NIGERIA THE DIEING COUNTRY

Nigeria, The so called Gaint of Africa. A country with alot of natural and mineral resources but still a Country on the brink of commiting suicide even with the mass wealth that can be generated from it's land.
THIS MESSAGE IS TO EVERY NIGERIAN CITIZEN
Our country Nigeria has been divided for so long, we have never been one to make our Nigeria great. Let me remind you "na only one nigeria we get o, no spare one!". This country consist of 371 ethnic groups which makes it too diverse and also kind of makes it hard for the country to have one opinion, beliefs, political veiw and agreement, but apart from ethnic differences we are still one because we all consist to make this country Nigeria. But we as citizens have little or no idea about what is going on in our politics and this makes our so called "leaders" who rules instead of serving this country like it is their family inheritance which is making them have too much control over we the citizens, they take turns ruling our beloved country and controling our lives like puppets. And we the citizens don't even know our rights as a citizen in a democratic country, a lot of us don't know the laws and constitution of Nigeria and most of us don't care to know with reasons which we can blame on ignorance, stubbornness, illiteracy, poverty, lack of global awareness and this are in fact still the fault of our bad government who have drained the esteem and diginty of the citizens of Nigeria. But now CHANGE has arrived through the #EndSARS protest and citizens of Nigeria are voicing out to the bad government and making their vioce heard worldwide and i want to take a little time to say "i'm happy, grateful and full of joy that Nigerians are standing up for themselves and their country for CHANGE and they are not backing out this time, there is a loving feeling in my heart for everyone who wants CHANGE and are fighting for it and to every soul that has been lost from this fight MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE we will never forget your sacrifice, it was a lot and it must worth fighting for this CHANGE".
We all know something starts from somewhere and there are 4 types of people in Nigeria right now. There are people causing violence around the country which we can all believe they are doing it for unrelated causes, and many of us yelling #EndSARS online and on the streets while there are people who hates what is going on and wants everything to go back to normal, that is; continue suffering in a country with enough riches to quench the hunger of the whole west Africa for years to come. And there are the ones that don't understand or has no idea what is going on in the country.
But first let's talk about the people causing unwanted violence, the people creating violence through this #EndSARS protest don't know the aim of the protest and outrage of the #EndSARS movement, they are just bringing out the anger of their years of suffering in this country and trying to cause commotion in the country and we protesting #EndSARS many don't know or have a plan forward after the outrage has die down, they just want the current government out without caring if the next government will be better or worse for the country, and the ones that want people to stop protesting and supports the government with disagreeing with the protesters. I believe they prefer the insecurity, suffering, bullying and torture from the government or they are actually the government themselves Because they don't know any better, and now to the last ones who don't understand or have an idea about what is going on in the country and they don't know which side they should be on which i should advise "be on the #EndSARS side" because i believe we are all tired of suffering in the hands of the government who are to protect us and a country that has riches in abundance to take good care of the citizens with ease but with the government we have been having it seems impossible because they have no leadership skills, no foresight and they are greedy, narcissistic, wicked and lazy. And to the politicians, commissioners and ministers stealing the country's property why would you be so greed and wicked to take what is not yours even with the amount of salaries you are been payed every month but you still steal and embezzle money that has no value to you when you are dead? Instead of you making good use of it to help the people in your country from suffering, just know this THERE IS A LOT OF DEATHS IN YOUR HANDS AND YOU WILL STILL FACE THE JUDGEMENT.
And this is why we need to elect new candidates who loves this country and care for the citizens. So this is now the time for real CHANGE and the #EndSARS has provided this as the time for the REVOLUTION Nigerians needs and that is why we all need to support the #EndSARS movement. It's time for Nigerians to show the government and the world we can be in charge of our lives and no more in shackles of our bad governments that have been ruling us like sheeps for decades, it's time to make the right decision by ourselves which i believe 100% of Nigerian citizens can agree with me but this is where the problem is. Everyone is in anger with what is going on in the country so this is the question:
WHAT DO WE WANT?, WHAT DO WE WANT TO CHANGE?, WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACHIEVE? and here is the answer which i believe should be 85% agreeable to by all Nigerians who are angry and tired of suffering.
The two influential political parties we have has been in control of the government for years fighting and hating each other and not bringing any benefit to the country or the citizens, they are so corrupt, so full of greed and don't care about anything else but themselves. So we need a new party which has been formed by our youth called YOUTH DEMOCRATIC PARTY (YDP) i don't know if the party was seriously made or just for the #EndSARS sake but this party should be taken seriously and officially announced to create awareness to Nigerians, and every Nigerian who want change should be in support of this party because this party will be filled with young candidates with good mindset who are capable of serving our country Nigeria. When this party is created we would appoint each candidates capable, to run for different post in all the political sector from local government officials to the presidential seat and this candidates are going to be citizens that has leadership skill, loves, care and most importantly has a plan and vision for a greater Nigeria. We must make all these successful so as to take down every single corrupt politician the peaceful and rightful way, and when this are done with the new government which we have filled with new and young minds who cares and thinks about the future of Nigeria, we will be able to solve the problem that our old government are unable to solve. And the following are;
● reduction of poverty rate.

