Hi all, my younger brother got an ADR for tax form. I’m assuming that’s the tax clearance certificate which we have. The problem is the gross annual pay on the tax cert is different from the gross pay at his work place—it’s about 1M more on the tax cert. this is because he self declared his other source of income to the Internal Revenue Service in Ogun state. So from his employer, he earns 120k in a month but he does side gigs: lesson teacher, completes assignments for students in uni for cash payment around 10-11k every month and he declared it for taxes so they’ve just always added it to his primary employer’s tax deduction. But he didn’t declare this to IRCC cos he didn’t want to complicate his application since it’s a cash payment and no proof of it. Should we go ahead to submit the tax cert as requested and wait for an explanation or should we provide an explanation for the discrepancy upfront? I’ve read that putting extra info complicates applications that’s why we’re confused. I’d appreciate any advice pls. Thank you

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all you do. My brother has a Bachelor of Law from Babcock(3.99/5), has finished law school and currently working in a law firm roughly 2 years experience. He wants to do his LLM (intellectual law) in the US. We have applied to a bunch of schools. We have been reading through the threads and found it helpful. However we have some questions.
1. What other schools does anyone know of that has affordable tuition/offers scholarships to foreign students?
2. He got admission with 50% scholarship into Syracuse but it’s still expensive as we have to pay about 35kusd (scholarship deducted).
3. What are his chances of becoming a US lawyer afterwards? Has anyone gone through this process before
4. A friend suggested Mpower loan but I’m worried about the visa interview regarding the loan.

Thank you!

Hi guys, so I’m asking these questions on behalf of my brother. He is traditionally married with two kids and wants to start the PR process. Does he have to do the court wedding too? Or a traditional wedding will suffice?
Also he is a pharmacist. I saw that a pharmacist does not qualify for the healthcare category…BUT pharmacist technicians or assistants do. He worked as one for two years before he was able to his license in Nigeria (backstory, his pharmacy degree was from UK but moved back to Nigeria and worked as a pharmacy assistant for two years before he eventually got his license to practice in Nigeria) . So can he claim that even tho he is a pharmacist right now? Thank you

Hi everyone.

I have a couple of Nigerian friends here at work and we need some clarification on some stuff.

1. One of them here wants to use one year work experience in Canada to apply for express entry through the CEC route. Although the hiring letter says full time, the job is in shifts so there were like 2 months she didn’t get up to 30 hours of work because shifts weren’t available. Would she be able to just use a work reference letter referring to the full time work on her hiring letter ?

2. Another colleague hopes to get ITA soon as the principal applicant. She’s going to Naija to get married soon and wants to clarify if all she needs for her and her partner’s applications is just the court wedding certificate… no pictures or anything ? Or what else? She’s trying to prepare all documents before she goes home so she wouldn’t waste time.
Thank you !

I’m leaning towards CEC because the process is straight forward and does not require POF unlike FSW. Hope this clears up the confusion
Pateda26:
Read her post again if you may, she said she got the COVID19 testing job based on her WE in Nigeria meaning she's got foreign work experience and not having Canadian license is a concern! That's what I typed spoke to. Equally check out Graciouswords suggestions to her. Both messages are valid. Why is she focusing only on CEC since she is equally well positioned for FSW?
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by Switchbuck41: 9:56pm On Jul 07, 2022
Oh thank you so much. I didn’t realize I could do both. I’ll update the WE. Thank you
GraciousWords:
I think she's focusing on CEC which only uses her Canadian Work experience, she could not work as a Nurse in Canada because she has no license so she can't claim Nursing for CEC.

You are right that she can and should also use her Nigerian Nurse WE to boost her CRS points in general. It's a valid point. The Nursing from Nigeria will count towards FSW and the Canadian Lab work towards CEC.

Switchbuck, you should be updating ALL your WE that you can get a letter for from your current and previous employers. IRCC actually asks us to do this so that you open yourself up to all options available i.e. FSW as well as CEC.

Thank you so much. The job description actually fits as per the ‘Medical laboratory technician/assistant! (It’s exactly what I do). But one more concern, (Sorry to bother you), I checked and it says I need some sort of certification which I don’t have and I only got the job as a foreign nurse. I hope it doesn’t matter and I can go ahead with the application? What do you think please

Well done people with this thread. I’m a nurse from Nigeria but no Canadian license yet. Finished my masters in Canada and I work as a COVID tester now and I have about one year experience. I want to use CEC to get PR but I just realized I have no clue what the NOC code will be. It can’t be nursing since I’m not registered but I was hired because of my naija nursing experience you get. I’ve searched everywhere through Nairaland for pointers but to no avail. Pls help if you have any idea. job description s basically testing people for COVID and processing results. Thank you
