bassdow: if that's the only account accessible to you, then so long there's a place to enter your eAccount ID, you shouldn't have any issue. Worst case, they would give you a call to confirm it's actually You.
Additionally, could be more helpful sending them the confirmation screenshot via email and giving a followUp call during the business days to ensure they act quicker.
Mind you, during these holidays, expect services / responses to be slow.
Myself have always used quickTeller. Guess I might have been the very first person to do so because they really tried all they could to stop me until they gave up. Nowadays, we both have gotten used to each other sometimes they no longer even give any call BUT the money always reflects. Hmnn, thank you chief. Opay should be able to take the eAccount reference in the narration... |

Hi Stanbic folks.
I intend to topup my Stanbic mmf account using the UBA collection account and my unique ID eAccount reference. But I intend to use an opay account not the traditional/standard bank account I filled in for withdrawals and I used to pay in when I made the initial capital funding into the mmf earlier in the year.
Hope the opay funding will not complicate issues ? |

Preator: Nope, Cowrywise.
For Stanbic, i just "trust" that its been added. Energy to track the daily rates and increase no dey Lol, I can relate, at times I just wonder why they can't be explicit with daily rates and returns for customers to see all on the app. |

Preator: They responded that their engineers are looking at it but the money was added nonetheless. I haven't had time or energy to verify if that is so. Is this not on Stanbic MMF? How do you guys get to know transactions or returns of a certain day wasn't added? Especially if you're not calculating it everyday. The Stanbic MMF app isn't like cowrywise where you get to see the daily rates and returns for each day. Or Is there something I'm missing, kindly put me on pls. |

Secondly I am trying to bind my phone with the app but is just bouncing back Lastly, will I just transfer directly from my account to the E - account help a newbie. Thanks for your previous assistance Hi, heavenisreal18. To transfer to or fund your MMF account. From any bank you're using either by app or transfer from a branch to the UBA account number given, then fill the narration/purpose of transfer/reference as your e-Account number sent to your mail, ensure to do that before 12 noon so you can get returns for that day. As for binding, I can't say much, I didn't experience that. |
Investment › Re: Mutual Funds by synoble(m): 5:12pm On Aug 11, 2025 |
Neurotika: Let me say this for those at the back.
I’ve observed that when it comes to MMFs, there are generally two types of investors. The first believes rate fluctuations are normal and sticks with one fund no matter what, even if it falls below market average. The second reacts to significant dips, especially when returns drop below the market average, and moves their capital to sustain better yields.
Both approaches actually have their merits, depending on whether you’re taking a short or long position. I fall into the second category for one reason : I’m a long-term investor working with significant capital, and I always invest with a goal in mind. My benchmarks are built around certain expected rates, and if a fund’s performance becomes too erratic, it throws off my long-term projections.
For example, just a 1.5% lower rate sustained over 10 years on ₦100 million results in a loss of about ₦53.5m (using a conservative rate of 14 and 12.5 percent respectively). That’s not something I’m willing to ignore.
Therefore if you’re investing short-term, rate variations should not matter much unless you’re deploying serious capital. But if you’re locking huge funds for atleast a decade or more, you definitely should be seeking optimal yields.
Compounding works on three key variables: time, capital, and interest. If you’ve got the first two sufficiently but settle for less on the third, you’re simply shortchanging yourself.
Just my two cents…. Wow, 53.5M or 5.35M... We'll need to be sure about the figures... |

emmasoft: @bassdow, good job. It's simple and clear. However, when it comes to the mutual fund business MMF in particular, you will always have plus or minus at the final figures you get, but what you have done is commendable.
However, one thing I have done over the years to keep and maintain good mental health about my mutual fund investment is to just have faith in the system and believe they will do or are doing as stated in their fact sheets.
I was doing a lot of calculations and comparing rates a lot, but after some time, I just decided otherwise before a low-risk investment would begin to give me sleepless nights.
It's even better now. During the analogue days, everything was just by faith and trust.
By the way, for those using Stanbic and, by extension, other apps, understand that the app is just a window to view your investment account at the backend. What you see on the web portal/app is just representing your investment. Even if the app crashes, it has nothing to do with your investment; what simply happened is that one of the windows through which you view your account is having an issue, not your investment. Your investment is intact. What you see when you check your account online is not cash like your bank account.
For your investment to be converted to cash, the fund manager, custodian bank, and the trustees must be involved, unlike a debit on your bank account, where the money leaves your account immediately based on your instruction.
This is the reason why it takes a few hours before you get a credit alert when you make a withdrawal. If you check the original document, you will see redemption of most MMFs is stated as 2 to 3 working days - analogue days, but improved technology has made things easier.
Even at that, that it's still part of the process in the industry that a call be put through to the investor depending on the amount involved in the withdrawal process. A voice recording is part of the process; it's also the reason for the request of your BVN during registration to be sure any cash leaving your investment account is going to the right investor. Changing this registered bank account also has a process to pass through.
All the traditional fund managers still have the first principle way of fund withdrawal, ie, using the redemption form, even when there is no website or app, investors will still get their money.
I just say the above to allay our fears concerning some experiences with the app/web portal of Stanbic Asset Management over this weekend.
Let's not panic, your investments are safe and remain a low-risk investment with your capital and varied returns guaranteed. But does Stanbic MMF ever send the breakdown of the daily returns for the 30 or 90 days and the respective rates applied say maybe after the month or a quarter just like bank statements like traditional banks do. I started this in July, I'm left to just checking the app and hoping things go well.... Cowrywise app interface looks better with all information the investors need daily... |

bassdow: Done the Bolded. As for ML predictor, That's outside objective of the calculator which is simplicity. What I intends doing later is adding feature to show latest rates per provider + equally show the provider with highest stable rate BUT guess that would take a while as lots of providers seem not to even follow their rates. That's the few that even list to begin with. Nice, makes sense... well-done... |

FRANKLYex: It has been established here that apart from Cowrywise that applies the rate the publish on their site each day without any variation, every other fund manager are not very transparent in this aspect. What I have published up there is the actual which you can verify yourself. It's a simple calculation. Apply the rate on your principal and multiply by 365. Let me know if you have what they published on their site as the rate. I don't know how they do their calculation. Only Cowrywise tallies per time Hmnn....it's now looking complex. So from my calculation. Rates from August 1 to august 7 on my blunest app profile are 20.01, 20.01, 20.01, 20.01, 19.65, 19.41, 19.52, take note that as at this moment, rate for yesterday 8th august is yet to be logged on the fund price section of the app. But the amount is updated already on my dashboard, I can predict from my calculation that yesterday's rate is ~19.72. Total amount on dashboard tallies with the rates I wrote up there for my investment after my calculations. So now, I'm wondering where you got the rates for Aug 1, 4 & 5 you put up on the previous page, cuz it's different from mine... |

emmasoft: @synoble rates of mutual funds particularly MMF doesn't depend on the amount invested and don't vary from client to client. Whatever is displayed applies to all irrespective of the amount invested and the rate is daily valued depending largely on the underlying asset Thank you...Exactly my thought. But the rates Franklyex shared was different when I compared to the rates on the blunest app.hence my surprise |

FRANKLYex: This is the actual with STANBIC having factored in their monthly reinvestment scheme. Hi Franklyex Please where did you fetch this rates from. It appears to be different from what is seen on my blunest app when I navigate to the 'fund price' section. For Aug 1, 4 & 5 I'm seeing 20.01, 20.01 & 19.65 respectively. Could it be that these asset managers are maintaining different rates for their clients depending on their capital. I hope not. Cc: emmasoft |
