This is my feedback having spent 7 months, Melbourne, RMIT, Job opportunities.
Melbourne is a good place to be, multicultural et all but then Job opportunities for student and their spouse varies from housekeeping, factory hand and cleaning generally. Last time i checked age care and childcare institutions are not enrolling peeps on student visa.

RMIT, for the new students welcome. I've seen a lot of questions as regards payment of fees, please note that you are expected to pay up your fees after 1 month of resumption thus come prepared ooh,
Also instalment payment is allowed in your 2nd year, you can only access instalment payment in your 2nd yr.


Welldone to all the ogas on this forum that didn't give up. God bless you all, those expecting their grants soon it will land.

I've only spent a month in Melbourne, but here is what i have to say.

Melbourne is great.....thats why it has always been voted the most liveable city in the world for a while now.
The diversity, the road network(Train, Bus, Tram), people, foods, jobs.
I would count myself as one of the lucky ones, i got a job in my 1st 2weeks, a car wash job actually. Most people don't have that luck. Its good to mingle and ask questions so one dont miss way. After my back nearly scattered i stopped, cos it wasn't easy at all but had to do it,had to stand for up to 8hrs with little pay. Then left for a housekeeping job which had been ok so far.
Lots of jobs opportunities in Melbourne, but most of them involves standing, long hours standing. But if you can work hard, you wont have much problems. Part from sch, get extra moni for a course in Individaul Support (Aged Care, Disability). They'll take about 5months to get you prepared. Its the best paying job for stdnts.
Classes are nice, people are ready to help.
Learn to drive, cars are essential here. 80% of jobs come with cars, no cars no jobs. Get 9ja licence.
The weather here is sumtin else....today its very cold, tomorrow its very hot, prepare for anything.
Overall Melbourne is a nice place to be. Sydney I've heard to be a nice place too, but standard of living is quite expensive to that of Melbourne.

Always praying for those preparing to come down here and those expecting grants.

And God would surely bless the ladies and gentlemen trying their best in this forum answering questions and always trying to help out.

Yeah yu ryt....a rily nice way to end the year.

It was a lady that called. I was asked who my sponsor was, the kind of job he is into, which I told them.

They also asked who funded me when I was skuling here in 9ja, told her it was my parents who sponsored me. Then she asked how come my parents aren't the ones sponsoring my tuition abroad. Told her they don't have the funds dats why my broda is stepping in. She also asked if I still have any siblings in skul here in 9ja, told her I have 2, which my parents take care of, while my broda is to take care of mine. Then she asked the kinda jobs my parents are into, told her. (Pman na Mechanic, Malle Dey sell Drinks).

For some it might be diff questions....like why are you coming to study in Australia and what you intend to do after studying and stuffs like that.

Praise be to Allah whom all people praise in different languages. He is the Most Bounteous and the Most Beneficent. I praise and thank Him in order to receive His pleasing Gifts. Allah please also bless Nairaland and all its members. Ameen.

I got a call from SA at about 11:17 which I'd call an interview and behold 30mins later I got my grant.

Want to tank evry1 here for support, wishing those expecting good luck and praying for those expecting to get theirs in due time.

Timeline:

Applied to Australian Centre of Further Education on 2nd Of Aug got admitted 9th of Aug

Applied for a 2yrs course: Diploma in Leadership and Management.

Paid tuition fee in Oct got CEO same Month.

Applied for Visa and went for Biometrics on 28th of Oct.

Did medical 1st of Nov.

Grant came today 22nd Dec.

After many sleepless nights.

Thank God all the same.

What a way to start the Xmas N New Year celebration.

PTE was great, quite easier dan IELTS and TOEFL I bliv. Result comes faster too.

I learnt it is way faster if you finish your medicals before your application than when you're requested by the embassy. It's even stated on their website.

Don't know about that. Perhaps that's where the delay is from. Will have to wait anyways.

When does your uni commence? Australian government has quota on how much people can come into the country in a certain time. If that quota is full means you have to exercise patience until the window opens again. Writing them to make a decision on your application could lead to a denial.

It could also be that your case officer is yet to review your application, thats is why it's vital to submit all neccessary documents to avoid been delayed.

All Docs have been submitted. I am to resume 12th Of dis Month....but might have to move my resumption date forward if they don't grant me anytime soon.

Hello House, I need help with sumtin. I applied for a Student Visa (Subclass 500) on Oct 28. I have done my biometrics at Ikeja, i've also done Medical at Fatia Williams and that was at Nov 2nd. Since then I avnt heard anytin from them. My Visa isn't out yet. I jst wana knw. How long does it take to get out.....does it take this long...?? I read on their page that it takes a Month. Its been over a Month already. Notin yet. Can sum1 explain pls...Thank you.
