NFF to host FIFA Executive Football Summit meeting expected to hold between November 2017 and March 2018. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that one of the 12 FIFA Executive Football Summit (EFS) meetings will hold in Lagos, Nigeria. NFF will host the governing body on the 20th of February, 2018 with Eko Hotel and Suites, as the event venue. The venue will also accommodate welcomed guest to the event. Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla will not return to the first-team football game after suffering a setback in the surgery to his injured ankle. Cazorla sustained an Achilles injury since October 2016 and has not featured for the Gunners since they defeated Ludogorets 6-0 in a Champions League win. The 32-year old has undergone eight surgeries since the issues with his ankle began in 2013. He has lost eight centimetres of his Achilles tendon, and fears he may lose his foot after suffering an infection earlier this month. CAF to introduce Video Assistant Referee [VAR] for the first time in the 2018 African Nations Championship The technology assists the referees in decision making on the field of play minimizing potential decision errors during CAF competitions. In a meeting on Monday, 27 November 2017 in Cairo, the CAF Referees’ Committee endorsed the use of VAR. The African football body confirms the use of the Video Assistant Referee when the competition kicks off in Morocco 2018. The CHAN competition which holds once in two years kicks off January 13 and ends February 4, 2018, across four Moroccan cities of Agadir, Marrakech, Casablanca, and Tangiers. Invitation to the next year’s World Cup has been made, and officials with previous VAR training already shortlisted. “Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be used for the first time in an African competition at the Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) Morocco 2018,” the statement reads on CAF website. The English Premier League club, Manchester United, have sent condolence message to Nigerian football fans that died in Calabar while watching the club’s Europa League clash on Thursday night.
