Fuji star Adewale Ayuba granted an interview to GoldmyneTV on his 50th birthday.
The happily married father of three narrated how he met his Onitsha-born wife, Azukaego Kwentoh and why he will spend the rest of his life with her.
See interview excerpts below:
What’s the secret of your youthful look at 50?
After my God, it’s my wife. People keep asking but I don’t do anything extraordinary. Why I said my wife is because she gives me peace at home. When I think of my home, I am always happy.
You have being married for 26 years, can you tell us what attracted you to an Igbo woman many years ago?
Well, we got married in 1989. My wife is 100 percent Igbo. I never knew she was Nigerian let alone being Igbo. I was at the cafeteria after my registration in New York, chatting with some of my friends, then I sighted a lady coming and I tapped my friends that I just found a wife. My friends started laughing at me. For no reason, she came to where I was, to talk to some of my friends. She said they were forming an association of Nigerian students in diaspora in your school and she wanted to know if we were Nigerians.
What was the attraction?
I can’t even say I knew it. It was a mere statement as at that time which later came to pass. I just knew I saw her and something struck a chord in me.
Did she know you were a musician as at that time?
No, she didn’t. My wife had never been to Nigerian before. She stayed all her live abroad until later that she had to obtain her visa here.
Why will you never marry two wives?
If you cannot allow your wife to have two husbands, why do you have to marry two wives? It was not even stipulated that a man must marry two wives in the holy Quran because it has a condition statement ‘’if’’.
Many Fuji artiste marry more than one wife, why are you so different?
I don’t now, but I think when God gives you your own bone, why marry a second wife? Blessings follow marriage. It is not about music but about the person.
Aulor: When I read interview transcripts and people say they weren't asked for their documents, I always find it very hard to believe, until it happened to me this morning. 6:30am appointment, Lagos Visa Office, Window 6 VO: Good Morning Me: Good Morning Sir VO: Why are u going to d US Me: To obtain a master's degree in Public Health VO: How did u know about d sch? Me: Did some extensive research online via usnews.com and Google.com, and narrowed my search to my sch VO: Why this sch? Me: This was where I hijacked the interview, gave him a brief lecture on the public health concentration/specialization areas my school offers and how it aligned with my career aspirations, integrated it with implementation of that specific knowledge and skill in the Nigerian healthcare system. and convinced him why my school offers the ideal academic structure. VO then cuts in while I was talking, and said those magic words....visa approved.
No documents where asked for, not even bank statements and tests results, and to think my folder couldn't contain my documents, had to put them in a bag.
The key learning here is, prepare yourself, be confident, answer intelligently, that way you don't give the VO an opportunity to find a fault. Above all, and most importantly...say a word of prayer, you have no idea how much it will do.
AlexReports: In Aniocha North, Onicha Olona, Ward4, accreditation started at about 9.30am to 2.50pm. The processe witnessed very low voter turn out. The report below is the number of accredited voters for all the polling units after they stopped accreditation;
Voting then commenced at exactly 3pm, & ended at about 4.30pm in all the eight polling Units. At this time, the voters dispersed almost in a uniformed pattern, after which one Hon. Engr. Victor Ochei, a seating member of the Delta State House of Assembly, who contested for the Delta North Senatorial seat on the platform of Accord Party on March 28th 2015, drove in with armed policemen, had a meeting with all the INEC adhoc staff in each of the polling units, & all Party agents available, & gave them money, & instructed them to thumb print the remaining empty ballot papers in favor of Accord Party's State Assembly candidate. Under the supervision of this, Hon. Victor Ochei, the Adhoc staff with the party agents started the act of illegally thumb printing the ballot papers & stuffing the ballot boxes. At this point, I was able to record some of these acts that I can capture, & left as soon as I felt I was at risk by further staying there. Find attached pictures, and videos of this events.
As at 2.30pm today 13th of April 2015, the Returning Officer for this LGA, Mrs. Chiejile Faith whose phone number is 07060567492, who is alleged to have collected money from Hon. Engr. Victor Ochei to accept, & announce the results of the wards where this fraud took place has disappeared & cannot be found or reached by people of this Local Government. Reports has it that the INEC Situation room at Abuja has seen this video & has since asked for the cancellation the elections in that LGA.

