The case of sexual harassment against an OAU lecturer Professor Richard Akindele and his victim is yet to be buried as there are claims her examination score wasn’t what the lecturer told her.

Monica Osagie the victim at the centre of the sexual harassment case against Prof. Richard Akindele has appeared before the committee set up by the university to investigate the scandal.

The post-graduate student of the Department of Management and Accounting, Obafemi Awolowo University, accused the lecturer of demanding 5 rounds of sex for him to upgrade her marks.

As reported by PunchNG the investigative committee members met with the victim Osagie and another lecturer, who the victim claimed she reported the matter to for his intervention, at the Pro-Chancellor’s Lodge on the campus on Tuesday.

The school which was not in session enjoyed serenity as students weren’t around except for some OAU security personnel securing the gate and preventing people from going inside the lodge.

Apart from the security personnel, some journalists and members of the Women Advocate Research and Documentation Centre, as well as Mrs Nkechi Nwagbaoso who is a lawyer were at the lodge but weren’t allowed to witness the hearing.

The hearing which lasted for over 4 hours saw Osagie walk out of the venue to a waiting car accompanied by 2 lawyers.

Akiyode-Afolabi who protested against the closed-door policy of the investigative committee made it known that Osagie scored 45 in the course taught and marked by Prof. Akindele contrary to the claim by the lecturer saying she scored 33.

“The meeting was a fact-finding one and they told us that they had not got to the level of legal representation: Because of that, we were there as observers.”

The other lecturer also brought a lawyer, but the committee refused to allow him (lawyer) inside. So, lawyers were not allowed to appear as legal representation, but we were allowed to observe the proceedings.”

“The committee members asked her ( Osagie) to narrate her ordeal with the professor which she did. She explained what happened and she didn’t deny the recording (leaked telephone conversation).”

“She affirmed that the recording took place and she justified why she resorted to self-help because there was no effective support coming from the university.”

The incident happened towards the end of last year (2017). It was not two years ago. She has completed her programme. She passed the course that we are talking about. She didn’t fail.”

“The school reaffirmed that she passed and that she scored 45 and not 33, and the man (prof.) did not give her mark. Apparently, the man was using the 33 as a bait to get her.”

“She talked about her understanding of what happened. She talked about the fact that she is a good student and that she passed all her courses. That she shouldn’t have failed the course and that she checked and found out that she passed and that the 33 the man talked about must have been his (lecturer) imagination.”

“It must also have been a way of negotiating with her to get her to bow to his wish, which was the reason she recorded the conversation.”

When she was asked if Osagie eventually had sex with the lecturer, she said,

“I can categorically say that there was no sexual relationship between her and the man.”

“I am not satisfied with the closed-door policy. I didn’t know the reason why the officials of the National Human Rights Commission were not allowed in to be part of the proceeding. We felt they should allow them but they said they were not allowed in because the other man came with a lawyer and that the lawyer was just an observer.”

Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi state gave an order to immediately arrest the yet to be identified police officer who shot and killed a commercial motorcyclist over N50 bribe refusal.

A yet to be identified police officer yesterday night shot and killed a commercial motorcyclist who allegedly refused to give him the N50bribe he asked for.

The incident which happened along waterworks road saw a man driving what locals refer to as Okada at Anan world junction as he was challenged by the policemen of the anti-kidnapping squad of Ebonyi State Police Command.

The victim of the ugly incident is believed to be in his early 20s and was conveying a female passenger when he was stopped by the police officers in their usual act of fleecing motorists of their money at night at the junction.

The eyewitness recounted the incident saying, “When they stopped him, they demanded their usual N50 but he gave them N20 and wanted to drive off when one of them opened fire on him. The bullet shattered his head and he died instantly,”

The incident immediately escalated into a troubling scene as residents not far from the scene gathered and attempted to lynch the officers, using tires to set burn fires on the road, but the policemen were saved by the arrival of a new detachment of police officers who used tear gas to scatter the angry mob and also shooting sporadically into the air.

As the news got to the governor of the state, he ordered the immediate arrest of the policemen who were involved in the death of the deceased.

Governor David Nweze Umahi who spoke through Emmanuel Uzor, his Chief Press Secretary, described the incident as “barbaric and callous”.

He also assured that justice will be done in the killing of the deceased promising to work with the police to nail the culprit and have them prosecuted.

As at the time of the report, it is unclear if the lady was also hit by the bullet of the policemen.

The Twitter user with the handle Ayo @Pabloayodeji tweeted around 10 am this morning saying “This is my final tweet. After 22 years on earth, I’ve decided to call it quit. I can’t keep living this way, I’ve been strong for so long and I’ve reached my breaking point. I realize now that dying is easy and living is hard. And I’ve chosen the easy way out. Goodbye”

As serious as this tweet might sound, Nigerians have trolled him calling him a scam and fraudster as they reveal he has done such an act before to swindle people of their money.

Pablo Ayodeji whose real name is Adeniji Olaoluwa Ayodeji is regarded as a Nigerian internet fraudster who was called out for a similar action of his that made the news in December 2017.

The handle @KneWKeeD belonging to Eric Okafor made it known on his Twitter handle that “MultiChoice has filed an official complaint to Twitter” for him to shut down the live streaming.

He tweeted, “Dear #BBnaija livestream fam, our friends from MultiChoice have filed an official complaint to Twitter and the Livestream can no longer come on �… #BBNajia #BBNAIJA2018 #BBNaijaUpdates”

He later tweeted about the threat to suspend his Twitter account saying, “Multichoice is trying to get my twitter account suspended. This is not what I want to be dealing with rn��‍♂️”

Nudity is gaining quite some popularity among celebrities as Nigerian upcoming actress follows the trend to share unclad pictures of herself used for a magazine cover.

Nigerian actress Marvelous Dominion is the cover image of the latest edition of the Mediaroom Hub magazine flaunting her flawless body in a nude photoshoot.

The actress who studied Contemporary Performance Art in Oxford spoke about her view on acting nude in a cover story done by Azuka Ogujiuba & Abigail Ocheibi for Mediaroom Hub magazine.

Speaking in an interview with the Mediaroom Hub magazine she explained how she got into acting at an early age, she said: “Since I was 16 or while growing up as a child, I have always had this flair for acting and modelling, but mostly for acting.”

“So when I was 17, I had to go to England to study it professionally in school. Then from studying acting on camera in London, then I had to go to Oxford to study contemporary performance art. Then from there, I had to come back to Nigeria to pursue my acting career in Nigeria, so far it’s been good.”

She also talked about how she perceived acting nude in a Nigerian stage play, ‘3some’

“When I got the script, I had to go through the story, of course, Jude told me about the character I was supposed to portray in the play. First of all, I didn’t study theatre art in school, I am not a professional stage actor, I’m a trained camera actress.”

“Initially, I told Jude I am not sure I can do this but let’s see how we can work on this and make it come to fruition. It was encouraging because he said he was going to train me and see how far we could go on the field. He encouraged me and we had some rehearsals, 3 weeks rehearsals I think and then I went through the script, I loved the storyline and thought about it.”

“I didn’t really think about it because I am a Nigerian, of course, we have our own cultural beliefs in this country, the only thing I thought of was just what makes me happy.”

“This is what I want to do, and in the film school I went to, we were been taught that you might be asked to come out to work as a nude actress. So it only takes a daring actor to imbibe the character. I went through the story and I realized it was an interesting and a very daring story. If it wasn’t daring of such, I wouldn’t have gone for it.” She said.