● reduction of unemployment rate.

● stable electricity & power supply.

● more focus on industrialisation in the country.

● repair of bad roads & modernisation of more roads.

● less importation of products that can be possibly manufactured in the country & and more exportation out of the country.

● more exportation of other resources apart from crude oil & new refineries made for crude oil production.

● citizens awareness of their fundamental human rights & the laws and constitution of Nigeria.

● monitoring of borrowed loans and public funds issued to all government sectors to avoid embezzlement of funds.

● strict laws to prosecute any government officials that embezzles the country's public funds.

● removal of any corrupt government officials.

● increase in salaries of every public servants.

● increase in salaries of every junior officers in the security & millitary sectors.

● provision of more security in the country to tackle insecurity.

● counter of terrorism attacks in the country.

● reduction of taxes on food production & reduction of prices on every commodities.

● more free schools, hospitals, bus transport and other infrastructure will be established.

● distribution of free food and clothing to the needy.

● more funding into the farming sectors.

● more funding into the technology sectors in the country.

● reorganisation of the prison sectors.

● establishment of agencies to tackle corrupt, insecurity, terrorism and to provide health care, education, unemployment and free housing to the homeless.

There are still more problems but this are all i can possibly get together and with all these done there will be less insecurities, unemployment, violence, corruption and improved public services, good monetary flow, higher average income, local investment and many more benefits. The economy will be strong as ever before which will favour us nationally and internationally. Nigeria will not be a depressed country, every citizen will get his/her share from the national cake, and we would be ranked amongst the powerful countries like USA, UK, Russia, France. It's a fact we all know, Nigeria is a powerful country in Africa so it's possible. Everything been said above will be a successful agenda if the youths, our mothers and fathers, our grandparents, our public servants, our police forces, our millitary forces and everyone who is a Nigerian should be in support of this vision because everyone is going to benefit from this vision. DON'T BE IN SUPPORT OF ANY CORRUPT GOVERNMENT, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AND POWER TO TAKE THEM OUT. WE ARE STRONG IN NUMBERS LET'S STAND UP TOGETHER.
But before all this can come to place we all need to work together no more tribal differences instead one love for ourselves and country we are all brothers and sisters there should be no hate. That's how successful countries made their dreams come true because they love their selves and their country, don't run to another person's country for better life, CHANGE starts from me and you, every good thing is possible in Nigeria if we want good governance let's start working together it's the only way. THE TIME HAS COME FOR THE MILLENNIALS OF OUR GREAT NATION TO LEAD THE WAY OR OUR FUTURE WILL BE IN SHAMBLES.

To everyone reading the message share it to everyone and every social platform. This message should get to least 10 million Nigerians and it is possible with your help. Make it viral if you want CHANGE in Nigeria.

Education / Re: Greedy Nigerian Professors And Their Fat Salaries by taurinee(m): 1:34pm On Oct 14, 2020
onyeka205:
Greedy Nigerian Professors And Their Fat Salaries | Oludayo Tade
By Adebayo Abdulrahman - October 13, 2020

"What we are saying is that if the Federal Government would reduce its profligacy and cut waste, there will be enough money to pay teachers in public universities, as well as fund research and upgrade infrastructure in such institutions. Hungry teachers can neither teach well nor carry out research. And poorly-taught students can neither excel nor propel their nation to great heights" (APC Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Daily Post, August 21, 2013)

