And maybe, it is also for those reasons including compassion that Officer Unique is being relatively 'patient' in dealing with her. I figure in detective work they study some psychology and mental stuff (psychiatry).

If truly Nathan had mistreated Pamela, she is not supposed to be surprised by her mum and the stranger's 'activity'.
Shocked maybe at her mother, for making out with a stranger. But my guess is that she would have been aware of her mum and Niyi's closeness.
