That happens to a lot of people, unfortunately. The best course of action is to be completely candid and honest about what happened. If you qualify for a visa now, as long as you don't try to hide what happened in the past, the officer will likely be inclined to listen sympathetically.

thank you soo much v o,God will ever bless your hand work and your entire family.i will tell you how this matter came up.it has been my dream to go to America.3years back i meet an agent and explain if he can help process the visa and he charged me 1m i sold my small car and i borrowed 850k from my work place,he started asking me of my passport i told him i already have one and he replied me by saying that i will use one package called look alike package,honestly i did not know what this guy was even saying.after that he told me to go to immigration HQ to change my passport to a person name and age i did that and he started helping me with the process mean while it was that person that won visa lottery and when i went for interview i was denied.now i dont know what to do because i still have the mind to travel to U S A.assuming i new what travewling is all about then i would not have fall a victim.so pls what do you think i can do because now i have change my paasport to my real name now.reply thanks

Unless there's more to the story than you've written here, no one's going to arrest you for having used a false identity in the past. You'll have to be very credible to convince us that you're telling the truth in your next interview, but if you can convince the officer that you intend to use the visa correctly, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that you could receive a visa.

And I will not be arrested or put to jail?
