A seven-year-old boy who reviews toys has been revealed as YouTube’s highest-earning star, raking in $22m (£17.3m).
The estimate by Forbes magazine found that Ryan of Ryan ToysReview pipped Jake Paul by $500,000 for the 12 months to June.
Videos are posted most days and one promoting a blue giant mystery egg bearing Ryan’s face has had more than a million views since Sunday.
The Dude Perfect channel was in third place, making $20m, Forbes said.
Ryan’s earnings, which do not include tax or fees charged by agents or lawyers, have doubled compared with the previous year.
Asked by NBC why kids liked watching his videos, Ryan – who is now eight – replied: “Because I’m entertaining and I’m funny.”
Since the channel was set up by Ryan’s parents in March 2015, its videos have had almost 26 billion views and amassed 17.3 million followers.Forbes said all but $1m of the $22m total is generated by advertising shown before videos, with the remainder coming from sponsored posts.
The amount generated by sponsored posts is small compared with other top YouTubers, Forbes writes. It is “the result not only of how few deals Ryan (or his family) chooses to accept, but also the fact that his pint-sized demographic isn’t exactly all that flush”.
The toys featured in one of the channel’s videos can sell out instantly.
In August, Walmart began selling an exclusive range of toys and clothing called Ryan’s World, and a video showing Ryan and his parents searching for his own toys at a Walmart store has had 14 million views in three months.
The revenues from the Walmart deal are set to substantially increase Ryan’s total earnings next year.As he is still a child, 15% of Ryan’s earnings are put into a bank account that he can only access when he becomes a legal adult.
Ryan’s twin sisters haven’t been left out of the fun either: they feature in some videos on a related YouTube channel called Ryan’s Family Review.A video titled “Top 10 Science Experiments you can do at home for kids” starring the three children has had more than 26 million views:

Snapchat is being used to sell explicit images and videos online, the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme has found. Jodie Carnall says she makes £4,000 a month on the app, but it’s not without a cost to her personal life, and she has been subject to online abuse

A 26 year old girl Victoria Derbyshire popularly know as premium girl explains how and how much she makes from Snapchat for selling s*x videos online.

For a monthly fee – of between £20 and £200 – she sends her subscribers sexually explicit photos and videos via the regular Snapchat app.

Such material is banned and removed when found, Snapchat says, but Jodie has been doing it since 2016.

She advertises her service on other social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and says she is careful to check the accounts belong to real people before accepting.

But it has also led to her receiving many hurtful comments – sent online from those who object to what she does for a living.

A Chinese researcher claims that he helped make the world’s first genetically edited babies — twin girls born this month whose DNA he said he altered with a powerful new tool capable of rewriting the very blueprint of life. If true, it would be a profound leap of science and ethics.



A US scientist said he took part in the work in China, but this kind of gene editing is banned in the United States because the DNA changes can pass to future generations and it risks harming other genes. Many mainstream scientists think it’s too unsafe to try, and some denounced the Chinese report as human experimentation.



The researcher, He Jiankui of Shenzhen, said he altered embryos for seven couples during fertility treatments, with one pregnancy resulting thus far. He said his goal was not to cure or prevent an inherited disease, but to try to bestow a trait that few people naturally have — an ability to resist possible future infection with HIV, the AIDS virus. He said the parents involved declined to be identified or interviewed, and he would not say where they live or where the work was done.

Jonathan accuses Obama of setting him up to fail in rescue of Chibok Girls

The former president believes Obama tactically set his administration up for failure in the pursuit of the girls' freedom.
Former president, Goodluck Jonathan, has accused former United States president, Barack Obama, of frustrating his administration's efforts to rescue schoolgirls kidnapped by terrorist group, Boko Haram, in Chibok, Borno State over four years ago.
While Jonathan was president, terrorists invaded the premises of Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok, Borno State, and kidnapped 276 female students from the school hostel.

Jonathan's initial lukewarm reaction to the abduction was widely-criticised and this worsened after the situation gained global attention that led to foreign governments, including the U.S., offering to help in the rescue of the girls.

In his new book, titled 'My Transition Hours', the former president said even though Obama's administration lent its security services towards rescuing the girls, he also tactically set his administration up for failure in the pursuit of the girls' freedom.

He said Obama's administration refused to sell military hardware to Nigeria's Armed Forces and frustrated efforts of his administration to get the weapons from Israel.

He said, "As an aside, while thanking the men and women of the US security services who were deployed to Nigeria and toiled day and night in the Northeast in search of the Chibok Girls, my surprise at the role played by the then U.S. President Barack Obama, still calls to doubt his genuine intentions for Nigeria.

