FashionAlex Olusanya: FG Must Ban Imported Dresses To Boost The Fashion Industry by TB9ja(op): 9:03pm On Dec 19, 2019
Popular Abuja fashion designer and consultant and CEO of Alex Tailors, Alex Anthony Olusanya,, alongside other stakeholders in the Nigerian fashion industry have called on the Federal Government to rescue the Nigerian fashion industry from imminent crisis.

Speaking to a cross section of journalists in Abuja, Alex Anthony Olusanya advised President Buhari to help the fashion industry by taking the same step taken in the Agricultural industry which encouraged Nigerians to start patronising home-grown rice.

"The fashion industry is a multi-billion industry for any nation, and Nigeria inclusive. Many young educated fashion designers and even many of the uneducated ones by the roadside shops depend on this as a source of income. This in turn brings money back into the account of the government, this is why our government needs to be part of the fashion industry and boost it more to grow."

"The major submission to his Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari is to order the temporary stoppage of all forms of Importation of fashion materials, imported clothes and so on that we can easily get here at affordable prices; basically Nigerians need to start patronising Nigerian designs. Look at what is happening in the agric sector; more Nigerians are now consuming made in Nigerian rice, the farmers are smiling to the bank and more money goes around the economy. We need that type of intervention in the fashion sector and it will be a win-win situation for all."

Alex Anthony Olusanya, a Theatre Arts graduate of the University Of Ibadan also advised that the government should make it mandatory for every government establishment set a day of the week aside when all their employees put on strictly traditional attires and made in Nigerian dresses as a sign of patriotism.

"Our law makers and other people in position of authority continue to wear traditional attires, and i must commend them for that. I see no reason why other government workers can't follow suit. You can wear traditional dresses that will still look trendy on you. Most of our designs at Alex Tailors are made in a way that you can wear them in the midst of people wearing suits and you won't look awkward" .

See The Road Project This Corp Member Did To Save Lives In Oyo State (Photos)

It was John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States who said, “ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country”; this is the case of David Oluwatobiloba Adeyemi, a Microbiology graduate of the Ajayi Crowther University who is at the tail end of completing is compulsory one year National Youth Service in Oyo state.

Shortly after arriving the Oyo West LGA, Oyo State where he was posted to serve his fatherland, Adeyemi revealed that on different occasions, he had been fortunate to escape from being a victim of vehicle causing accidents at the junction at Awumoro Area of the LGA.

“This is simply because the road had no diversion, paintings on the road to indicate directions for motorists and all, so someone coming to that place for the first time would likely pass a oneway and collide with another vehicle or motorcycle coming from the other sharp end.

I took surveys and I got to find out that the issue came from the center of the road, there was previously an island there and it got spoilt over time.”

The “Oyo Koppa” immediately knew that he had an important mission at the Local government which was to assist the government in saving lives of people there.

Sometimes depriving himself of food and some vital personal stuffs,  the next 8 month would see Adeyemi saving up a part of his already meagre allowee coupled with fundraised from friends on the social media and Community members to carry out a Community Development Project involving the construction of a “Safe Zone Intersection Axis”.

The “Safe Zone Intersection Axis” is a construction that helps coordinate the flow of traffic, reduce the risk of accidents, promote the safety of the indigenes and also beautify the environment.

A passionate Oluwatobiloba speaks further on the project and the challenges encoutered;

“The Safe Zone Intersection Axis consists of signs and Safe Zones Markings where motorists and people can safely wait in turns while another motorist is coming thereby reducing the 5 conflict points in that road.

I am extremely happy about the success of this project which began just with a thought. I sacrificed a lot for it but I am glad it became a reality with a little savings from my allawee and kind donations from friends, well-wishers on social media and the community.”

However,  Adeyemi is not new to innovative ideas,  his pilot project the Ecogenic Solution Systems which promises to transform wastes into household multipurpose cleaner is still in the offing and was put on a hold just to achieve this newly completed project for the people of Oyo state.

A wannabe DJ that stole Marshellow's trademark look is accusing an artiste with a stolen identity (small DOCTOR) of stealing his song. I'm sure the content of the stolen song will be too much for two trash trucks. That bareque guy must be a rich guy because it seems to have no life problems that all he does is comment on every single post on nairaland

Weeks after veteran singer, Danny Young called out Tiwa Savage for stealing a part of his old song, another top artist, Small Doctor has also been caught pant down. He stole the chorus of his new song

Nigerian masked DJ, DJ Computer Love took to his instagram page to show how Small Doctor stole part of his recently released song titled, "2 Fighting".

According to the DJ, "2 Fighting" was released barely 4 weeks ago, but to his utter shock, Small Doctor released a new song titled "Believe" 5 days ago and it happened that the "Penalty" singer used an integral part of "2 Fighting" and garnished it with "hain, hain hain, hain".

What Nigerians have failed to realise is that these Americans and many foreigners are intimidated by Nigerians growing take-over in many areas. Snoop must have posted it and maybe felt he was adding to the promotion of a genre that is already flooding his industry. Why do you think DJ City was bashing Wizkid and Afrobeat the other day. Imagine what South Africa's rapper AKA also said after our victory against their football team. Nigerians, we need to stay woke. We are a chosen nation, just that our leaders keep being Judas.