The perennial onslaught on public education has been taken to the next level by this administration with the statement by Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba that the bulk of the national budget on education is used to pay the salaries of 10,500 Professors in the public University system. In his interview with the Punch newspapers, Nwajiuba averred that strike by University lecturers is a major factor driving students abroad and to private universities. In this piece, I provide available facts to put the records straight with regards to the salary of lecturers; and go further to argue as to why lecturers deserve appropriate wages that will guarantee value commensurate with what they give to the academic system and the society. In 2012 when the federal government carried out the needs assessment of the Nigerian universities, it was found that out of the 37,504 lecturers, 28,128 of them were full time and pensionable. Since then, there has been no major recruitment of academic staff despite the usual attrition on account of resignations, retirement and demise. This is what forced few academics to take up the burden of work meant for many lecturers necessitating the issue of earned academic allowances in the ASUU-FGN agreement of 2009. From 2013 to 2020, government owes lecturers Billions of naira but these lecturers have no right to complain over their duly earned entitlements in the wisdom of the government. The ASUU-FGN agreement of 2009 stipulated that a lecturer I is to be paid N15,000, Senior lecturer (N20,000) and Professor (N25,000) per annum per student for supervision. The lecturers now described as selfish and gluttonous are yet to be paid for several years of supervising students. An external examiner is supposed to be paid N80,000 for a Master dissertation and N105,000 for Doctoral examination. The internal examiner for the same purposes ought to be paid N45, 000 and N65, 000 respectively but these only exists in the agreement and have not been implemented for eleven years! In Nwajiuba’s wisdom, these are not issues to go on strike for.
University Lecturers are over-stretched and least paid when compared with lecturers in polytechnics and colleges of Education despite the fact that ninety seven percent of UTME applicants prefer University Education to Polytechnic or Colleges of Education. In 2018, 1,558,686 of UTME candidates chose University, 24524 (NCE) and 69712 (Polytechnic). Less than ten percent of degree pursuing applicants chooses private varsities. In 2009, both the Federal Government and ASUU came up with two salary tables (I and II). Table II was called the African average salary payable across the continent but government pleaded that the Table I which undervalues intellectualism should be used to pay lecturers till such a time the government is able to raise funds to meet the African average salary. ASUU’s altruistic disposition made the body agree to receive less while doing more work. Unfortunately, it is now eleven years of receipt of slave-like wage which assuredly will make colleagues in Ugandan public varsities universities cringe! The salaries of the selfish Nigerian lecturers by cadre are as follows: Assistant lecturer (N118,277 -N137, 334); lecturer II has a doctorate degree (N129, 724 – N153, 563);Lecturer I has at least three years post-PhD experience on the job (N160, 809 – N203, 778), Senior lecturer with at least six years experience on the job (N222,229 –314, 159), Associate professor (with at least nine years experience on the job: N277, 179 – N350, 169) and a Full Professor with twelve and more years experience on the job (N332, 833 – 416, 743). They get these after tax and other deductions. Before deductions, a newly appointed Full Professor has N437, 499 and after deductions he is paid N332, 833 monthly. A Professor “at the bar”, is one who has spent ten years as a professor and that is when he/she can earn consolidated pay of N555, 351 and following deductions their net pay comes down to N416, 743 monthly!
In Ugandan public varsities, Assistant Lecturer earns $1,631; Senior lecturer ($2,432), Associate Professor ($3,891) and Professor ($4,054) per month respectively. In University of South Africa, Junior lecturer earns (N10, 453, 326 – N17,427,663), Lecturer (N12,547,744-N20,910,248), Senior Lecturer(N16,272,983 – N27,891,819), Associate Professor (N20,224,232 – N32,564,902) and Professor (N22,325,844 – N37,209,741) per annum. Does this explain why we can hardly attract any international scholar to our public varsities? Mind you, the mix of international scholars and students is among the items considered in ranking universities internationally. Are you still wondering why South Africa almost always occupies the top spaces in varsity rankings in Africa? In South Africa, scholars have research votes and funds set aside to support participation in international conferences. For every publication in rated journals, a lecturer in the orange country is incentivised so also is the Department and the Faculty towhich the scholar belongs. So no one jokes with a productive and NRF-rated scholar in South Africa. They also pay for their scholars to publish in high impact journals to increase citations. In Nigeria, such funds do not exist in practice. That the University of Ibadan, for instance, still ranks among the best in the world is largely the outcome of the personal sweat of committed scholars in the institution and not because there is any special incentive system in place. Lecturers are even sometimes forced to take loans to attend international conferences because their institutions shockingly include it as a condition for promotion. It thus usually feels awkward to tell colleagues from institutions where conference funding is provided that you as a scholar from Nigeria borrowed money to attend a conference. Such is the character of the parasitic Nigerian system where the knowledge economy is relegated and personal interest is elevated. Is it not difficult to imagine that the former Interim National Publicity Secretary of All Progressive Congress, who is now Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who uttered the opening excerpts of this piece is part of a government that does not believe in what he said in 2013?
While South Africa voted 396billion Rand to education in 2020, President Buhari’s2021 budget allocated 691.07billion to Education representing 6.7percent of the entire budget, a gross shortfall to the UNESCO prescribed minimum of 26percent. Unlike the lie of the Minister of State for Education that the bulk of the Education budget is used to cater for 10,500 Professors, the 691.07billion is to cater for 28 education parastatals, 37 federal Universities, 25 federal polytechnics, 21 federal colleges of education and 104 Unity schools! Know your leaders and what to believe from their statements. The government that cannot fund research also actively frustrate funders from supporting Nigerian researchers with their policies. Rather than releasing funds to researchers promptly, Bursars often have to go to Abuja for approval to withdraw. I am aware of grant funds that are yet to be paid for a year due to the bottlenecks of Treasury single account! Interestingly, lecturers with their poor wages now make contributions in order to donate printing papers to run their Departments. No functional internet, dilapidated lecture rooms, laboratories that parade equipment of the 1980s and comatose power supply all of which hinder delivery of qualitative teaching and research. The ruling class know this and train their children in the global north. At their return, they reserve jobs for them in NNPC, FIRS, and Central Bank. For the children of the poor, they are expected to join community policing recruitment exercise of the Inspector General of Police where recruitment will still be hijacked by the same political class. Whichever way, the masses are short-changed.
Only the children of the rich and those in government can go abroad not the children of the masses. Many of the latter write JAMB yearly but the want of space and dilapidated infrastructure as well as insufficient lecturers cannot make UI for instance take more than around 3,000 instead of about 12,000 which is the quota it has. Is it not sensible to reckon that with improved infrastructure, space for admission will increase and more people will get admitted? IPPIS is a distraction and not the reason ASUU is on strike. There are two options: support ASUU for the improved conditions of service and revitalisation of public varsities or support government to destroy public universities. The choice is ours!

