I am surprised this has yet to be reported on Nairaland: Ngige Wins Anambra Central Senatorial election The returning officer for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Alex Anene has declared the Action Congress of Nigeria Candidate [ACN], Dr. Chris Ngige as winner of the elections. Mr. Anene returned to declare Dr. Ngige the winner after initially going underground because of what he claimed as threats to his life by officials of the state government and the All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA], after his refusal to declare their candidate, Prof. Dora Akunyili as winner. He also claimed to have turned down bribes of money and property offered by the party. In a press statement, Anene said "I have dutifully collated the results of the election from Forms EC8C. In instances where Form EC8C is unavailable as in Njikoka LGA, I have resorted to computing the votes from Form EC 8B and in some cases from Form EC 8A. I have painstakingly done these to arrive at the numbers which I have entered in the Form EC 8D and finally into EC 8E. "I note that in presenting Forms EC 8C to me, none of the Collation Officers had any INEC Form EC 40G (1) which is the authorization form for canceling any result. Since none was shown or given to me, I did not cancel any result. "Nevertheless, I have computed and verified these numbers and have also duly entered them on the Form EC 8D which is the Senatorial District Election Form. In compliance with step 4 of the Independent National Electoral Commission Manual for Senatorial Election, this is the result of the votes obtained by the candidates of the different political parties". The result as read by the returning officer for the Anambra Senatorial district is: Accord Party- 20,847 votes ACN- 68,208votes ADC-1,861 votes ALP- 927 votes ANPP-1,106 votes APGA- 68,164 votes CDC-422 votes CPC-1,081 votes LP- 395 votes NDP-115 votes PDP-18,176 votes PPA- 370 votes He debunked rumours of result cancellation saying no election was nullified in any of the wards because he alone had the official cancellation forms. http://channelstv.com/global/news_details.php?nid=26653&cat=Election%20News |

New INEC boss lists priorities By Ben Agande (VANGUARD) May 13, 2010 ABUJA—The new Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prince Solomon Adedeji, who resumed office, yesterday, promised that his leadership would focus on what he called ”the purification of the voters’ register’ to ensure a credible election in 2011. In his maiden meeting with senior staff of the commission yesterday, Prince Adedeji said though the task ahead and the challenges are very enormous, ‘we will ensure that we do not spare any thought, at least in attaining the task entrusted on us by the Constitution’ and called for patience from members of the Nigerian public. According to Prince Adedeji, although Professor Maurice Iwu has left as chairman of the commission, he and his team would do everything to ensure a smooth transition “What we have in focus here is the 2011 elections and what we are going to talk about today is a way of fast tracking or at least a way of sanitizing the processes that will lead to a very credible election. “We are all aware in this Commission that the electoral process in the country has only one direction left and that is forward. And the Commission is ever ready, it has been following events and you will discover that we have made plans to make surethat we have a very free and fair election come 2011. The major task ahead of us right now is the full sensitization and of course, what we call the purification of the voters register. “ We have used the register in quite a number of bye-elections we have not used some since the 2007 elections and the greatest task as I said is to make sure that we produce a voters register that is very credible which can be used for the election. From time to time, we will brief the public about our preparedness and about our readiness and about their involvement to ensure that we have a very nice election” he said. The acting INEC boss promised to be open and transparent in his dealings and would expand the scope of stakeholders that the commission would engage in ensuring that better result is achieved in its goals. “We are going to be open, we are going to be very involving, we are going to expand our coast in terms of stakeholders and of course we are going to be very honest with the whole country. We are mindful of the fact that the commission occupies a very vital role in the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria. To this end, we will ensure that we don’t spare any thought at least in attaining the task entrusted on us by the Constitution. And we are going to make sure that at least, we are going to obey every rule of the law that set us up. my appeal is that you (the public) should be patient with us and we shall be more involved”. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/05/13/new-inec-boss-lists-priorities/ |

Ruq:Oh yeah you have "valliums"? Yeah right. Okay, tell me, how many tablets? |
Ruq:I know, I know, poor me. First I'm a "freak". And as if that isn't enough, I am also "lonely" But hey, tarry me not; there's yet hope for ME: I am not as lonely as one to start a thread on "which thread in Nigeria has the most flashiest wedding" ![]() |
* Why should it bother anybody what anyone converts to? Mind your business and your faith and leave your God or Allah to do his battle Himself. Oh and by the way, yehmi01, so much for "Jesus died for Mohammed". Na so una dey misyarn. Arrogant Christians giving Christianity a bad name. |
* Hey Ruq, which Nigerian tribe has the most freakiest people? ![]() |
* Make ah add my yown: Abeg which Nigerian tribe 'as the most flashiest Mercedes? ![]() |
# Nna where is the source of this news abeg? |
# Okay, this is a tough one. There's no point rapping you on the head because it appears, I hope, that you have already come to terms with your mistake. There's no magic advice here beyond humbly re-presenting yourself to her in truth and asking for her forgiveness. Let her know how much she means to you and see if it works. If it doesn't work, my friend, keep searching. There's plenty of fish in the Atlantic. Goodluck. |
# You remind me of the materialistic amongst us Nigerians who'd rather get into debt to have a wedding like the Jones'. Or don't you have anything better to do than seeking out which Nigerian "tribe" has the "most flashiest" wedding? You are better off working on ensuring that your grammar becomes the "most flashiest" around here, I tell you. |
Facebook is hang-out spot for a lot of weird, attention-seeking exhibitionists: self-deniers, new-money Nigerians (who have just arrived Dubai, London to buy a Polo shirt or a LV bag), gawkers, pretenders ("I am happy but the truth is I am a miserable sod looking to be noticed), etc. Nairaland? I don't know yet. I heard there are a lot of smart, naughty folks here. Whether that is true or not, we shall find out in the days ahead. |
