PoliticsRe: What Is The Update On Port Harcourt Refinery by Teejay2033(m): 9:22pm On Nov 03, 2024
Blaze14k:
On April 7, 2021 nnpcl signed a contract with tecnimont spa to rehabilitate port harcourt refinery worth $1.5 billion. The refinery which is undergoing an upgrade will begin by processing 60,000 barrels per day bpd, and nnpc expects to operate at the full capacity of 210000 bpd later this year. The current managing director of nnpc Mele Kyari also told the Senate that over 450, 000 barrels of oil had been stocked into the Port Harcourt refinery. It's been 3 weeks now since he announced that the refinery will start production in 2 weeks time. This is a critical part of the economy which should be dealt with matter of urgency.

Why is nnpc delaying the production of refine crude in port harcourt refinery? We need to ask the right questions instead of defending this government all the time.
Any update regarding the Port Harcourt Refinery?

To revive the Port Harcourt Refinery and its counterparts in Warri and Kaduna, urgent action is necessary. We must hold the government accountable for timely refurbishment and demand transparency and regular updates on progress. Organized protests with clear objectives can also help drive home our demands. If necessary, occupying key institutions like the NNPC towers and National Assembly may be required to emphasize our needs. It's time for collective action to achieve a functional refinery system.

To revive the Port Harcourt Refinery and its counterparts in Warri and Kaduna, we must take proactive measures. Rather than remaining complacent, we should:

1. Hold the government accountable for timely refurbishment
2. Demand transparency and frequent updates on progress
3. Organize targeted protests with clear objectives

Occupying key institutions, such as the NNPC towers and National Assembly, may be necessary to drive home our demands. We deserve a functional refinery system, and it's time to take collective action.
PoliticsRe: Do You Believe Port Harcourt Refinery Will Work? by Teejay2033(m): 9:15pm On Nov 03, 2024
Funkyswagzz:
After seeing the saga between dangote refinery and nnpc I just want to say port harcourt refinery will not work. Every section of this country is fantastically corrupt so who will hold nnpc accountable for there misconduct?

There's a section of this country who are adamant on speaking up when it matters but some people will find a way to stigmatise them but everything they said is gradually unfolding so who is now to blame?

Those of you who believe you can fight for a better country you need to wake a section that has given up on that course so they can see a reason to join you. As it stands now the kinda tribal war and disunity going on is unprecedented. And if you don't realise the criminal government in power you are just waisting time.

I watched a Yoruba guy who said if this protest does not involve some serious exchange between civilians and security agents you should count him out. You have to destroy those criminal gang in power in order to rebuild this country.

As for those of you living outside Nigeria enjoying how the country is sinking causing all sorts of confusion everyday be rest assured there will come a time you will realise how uninformed you've always been.
The Port Harcourt Refinery will become functional again, but not if we sit idly by. We must pressure the government to ensure that this refinery, along with those in Warri and Kaduna, operate efficiently. Currently, we're not doing enough, as we're too passive. Our demands and protests must be specific, focusing on:

1. Transparency in the refurbishment process
2. Regular progress updates

We deserve better. If necessary, we should occupy the NNPC towers and the National Assembly to emphasize our demands. It's time for decisive action.

Whenever you notice Nigerian civil servants intensely dislike their boss, it's likely because that person is doing something right. Perhaps Uju was too strict, demanding accountability at all times, which they can't handle, or she was intolerant of their lax attitude towards work, habitual absenteeism, or refusal to stop exploiting office hours for personal gain, such as collecting bribes or conducting personal businesses.

What if the victim and the accused are homosexual lovers? What if the victim eloped with his lover to conceal their relationship from a society that disapproves of homosexuality?

Here's why I say this: the victim appeared well-fed, clean, and healthy. He wasn't chained or restrained, nor was he gagged, so he could have escaped when his abductor went to work, as the abductor is a civil servant.

Well, I'm just thinking out loud.

Chai! How could scam people go extra mile to scam people? This IAS is too real to be scam: the TV adverts, the seminars, the testimonies of its beneficiaries, etc. You know what? Most of its beneficiaries are northerners based on the testimonies video I saw.

This is purely organised crime if it is eventually a scam.
Scammers must present a semblance of reality to persuade unsuspecting individuals, which is the same modus operandi of Yahoo Yahoo. Moreover, although many Nigerians recognize these schemes as scams, the allure of quick riches and greed often overrides their better judgment.

PropertiesRe: Dangers Of Wall Geckos And How To Get Rid Of Them by Teejay2033(m): 6:58am On May 09, 2024
Evejay:
HOW DANGEROUS ARE WALL GECKOS?
Wall geckos are generally regarded as being harmless but I'm sure most of you would have heard about the family that died after a mistaken diet of gecko. As investigations later revealed, the mother of the family had prepared a pot of soup and probably left the cover of the pot slightly open, to allow the steam from the soup to evaporate and the soup cool down before being covered. While she was away, a gecko fell into it and died.

The woman and her children later ate the soup. The next day, they all died from poisoning. Nobody could immediately fathom that they ate poison. In the course of investigation, the dead gecko was seen in the soup pot. Apparently the poison from the animal had leached into the soup. Ordinarily, the skin of the gecko is highly poisonous.