Education / Re: Rare Two-headed Snake Found In Woman’s House [PIC] by taurinee(m): 8:37am On Oct 14, 2020
Clipxhub:

A rare two-headed snake was rehomed after a North Carolina woman took it a science centre.
Jeannie Wilson, from Alexander County, North Carolina, was stunned when she found the reptile in her conservatory as she cleaned.

She told WSOC-TV that she thought the snake was injured before she saw it had two heads.
"I saw something in the corner of my eye, and I said, 'lord, that's a snake!, she told the station.
"The first thing I thought was, 'Oh gosh, something has stepped on you and mashed your head.'"

She named the snake "Double Trouble", which she described as being "very gentle to handle" and never tried to bite her.
Ms Wilson took the snake to the Catawba Science Centre in Hickory, some 30 miles from her home in Taylorsville.
Science centre staff said the snake appeared to be around four months old, and appeared to be a rat snake, Ms Wilson told WSOC-TV.

"I went to the science centre and told them what I had, they said 'we would love to have it', she said.
Ms Wilson told Fox10 news that she retrieved the snake from the science centre a few days afterwards, so that a snake wrangler could buy it for his son, saying "it just felt right".
According to the Catawba Science Center, one in 100,000 baby rat snakes will have two heads, making “Double Trouble” rare.

sinkhole:
Perhaps this is not true.

Is this mischief, ignorance of the order of administrative protocol or what? How can the office of the AGF (a govt dept) pass govt directive to its affiliate govt officers (Vice Chancellors) through a civil, non governmental body (Committee of Vice Chancellors) and not through the Universities' regulatory agency (the NUC)? The content of the directive is not only ridiculous but highly provocative.

For all lecturers in federal universities to travel to Abuja and physically present themselves to OAGF for the purpose of biometric capturing? What an insult and degradation of the dignity of labour! Meanwhile, the biometric capturing machine could be hand carried to each institution.

Asking us to come to Abuja, is a serious attempt to disgrace us, humiliate us, to completely demean us, and spat our faces on the floor, let alone the risks of accidents and kidnapping on the roads. It is even a serious disgrace of our Vice-Chancellors and Committee of Vice-Chancellors to allow this to happen.

Recommendations:
1. Beyond unionism, I think a group of Professors should be selected from the public Universities to meet and discuss with Mr President of the FRN and mediate on the prevailing issues.

2. ASUU should adequately brief the group of Professors on the details of the issues at stake for the discussion with Mr President.

3. Alternatively, the congresses of local branches need to meet urgently on strategies to source funds to sustain lecturers while the strike continues or to discontinue the strike if we feel the struggle is no longer worth it!
