Delta Air Lines to Impose $200 Monthly Charge on Unvaccinated Employees, Adds Testing Requirements. Airline will add charge for unvaccinated employees enrolled in healthcare plan. Delta Air Lines will charge employees on the company health plan $200 US a month if they fail to get vaccinated against COVID-19, a policy the airline's top executive says is necessary because the average hospital stay for the virus costs the airline $40,000 USD. CEO Ed Bastian said that all employees who have been hospitalized for the virus in recent weeks were not fully vaccinated. https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/delta-air-lines-to-impose-200-monthly-surcharge-for-unvaccinated-employees-add-testing-requirements-11629902326 This is still better than getting laid off. 1 Like |

I am sure if I check the FP, there is going to be news about violence. It's almost a daily occurence. May God help the country. Even Arewa youths are feeling the heat. They no longer care much about defending the irresponsible government of Bubu, their kinsman. Never been this worse in Nigeria. 2 Likes

Everything looks calm': Family rescued from Afghanistan reflects on new life in Canada – CTV News TORONTO: One of the first families to land in Canada after escaping the Taliban in Afghanistan are speaking out about the life-and death ordeal they faced just weeks ago. Ehsan Saadat and his family were able to walk through a Toronto park after completing their mandatory COVID-19 quarantine period, telling CTV National News their first observations after landing in their new home country. “My first impression when I landed in Toronto, I just saw that everything looks calm, looks safe,” said Saadat. As a researcher whose previous work was presented to Canadian officials and aid groups, Saadat was eligible to apply and secure spots for himself, his wife and four children on a rescue flight and not a moment too soon. “I was scared,” he said of living in Afghanistan with the news of the Taliban taking city after city. “My wife was scared, I was scared.” And while Canada offered him and his family a lifeline to escape, the process of getting on a flight out of Kabul had extremely high stakes. Saadat received an email from Canadian authorities on Aug. 5, detailing how the family could access their rescue flight with one major condition. “It’s important that you and your family members do not share information beyond your immediate family until after you arrive in Canada,” Saadat said, reading the instructions warning him not to tell anyone about their leaving. Saadat kept the secret from his extended family, though it pained him. “I remember when my brother took us to the embassy, and he hugged my children – that time was difficult,” he said, getting noticeably emotional. The family were only able to bring some wedding photos and other small mementos from their life in Afghanistan, things that Saadat said were to show his children as they grow up so they won’t forget where they came from, and to answer their questions in the future “where are we from and what were our customs.” Now Saadat says his immediate goal is to try to find a job. He holds a Master’s degree in educational administration. “I don’t want to be a burden for the government,” he said, adding that his children have big dreams of their own. “The older one wants to be a judge, the second one could be a prosecutor and the third one wants to be a police officer,” he said. “My son wants to be a doctor.” 2 Likes 2 Shares

Some on this thread like to defend terrorists and extremists. Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes says he is quitting right wing group FBI labels 'extremist' Andrew Buncombe Seattle Thursday 22 November 2018 Gavin McInnes, the founder of the far right wing Proud Boys group, said he was quitting – a day it was revealed the FBI had listed it as an “extremist organisation with ties to white nationalism”. In a video posted to YouTube, Mr McInnes, also a founder member of Vice Media, said he was “officially disassociating” himself from the Proud Boys “in all capacities, forever”. He said he was doing to help the legal problems confronting several members charged after attacking demonstrators in New York, who were protesting a speech he was delivering. “I was told to use the term “stepping down” but I refused because that makes no sense. I was never the leader, only the founder. Although, the media will likely say, ‘Gavin McInnes Steps Down as Leader of Extremist Hate Group Proud Boys’ because that’s how they roll,” he said. The 48-year-old, described by the New York Times as a “Brooklyn hipster turned far-right provocateur”, established the Proud Boys in 2016, claiming it was “a fraternal organisation” interested in defending so-called western values. He has denied it is extremist or violent, even though he has a record of making racist, misogynistic and otherwise offensive remarks. He has used a racial slur to describe African American senator Cory Booker, said he admits he is Islamophobic, and has insulted foreign cultures from India to Australia. The group has also repeatedly been associated with violent attacks, including against anti-fascist protesters. Members of the group allegedly took part in last summer’s far right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where one protester was killed. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram have blocked the organisation. More recently, around half-a-dozen members of the group have been charged after clashing with anti-fascist protesters following a speech Mr McInnes delivered on October 12 at the Metropolitan Republican Club, on New York’s Upper East Side. The announcement by Mr McInnes, who could not be contacted on Thursday, came just days after it was reported that FBI considered the group “extremist organisation with ties to white nationalism”. “The FBI has warned local law enforcement agencies that the Proud Boys are actively recruiting in the Pacific Northwest and that some Proud Boy members have contributed to the recent escalation of violence at political rallies held on college campuses, and in cities like Charlottesville, Virginia; Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington,” the document added. The Southern Poverty Law Centre (SPLC), an Alabama-based watchdog group, has described the the organisation as both “extremist” and a “hate group”. “Their disavowals of bigotry are belied by their actions: rank-and-file Proud Boys and leaders regularly spout white nationalist memes and maintain affiliations with known extremists,” the SPLC says of the group. “They are known for anti-Muslim and misogynistic rhetoric. Proud Boys have appeared alongside other hate groups at extremist gatherings like the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville.” 4 Likes 2 Shares

wirinet:Some mentions in the video. Same thing a couple of posters have said on here asper the Afghan troops not putting up a fight. Basically, the Afghans are the Taliban, and the Taliban are the Afghans. They are Afghan military force soldiers in the day, but Taliban at night. How do you win a war when you don't even know who's the real enemy? America and NATO got swindled by the Afghans. 1 Like

During a "Save America" rally in Cullman, Alabama, former President Donald Trump heaped praise on controversial Georgia lawmaker Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. In a video shared by Vox reporter Aaron Rupar, the former president can also be heard describing the so-called QAnon Congresswoman as "so smart," "brilliant," and an "incredible" woman. "She's a brilliant woman, she's doesn't get credit for it," he said. "But we all know about that stuff." Trump also referred to Greene, a supporter of the former president's efforts to overturn his loss to President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, as a "warrior." "Everything I said about Georgia is true," he continued. Trump repeatedly claimed victory in Georgia following the 2020 presidential election, a false statement that belies President Joe Biden's nearly 13,000-vote win there. He also tried to pressure Georgia officials to overturn the results, Insider previously reported. Greene, a fiercely loyal ally to the former president, also promoted baseless conspiracy of voter fraud in her home state and called for the results of the presidential election in Georgia to be decertified. The House of Representatives voted to remove Greene from all committee roles in February 2021 in response to violent and incendiary remarks made about prominent Democrats. She has promoted numerous far-right conspiracy theories and controversial viewpoints, including QAnon, Pizzagate, and comparing COVID-19 safety protocols to the persecution of Jews under the Nazis. 2 Likes 1 Share
