Yeah,if only NYSC helps ones career and future I would have advised you to do it.Not a tough choice,if I were in your shoes when i was about going for NYSC I will have chosen the USA option. One thing I found out is that traveling for most middle class and below families is usually an opportunity that you may only have one shot at...if you don't take your chance it may never happen again especially if someone is sponsoring you. Do u plan returning to Nigeria? What conversation have u had with the family assisting you in USA about that topic? I completed NYSC...i never got any job opportunity/interview to even mention that I have the certificate self..eventually fled naija,I am forever glad I did. I hope u make the best decision and u do not regret your choice. Best wishes to you. |
I have heard this line a lot of times. My only question is just that, how are these same graduates travelling abroad and holding good jobs?I know a lot off hand that are working for major companies, financial institutions and even foreign governments in their countries of abode.I guess what it takes to be "employable" in Nigeria is different from the western world. |
I have my my doubts about this story.it sounds like the lady edited (to naija version) this story on daily mail (see the link below) cos the story seem a bit similar. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-5330933/Real-lives-fell-love-homeless-man.html I do not have the hard facts to dispute her claim but read the above link and decide for your self. |
Personally,I am not against anyone staying in Nigeria.Every man to himself I guess.Nigeria was not working for me instead I was frustrated with joblessness and empty pocket. I work in a field where I get to meet new immigrants in Canada. I have met a lot of my fellow country men, some are professionals in the banking industry...engineers and when we chat, they always tell me things are getting out of hand and they had to relocate for their kids sake cos they are not encouraged for the future.I salute their courage to leave certainty (life back home and well paying jobs) for uncertainty (new country and starting afresh with no guarantees). Some of us did not make such tough decisions as we were jobless anyway so we had nothing to lose by relocating (it cldnt get any worse if it did not work out). There are a lot of things missing in this conversation though. For me apart from the opportunities living in abroad offers me, I appreciate the fact that I can go to bed without worrying if armed robbers might visit my house over night. How about the ritualist lurking in danfo?I appreciate the fact that my power is 24.7 and if at all it will go off (which rarely happens)...they will announce in the radio.Few years ago,I fell ill spent like 2 weeks in d hospital on admission(saw doctors, specialist and lot of tests)..guess what? By the time I was discharged I did not pay a single dollar.visit to your doctor is free. I can go on and on and for me.Can any one quantify peace of mind? Yes, you will pay bills and taxes. As those amenities are not free but for me I will gladly keep paying as long as I am getting value for my money. Even though i can relate to Mr. Ogendengbe's experience I still disagree with his shithole comment. Those that are staying...best of luck. Those that are planning to leave:best wishes too. |
I understand the guy's view.Naija will make you useless and depressed. After my NYSC,frustration engulfed me as no job was forthcoming. Was fortunate to get a visa to Canada. The truth is my first job in Canada was in a warehouse (got d job in less than a month of applying, had like 2 offers but chose this) but I cared less because I was getting paid every 2 weeks.I was been paid 15.50/hour back then (over 5 years ago now).its a low wage job according to Canadian standard. After tax,it's like approximately 1k biweekly(I did not do a 2nd job, another person would have). I was not making 100 naira in a month in Naija before I left even with my undergrad degree. If you ask me if I would do it again:my job in the warehouse earning 15.50 an hour or submitting resume everywhere in Lagos and Ibadan, hoping for jobs that don't exist.I will tell u...i will do it a thousand times again. |
Feel free to give it a shot but I hope you have your green card or citizenship sha? Just in case things don't turn out well,u can fall back on that option. Here lies the issue, many pple back home are looking at options to leave while u are going back.just make sure you have your paali. If your status in the USA is the issue maybe u should give Canada a try through their "Express entry" program.Your education and experience might serve you well (though other factors will still be considered too). You can even try from Nigeria coz you may not be able to if you lose your status in USA.best wishes. |
I don't know who is telling the truth but the lady did not do herself alot of good as per this case.If you are going to allege something as huge as Rape against someone, the least u can do is to have as much evidence that will support your case if not it will just be a "he said, she said" situation. She said she does not have their chats anymore that they have been deleted or something. How can a lawyer make a case for you considering this happen months ago?No rape kit...no witness..only both of you. Those text messages would have helped her case alot.maybe she told others about her experience with him which they may be able to corroborate her allegations but that is still "he said, they said" which might not go too far in a court of law. Knowing ow the naija court of law works.I hope for the best outcome that if she lied, she should be punished and if he raped her,he should be locked up too.I am sorry but it does not look too good for her. |
Lovemeplease:Let your wife get a student visa before you consider the rest of the family application. If all members of family applies the same time, dont you think it may appear like you all are trying to relocate permanently illegally(that study is not the primary purpose of traveling)? Besides, you will have a better case for your own visa(visit or work permit) and kids visa if your wife is already studying in Canada. Also, please consider the cost before doing this, once your wife is in school she will be busy that she may have to put your 2 kids in day care(depending on their age)...daycares are not cheap in Canada o.do your research as i am sure u want your wife to be able to focus while in school. |
10shuare:Be careful with agents. Please make a careful decision as per Canada and Hungary.Do not go for the other just cause the other application process has not gone smoothly. A friend abandoned Canada due to the stress and his visa denial.Went to UK as their visa process is easier..got a visa...went for Msc after 2 years...he had no choice and his back to Nigeria. Now his trying to enter Canada again,if only he tried Canada after the first denial...maybe he may have been granted a visa. And then he will have gotten a 3 years post grad work permit, which most times you will get your permanent residence before it expires.now there is no financial support to get him to Canada like there was when he did the uk application.Do not rush this decision, most people only get one shot at it. |
No one knows if there is an agreement btw TSTV and BEIN.The person this dude chatted with is a Customer service agent, even if there was such. an agreement this agent might not know as such decisions will have been struck with top management of BEIN. TSN network in Canada broadcast NBSN in the USA for EPL matches atimes. While watching the broad cast, you will always see the warning on the screen that "The broadcast is meant to be viewed in USA only". But Canadians are watching that same broadcast and reading the message on the screen that it's meant to be viewed in USA only. Does that mean there is no agreement btw TSN (Canada) and NBSN (USA)? I don't think so.Considering how the rule of law works in North America and the reputation of TSN, I do not think they will just broadcast NBSN without obtaining the rights to do that in Canada. I just don't think so.So the message on the screen might not mean much...we may never know. if TSTV says they have the right...then give them the benefit of doubt,If they don't they open themselves to huge law suits. |
