bravesoul247: U.S. tech giant Google has reiterated its commitment to protect users after a media report said third-party app developers were allowed by Google to read emails of its Gmail users.
Suzanne Frey, director of Google’s security, trust and privacy division of Google Cloud, said the Internet behemoth always gives Gmail users great control over their privacy and sensitive data.
With the recent partnership with Chinese Mobile Technology Giant, TECNO Mobile that has adopted the Android GO EDITION in it's latest Spark2 device, She stated "before a published, non-Google app can access your Gmail messages, it goes through a multi-step review process that includes automated and manual review of the developer, assessment of the app’s privacy policy and homepage to ensure it is a legitimate app, and in-app testing to ensure the app works as it says it does".
She said Google would not allow apps to pose “as one thing and do another, and (they) must have clear and prominent privacy disclosures.”
“Before a non-Google app is able to access your data, we show a permissions screen that clearly shows the types of data the app can access and how it can use that data,” Frey said.
She advised Google users to use the company’s Security Checkup tool to check what devices have logged into their accounts, which third-party apps have access to their Gmail, and what permissions those apps have.
She said Google works hard to ensure companies and individuals do not misrepresent themselves and ask only for the relevant data they need for their specific function.
“No one at Google reads your Gmail, except in very specific cases where you ask us to and give consent, or where we need to for security purposes, such as investigating a bug or abuse,” Frey said.
Can someone please recommend a Tecno phone that comes with an awesome camera? I need it to document my travel experiences. I'm always fascinated by the nice pictures that travel bloggers take and I want my pics to look like that.
you have said it all bro, thats why am in all smiles when i rock my tecno spark.
edewojames: Do you know! Samsung made a smartphone with 3500 mAh battery. The phone caught fire. Tecno made a phone with 5000 mAh battery, no report of fire issues.
Guys shut this issue. Phone is Phone. No one is bad. Everyone has what brand favors them. I may buy a Samsung phone and get issues or buy a infinix or what ever brand and may not have issue and vice versa. No phone is totally good and no one is totally bad. + Don't forget phones are usually screened for bad ones during mass production. However, as a result of the use of statistics, not all phones are screened. So, its likely, the you may buy the a phone that wasn't screened and was bad. So, to me, no smartphone is totally perfect. Even I phones are complained of out there.
