What do you think of Mnet Action. I'm not really into all that guns and blasting stuff but I still find a lot of quality programming on that channel.

I'm self-employed, it seems you are too, so I agree that one has to be careful and not lose sight of earning a living. Interesting, my wedding is next weekend, yet another distraction

Hi, now you got me interested in that DSD 900 of yours. I tried calling your number this morning but it was switched off.
I am considering getting your decoder for my DSTV and using my Strong for eTV (MYTV). Do you think the small 60cm HITV dish can work for MYTV (eTV) installation?

I encountered a bit of stress when I first paid the 4.3k too. The first day only 3 channels came up. They kept increasing until yesterday when I got about 47. But const6 is right, you get a better user experience when you use a good DSTV decoder for DSTV. If you want to get the one Const6 is offering, I'll lay off and let you have it. If not, please do let me know.

Pls get your subscription up and running soon. I need to compare experience with you. I didn't realize BET and E! were on the compact bouquet until this morning. In all I get 43 channels but I'm gonna scan for more today - the oliver twist thingy.

I reckon you plan on using your Strong decoder. That's what I'm using, I have no complaints.

Also, I have called DSTV customer care 3 times and I have spoken to very courteous and professional agents 3 times. I pray our HITV gets there one day.

Yeah friend, Hallmark shows some great recent movies. It is TCM that airs the old classics, they're not that bad too and you get them everyday from around 4pm after Mindset Learn.

I watched Idols on Mnet series 2 days ago. Really cool.

I'm sorry about Arsenal not giving you much joy lately. I support Man U but like you, I don't really need to see every game, at least not live all the time.

By the way, you mentioned liking TV5 Monde earlier. Why do you like that channel, do you speak french? Or is it because you can get to watch the french championat? They aired Lyon Vs Valenciennes last night.

Whatecver happened to the BET urfriend promised us on HITV. Na wa o. Just this evening a friend asked me to give him my HITV dish and stuff since I got new equipment for DSTV. I am seriously considering it. I guess that would make me unwelcome on this thread. umh?

My thoughts exactly. I paid for compact and like you said, it is top draw entertainment. I will pay for another month of HITV and then rest my smartcard until midway through the next premiership season. I'll be watching the early season matches delayed on DSTV Super Sports. I'll only go back to HITV when things are hotting up and better watched live. It is DSTV all the way from now on.

Regarding Amazing Race and Leverage, I can assure you you won't have much time to miss them when you immerse yourself in the limitless options on display with BBC Entertainment, Mnet Series, Mnet action, Hallmark etc.

I really wanted to watch HITV grow but it's a shame they don't seem to care about us. I have never been able to reach HITV customer services ever! You have a problem, you are on your own.

Something tells me HITV may lose the premiership rights next time around. I wonder what position that will put them then.

I see you're thinking of using DSTV alongside your HITV. It's not a bad idea. Now I only insert the HITV card when there's a premiership game on. I really wish they had addressed our problems with Hi life and hi kids.

If you have any information on how or where to get the strong dual sim decoder you mentioned, i'd appreciate you letting me know. Thanks.

Thanks man for the tip. It came a little too late again though. I changed to a 90cm dish this morning and I think I have all the channels now after doing the blind scan thing. So you really think I've wasted 8k?

I'm not sure urfriend got it right when he said we needed to upgrade our strong decoders to get hi life / hi kids. A friend of mine brought his HITV smartcard to visit yesterday, we slotted it in and alas! Hi kid and hi life came up on my screen. Too bad they went off when i replaced the smartcard with mine.

I guess this proves that it may not be something to do with upgrading after all. Maybe we have just been moved to 2nd class subscribers category

I wish you had responded earlier. I got the smartcard 2 days ago for 11k. I may still be interested in the decoder though. I'll have to wait till the installer comes tomorrow, it seems the small HITV dish can't pick all the DSTV channels. I can only view about 20, if installing a new 90cm dish doesn't work, I may be forced to take you up on the decoder.

Many thanks for sharing your experience. It's sad that HITV left us on our own leaving you with no option than to find a solution that may have led to the death of your decoder. Really sorry to hear that.

So you got yourself a new decoder. Did you go for the same strong 4653x? I use 4661x. I am also considering getting a DSTV smartcard to use alongside HITV. Do you know where I can get that and how much it will cost me?

