Popular Abuja fashion designer and consultant and CEO of Alex Tailors, Alex Anthony Olusanya,, alongside other stakeholders in the Nigerian fashion industry have called on the Federal Government to rescue the Nigerian fashion industry from imminent crisis. Speaking to a cross section of journalists in Abuja, Alex Anthony Olusanya advised President Buhari to help the fashion industry by taking the same step taken in the Agricultural industry which encouraged Nigerians to start patronising home-grown rice. "The fashion industry is a multi-billion industry for any nation, and Nigeria inclusive. Many young educated fashion designers and even many of the uneducated ones by the roadside shops depend on this as a source of income. This in turn brings money back into the account of the government, this is why our government needs to be part of the fashion industry and boost it more to grow." "The major submission to his Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari is to order the temporary stoppage of all forms of Importation of fashion materials, imported clothes and so on that we can easily get here at affordable prices; basically Nigerians need to start patronising Nigerian designs. Look at what is happening in the agric sector; more Nigerians are now consuming made in Nigerian rice, the farmers are smiling to the bank and more money goes around the economy. We need that type of intervention in the fashion sector and it will be a win-win situation for all." Alex Anthony Olusanya, a Theatre Arts graduate of the University Of Ibadan also advised that the government should make it mandatory for every government establishment set a day of the week aside when all their employees put on strictly traditional attires and made in Nigerian dresses as a sign of patriotism. "Our law makers and other people in position of authority continue to wear traditional attires, and i must commend them for that. I see no reason why other government workers can't follow suit. You can wear traditional dresses that will still look trendy on you. Most of our designs at Alex Tailors are made in a way that you can wear them in the midst of people wearing suits and you won't look awkward" . http://www.newseveryhour.com/2019/12/govt-must-ban-imported-dresses-to-boost.html?m=1

According to the DJ, "2 Fighting" was released barely 4 weeks ago, but to his utter shock, Small Doctor released a new song titled "Believe" 5 days ago and it happened that the "Penalty" singer used an integral part of "2 Fighting" and garnished it with "hain, hain hain, hain". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KG01nBoJOtY http://www.yorubamoviegist.com/small-doctor-in-song-theft-mess-accused-of-stealing-from-a-dj/

What Nigerians have failed to realise is that these Americans and many foreigners are intimidated by Nigerians growing take-over in many areas. Snoop must have posted it and maybe felt he was adding to the promotion of a genre that is already flooding his industry. Why do you think DJ City was bashing Wizkid and Afrobeat the other day. Imagine what South Africa's rapper AKA also said after our victory against their football team. Nigerians, we need to stay woke. We are a chosen nation, just that our leaders keep being Judas. |