Bimbo Akintola: I’m Not Engaged, My Sister Was The One Caught Fighting At Palms Mall Over 300 Naira Change
Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has admitted that she witnessed what happened to her sister about 3 weeks ago at the Palms shopping mall in Lekki. In response to the viral story about her alleged fight with an attendant over 300 Naira change, the actress said: “This thing happened about three weeks ago and nobody said anything about it. The lady attacked my sister and that is what happened. It did not happen to me but to my sister. She kept our change for over two hours and my sister demanded for the change. Although my sister later gave somebody the change anyway, it did not happen to me and my sister is not an actress.” Bimbo Akintola also debunked her viral engagement story. In her words: “There is nothing like marriage on the cards for me anytime soon. People who claimed they saw me wearing an engagement ring at an event are just spreading rumours about me. Stop listening to rumours please. Ignore them”
Lets admit it- Chris Oyakhilome has been doing things differently since his comeback after the unfortunate divorce saga. First of all , he appeared in church to render his message to the congregation in an outfit that was different from his signature suit which has even gone on to be a trend in the church. Now, he’s donned once again a casual gear and is participating in a fitness programme. This, may we add, is making him look a lot years younger. We would just like to know, is the pastor going through some form of PTSD that is making him engage in these activities. Photos of him working out with some pastors and youth in South Africa emerged online on Easter Monday
Rapper, Big Sean has denied threatening teen star, Justin Bieber for laying hands on his girlfriend, Ariana Grande. According to TMZ, a rep for Big Sean says the tweet going around in which Sean threatened Bieber for laying hands on Ariana Grande during a concert is a fake. We're told Justin and Sean are good friends and that he and Ariana are just fine. The report further stated that another tweet of Sean's -- "so many times in my life I wish I could of been at 2 places at once" -- also sounded like it was about Bieber but we're told it had nothing to do with JB, and Sean just misses friends and family while on the road
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is investigating an alleged money laundering case involving a lady Nosisi Pam Ngqula, 39, from South Africa. She was intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos with three hundred and seventy-three thousand, seven hundred and twenty-five ($373,725) US dollars and two thousand, one hundred and twenty (€2,120) Euros concealed inside packs of oats. The money was detected during an inward screening of passengers on a South African airline flight from Johannesburg. NDLEA commander at the Lagos Airport, Mr. Hamza Umar said that it is a suspected case of money laundering. He stated: “A South African lady by name Nosisi Pam Ngqula is being interrogated in connection with a suspected case of money laundering. The mode of concealment presents reasonable grounds for money laundering. Five packs of oats were found to contain $373,725 and €2,120. Two Nigerians, Damian Akamelus and Prophet Cyprian Chigere are also being interrogated in connection with the seized money” NDLEA Director of Assets and Financial Investigation, Mrs. Victoria Egbase said that refusal to declare the money and the manner of concealment were criminal and that the case is being investigated to establish possible link with drug trafficking. The main suspect, who works in a cosmetic shop said that the bag containing the money was given to her by a Nigerian in South Africa. In her statement, “I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I was given a bag by a Nigerian to deliver to one Damian Akamelu. During examination of my bags at the Lagos airport, the money was found inside packs of oats”. NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Ahmadu Giade who commended the officers for detecting the money ordered that the case be investigated to determine the source of the money. According to Giade, “one of the mandates of the Agency is to identify, trace, freeze, confiscate or seize proceeds derived from drug-related offences or property whose value corresponds to such proceeds. I have therefore directed that the case be investigated to ascertain the source of the money”. The investigation report is expected to be presented to the Chairman for necessary action. Meanwhile, officials of the South Africa Embassy are said to be in touch with the suspect
ease06: So this afternoon I came across a post saying a UK based Pastor was criticising a church in Lagos for inviting Korede Bello to render his hit song;GODWIN.
I am forced to wonder if the song or the singer determines the genre of a song.
What makes a song gospel or secular? Is it the song (the message) or the singer?