"For some strange reasons, the Obama administration had tactically pencilled Nigeria and my administration for failure. Amongst many manoeuvres, was the refusal to provide any real military backing to Nigeria's Armed Forces.

"President Obama and his security adviser, Susan Rice, bluntly refused to sell any military hardware including jet fighters and attack helicopters to Nigeria.

"Obama cited the Leahy Law as the reason his regime prevented the American Government from supporting Nigeria in providing weapons to fight Boko Haram.

"Even when the State of Israel expressed the willingness to sell attack helicopters to Nigeria, the gesture was frustrated by the Obama administration that kept waving the same Leahy Law like a banner.

"My administration, including a team of international partners with their respective governments, devoted considerable amount of resources in the search and rescue of the girls."

Over four years after the high profile abduction, 112 of the girls remain in captivity as many of them escaped from the terrorists or were released to the government after negotiations.

Jonathan says Obama humiliated him during 2015 elections
In another chapter of the book, Jonathan also disclosed that he felt humiliated by Obama's interference in Nigeria's 2015 elections which he lost to current president, Muhammadu Buhari.

The 61-year-old said Obama's decision to send then-US Secretary of State, John Kerry, to press on the government after the elections were postponed by a few weeks was meddlesome.

Jonathan further noted that Obama's 'unusual' video message where he spoke directly to the Nigerian people about the elections was a subtle attempt to influence the votes in favour of the opposition at the time to oust him from office.

He wrote, "On March 23, 2015, President Obama himself took the unusual step of releasing a video message directly to Nigerians all but telling them how to vote.

"In that video, Obama urged Nigerians to open the 'next chapter' by their votes. Those who understood subliminal language deciphered that he was prodding the electorate to vote for the opposition to form a new government.

"The message was so condescending, it was as if Nigerians did not know what to do and needed an Obama to direct them.

"In his message, he said, 'All Nigerians must be able to cast their votes without intimidation or fear,' yet his government was vehemently and publicly against the postponement of the elections to enable our military defeat Boko Haram and prevent them from intimidating voters. This was the height of hypocrisy!"

Jonathan said Obama's actions as well as that of other foreign powers like the United Kingdom's then-Prime Minister, David Cameron, were fueled by "deeper political interests".

He ended up losing the election to Buhari by more than 2.5 million votes, the first time an incumbent lost a presidential election to an opposition candidate in Nigeria.

He conceded defeat to Buhari in a phone call before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially announced the former military Head of State the winner of the election.

Facebook Rolls Out New Feature That Counts How Much Time You Spend On The App

Facebook has finally released a feature we had been hoping for, a feature that allow users to calculate how much time you have used on the facebook app. A report from techcrunch reveals that this new feature had been released.


With the new feature, you can set a daily limit and receive a reminder to stop after that many minutes each day, plus access shortcuts to notification, News Feed and Friend Request settings. Those last two shortcuts are new, but otherwise the feature works the same as when it was previewed. You can access it by going to Facebook’s More tab -> Settings & Privacy -> Your Time on Facebook.

A South Korean pastor has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping eight female followers of his mega-church.

Lee Jae-rock, 75, has about 130,000 followers at the Mamin Central Church in Seoul. He denied all the charges.

His victims had spoken of his "divine power" and said they felt compelled to do what he asked because "he was God".

Most South Korean Christians belong to mainstream churches which can accumulate huge wealth and influence.

But there are a small amount of fringe groups that engage in behaviour more associated with cults including coercion, brainwashing and fraud.

Lee's church is regarded as a splinter cult by some mainstream Christian organisations.

'I lost my entire family to a cult'
Lee set up the Mamin Central Church in 1982 with only 12 followers. It has now grown to what is known as a mega-church, with its huge headquarters and auditorium and a website with promises of miracles.

Earlier this year, three of his followers came forward to say he had called them to his apartment and forced them to have sex.

"I was unable to turn him down," one of them told South Korean media at the time.

"He was more than a king. He was God," added the woman, who said she had been a member of the church since she was a child.

In total, eight women filed criminal complaints and he was arrested in May.

The court found Lee molested and raped the victims "tens of times" over a long period.

"Through his sermons the accused has indirectly or directly suggested he is the holy spirit, deifying himself," judge Chung Moon-sung told the Seoul Central District Court.

The victims believed him to be "a divine being who wields divine power", he said.

Lee stood with his eyes closed as the judgement was read out.

His defence had alleged the women were lying for revenge after they were excommunicated for breaking the rules of the church.
