region argued that their areas did not benefit from the system when it was practised.
Their submissions were contrary to the positions held by their colleagues from the Southern part of the country.
A ranking Senator from Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Abdul Ningi, told journalists that his people would never support the idea because they did not enjoy any form of development when the system of government was practised in the First Republic.
Ningi said: “I have heard so much about regional government or federalism and I have heard people going about, canvassing for such ideas.
“For a start, no matter how you see it, the current document (1999 Constitution) is still the grundnorm. It has also stipulated how it is going to be amended.
“Having said that, it is also imperative to also know that it isn’t just enough for anybody to come and say he is the representative of one ethnic group or another at the National Assembly.
"The question that arises is, when was this mandate canvassed? When was it received? You are a representative of a particular ethnic group in Nigeria, at what time were you given mandate to canvass that? “The only people that are given this mandate, to look at the Constitution and amend it are, of course, members of the National Assembly.
“Therefore, it is important for those who go about selling these ideas, false ideas, in my opinion, that they are representatives of the people to let Nigerians know where they are coming from and on whose mandate and when was this mandate given to them.
"We have seen how the regional government was operated in the past. My part of the country that I am representing didn’t enjoy the development of that socalled regional government that was based in Kaduna.
“We aren’t going back there! I am speaking for my senatorial district. It is either the Nigerian federation or nothing. We can’t go along, my senatorial district will be satisfied independently with Nigeria, if that is what is required.
“As far as regional government is concerned, my constituency, my people, aren’t for it. What we need is the reform of the current Federal Government structure and fiscal federalism because there is nothing like true federalism.”
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, advised Nigerians against mistaken the establishment of the Zonal development commission for regionalism.
He said the various geopolitical zonal development commissions were strictly for the social and economic development of their areas.
He said: “It is wrong of anybody to think that the development commissions being established for the six geopolitical zones is a plan towards regionalism. It is not. “Those who are advocating for it should come up with bills through their representatives in the National Assembly and test the popularity of their proposal.”
Similarly, former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, said the idea of true federalism was no longer fashionable because many countries in Africa had discarded it.
He advocated the creation of strong institutions that would enhance good governance and curb corruption and insecurity.
"When the government put these in place, there won’t be clamour for true federalism because there will be justice, equity and fairness in all the regions of the country,” he said.
But the Chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TetFund, Senator Muntari Dandutse, representing Katsina South Senatorial District, disagreed with the proponents of regional government.
He said the essence of the ongoing retreat was to improve on the defects and anomalies discovered in the nation’s constitution over the years.
He said: “We should not have myopic thinking about ourselves. There is no section of this country that is not blessed. “What is important is that we should have good governance, a credible and responsible accessibility of the resources that we have, because Nigeria is blessed.
“We have all the comparative advantages that will move this country forward, unless of course we are serious and determined.” On their part, the Southern Senators described the agitation as a welcome development that would improve the economy, tackle insecurity and Fasttrack infrastructural development.
The Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, disagreed with those condemning the regional system of government.
Buhari said: “Recall that the regions were able to harness their resources in the First Republic. We were able to harness all our resources.
There was no dominance of a particular resource(s). “In those years, the North was known for the pyramid of groundnuts, the South West was known for cocoa.
We should be able to do that. “When you make the centre less attractive you cut off corruption. You can’t wipe it off, but you can cut it off, because there is what is called, watch your team. People will watch their team within their locality or within their region.
Asked whether the South West region has a specific agenda for the ongoing constitution review, he said it would be presented at the appropriate time.
He said: “We don’t want to disclose that agenda yet but we have agreed among ourselves that the person that is going to present that is the Chairman of the South West Forum when the time comes. It will be very unfair for me now as a member to start discussing that.”
https://independent.ng/constitution-review-northern-senators-reject-regionalism/ They blamed Ironsi for the unification of Nigeria yet, they are afraid of it's deconsolidation. What a country, what a people. The chickens have finally come to roost. Why would a people be afraid to live in flat but in different rooms? We are still going to be Nigerians so why the fear? Too complicated to unravel. |

God1000: I also support the two state solution, nobody should be denied the right to exist I sometimes laugh when I read your comments because you exhibit crass ignorance of what's going on in the middle east. Some of you have been brainwashed about the history of the Jews that you have even joined the propagandists in their lies. You support 2 state solution? Good. But do you know that the late PLO leader Arafat, was offered Gaza, west bank and Judea on a platter of gold when US president Clinton, brokered a peace treaty between Israel and Palestine, do you know what, Arafat chose to walk away? The problem is not a two state solution but the goal of Palestine is the destruction of the state of Israel. Read the Oslo accord and other peace agreement brokered in the past between Israel and Palestine and stop embarrassing your self on this forum. |
