zaza1: My neighbour works for Ecobank and I know for a fact she doesn't work on Saturday or Sunday..she is well paid and she is even getting fatter.I think those working weekends r in specific departments and as a result have to work..do you think your atms,your pos,etc would function so well at the weekend without someone working?..market women and other traders also work weekends,how about OAPs on radio and TV?These ones work whether it is public holiday,weekend,etc..so like other people have said,they can resign if they r not happy and start their own businesses or find another bank that doesn't work weekends.

There is a difference between slavery and working long hours... In as much as i have not seen what is on the inside, the little i know doesn't seem to translate to slavery

If long hours or overtime is not stipulated in their contracts, then they have options ... Either protest, seek the intervention of workers union or quit, simple!

morningsta: While this issue is not limited to EcoBank alone,it is a disturbing trend that needs to be checked before it spreads other sectors. There are very few banks today that will not find one reason or the other to make their staff work Saturdays and Sundays aside from closing at odd hours, and God help you if you are later than 7am on weekdays. I wonder why nobody is taking them up on such abuse of workers rights.

It has come to our notice that the management team of Eco Bank Nig Plc for upward of 2 years have decided to treat its staff like slaves. They make the staffs work till very late from Monday to Friday, and compel them to be at work on most saturdays and sundays. Please in God's name who is the Group head Operations of the Bank, who ever you are, this is not being productive or getting the best from your staffs. you compel staffs to be at there desks on saturday and sunday under the disguise of

it must be noted that Eco Bank Nig is not the only bank that either acquired of merged with another bank, how come years after staffs of the bank are still compelled to go to work on saturday and sunday.
All i would like to know is if Eco Bank Nig were to be paying its staff on hourly basis, would this be happening?

Do you know what is in the contract of each employees?

If you dont know and you dont work there, you dont have any case!