This hi kids / hi life problem on strong decoders has really vexed me. It is bad enough that you are not getting the full complement of what you paid for; but the way we have been completely ignored by the hitv customer care folks is far more annoying.

A month ago I was recommending HITV to all my friends and relatives, now I have an egg on my face each time I see them. To be honest, I am starting to consider the options. I can bear all the problems as long as they treat us with some respect, some regard that is due subscription paying customers

My hi kids and hi life are still off. Urfriend promised to get back to us a couple of days ago. Maybe he forgot. I tried reaching customer care too but hit a brick wall. It's a bit frustrating.

There is a saying and I quote: "In business there are no permanent friends or enemies". It is not a case of supporting one cable company over another like one will support one football team over another one. Instead a subsciber should put his or her money where there is satisfaction for such a person. A DSTV subsciber can become a HITV or DaarSat subsciber tomorrow and vice-versa. It is one's interest that should be paramount.

Forthright as always. I can't disagree with you. But on a lighter note, I thought that quote applied only to politics. Does it means that I can do business with my enemy if money is to be made? I guess now I know why I am not as rich as I've always wanted.

Back to the subject, yes we have HITV, DSTV, DAARSAT and one or two others that people hardly mention anywhere. And they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Ultimately, like you implied, every man will choose the one that best suits his interests and pocket. I want to believe that the whole purpose of this talkshop is to share experiences and hopefully get the attention of these operators, hence engendering greater subscriber satisfaction.

Let me also mention that it is heartening to see that we are all conciliatory now. We can disagree and still enjoy our time here. Let brotherly love continue.

This is very uncalled for. How have we jumped to conclusions? We only told you what we are observing. We have not said HITV is messing us up. Your response verges on rudeness and it's just unfortunate.

Even if we had complained bitterly, I think we have the right to do so as subscription paying users of your network. Didn't you think it right to let your subscribers know that some of them may be losing hi kids and hi life due to whatever test you have scheduled?

I have been very careful whenever I post not to bad-mouth HITV because I thought you were still negotiating the learning curve and deserve some slack. However, your attitude to our concerns is far from professional.

We pay for this service hence we have the rights to complain when we encounter hitches; and you, if you truly represent HITV, ought to be more mollifying.

So when are your tests on hi kids and hi life ending, if that is not too much to ask.

So what do you think the problem could be? All other channels are showing without any hitch. Only Hi life and Hi kids say "no access"

I just finished re-scanning, no luck, it's still saying "no access" for both hi kids and hi life. I guess only urfriend can help now.

Quite strange! I still can't get Hi Kids and Hi life. soloqy, do you use a strong decoder like me? Could that be the problem? Although I don't see why that should be the case. I guess we have to wait till we here from urfriend.

I've spent the last few days tweaking my receiver, I thought the problem was from my end since nobody else was complaining. Hi Kids went off over a week ago and Hi life followed a few days later.

HITV should try and stop things like that from happenning. It aint cool.

Well said. I have been a subscriber for about 4months and have never set my eyes on a copy of the magazine. It doesn't really bother me; I guess unconciously one has come to expect very little QOS from Nigerian organisations. However, the last couple of weeks have been encouraging. So much improvement is being noticed with HITV. I hope they keep the momentum up.

I used to subscribe to DSTV compact, but got some of my equipment damaged when moving house, so I decided to take a leap of faith and throw my lot in with HITV. I can't say I have regretted that decision. I think HITV compares very favorably over DSTV compact. I know the DSTV premium bouquet by far edges HITV for now.

It's unfortunate you have to resort to this kind of attitude. The truth is no sensible person would put his money into something he knows nothing about. I am yet to meet anyone who has Daarsat, , and I have asked around. Even your website won't tell us anything, no demonstration avenues for prospective subscribers. Yet you expect us to just take your word for it and go get Daarsat.
Think about it, would you put even 5k into a deal like that.
Tell your people they have to do a little more creative marketing to convince Nigerians.

I'm sorry. I'm new at this stuff. I just did a manual scan and Fox Sports came up. If you can tell me how to locate the other number you require, I would post it. I use a strong decoder, if that is relevant.