Even though many species are not poisonous they pose other dangers. geckos like other pests pose a health challenge as they leave behind their droppings and also transfer bacteria as they crawl from one place to another. The problem occurs when they begin slipping their way indoors, crawling up walls, under appliances and leaving behind their droppings.

Source: https://cleaneat.ng/how-to-eliminate-wall-geckos-in-your-house/
Buy Wall Gecko Repellent Spray here: https://www.neatstore.ng/product/exthor-gecko-repellent-spray/
This is not specific to wall geckos. If rats, cockroaches, centipedes, or even flies fall into already cooked food, it can lead to food contamination because these animals and insects carry germs on their bodies. Generally, wall geckos are not poisonous. They are harmless to humans and generally feed on insects, making them beneficial to have around in many environments.

CrimeRe: My Mum Was Beaten With A Machete By A Man Owing Her Money by Teejay2033(m): 12:34am On May 07, 2024
Beeb1e:
Hello everyone, I got a call from a man in the Village (Elele, Rivers State) on Tuesday night, that we should look for a way to come and carry our mother as she has slumped and was rushed to a hospital, where she was in coma.

He explained to me that my mother went to demand for the payment of the debt the man is owing her and he angrily beat her up, he stripped her , tore her clothes, her underwear was torn too. I’m literally crying as I type this. Everyone that tried to stop him he chased with the machete. Now my dad is late , else he won’t have tried this.

I am in Lagos so I’ve not seen her my sister that was able to travel to Elele to see her sent me the pictures.

She is out of coma now, but still unable to sit or stand or talk. We also noticed she is bleeding from her private part.

We arrested the evil man with the Elele police but the community Igwe bailed him, he is a known person in the community and owns a hotel there.

I really want this man to receive this level of Physical pain or more, because my mum almost lost her life.

I don’t know what to do or how to go about getting justice for her.

We are at military hospital port harcourt now.
If I were in your shoes, I would report the incident to the police, ensure they question him, consider pursuing legal action if feasible, and then entrust the outcome to God. However, it's often said that divine retribution, though delayed, is severe. As the scripture says, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord."

You lack respect for human life and dignity. German killed Jews but you're killing your own, how us that the same thing? Besides, the Germans paid damages and huge compensation for the massacre. Yes, they paid huge amounts of money to families of victims of the Holocaust and apologised. You don't even know the meaning of superstition.
Superstition, as defined, is the irrational belief in supernatural influences, akin to what you've expressed. I contend that your viewpoint reflects superstition. It's important to note that economic setbacks are not solely the result of bloodshed; rather, they are often attributed to poor management, lack of visionary leadership, corruption, and negative attitudes toward work, growth, and development.

So I sent an email to Integral Ad Science just to be sure of their so-called empowerment or partnership in Nigeria and here is their response.
Even after the genuine IAS company has distanced itself from this scheme, some persist in believing its legitimacy. Quite unfortunate!

In a well-functioning society, regulatory agencies like the CBN and NDIC, and antigraft agencies like the ICPC and EFCC would have already launched investigations into this scheme and similar ones. This echoes the pattern seen when fraudsters exploited MMM to deceive millions of Nigerians just a few years ago. Tragically, I personally knew an elderly woman who suffered a heart attack and ultimately passed away because she lost everything to the MMM scheme.

We will be here waiting when the IAS bubble finally burst.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Ias Is A Scam by Teejay2033(m): 12:13am On May 06, 2024
Integral Ad Science triggers memories of MMM which was initially deemed legitimate by many until it was too late. It's concerning how Nigerians often favor shortcuts to success. This is why we are easily scammed by fraudsters. Moreover, any business relying solely on referrals for success lacks legitimacy, especially when the source of purportedly huge profits remains unconvincing.
CultureRe: How Come The Title Of Oba Became The General Word For King In All Yoruba Lexicon by Teejay2033(m): 2:14am On Apr 11, 2024
gregyboy:
The name omo n' oba n'igodo ukwakpolopolo ”the child that shines for the igodomigodo people and the only great one"
This was the original title of the king of benin before it was igodo was later replaced by the word edo after the time of oba ewuare

It later shortened into omo n' oba( the child that shines) for easy pronouncing later in shortened to be oba by the Portuguese.....

'Omo N'Oba N'Edo' translates to "the son of the king in Edo." Originally, it was "Omo Oba ni Ado," signifying the connection between Ife and Benin, highlighting the Oba of Benin's lineage from the Oba of Ile-Ife. In ancient times, "Ado" referred to Edo as called by Ile-Ife.

The African kings of olds used to have lengthy names most of this names where like sentences

So calling the king of benin oba does not not reflect his full name and i bet the title omo n' oba n'godo ukuakpolopolo cannot be a Yoruba word or sentence
Because even the word oba in the title meant shinny and not king as the yorubas intend it to be...... Since the yorubas were third party callers of the word oba they felt the word oba meant king since it was representing a king in benin

Today the edo people can still agree with me the older ones still refer to the benin king as omo n' oba when having a discussion about him....

The word oba which the Portuguese shortened to refer to the oba was later introduced to the vassal yoruba state who later adopted it and begslan including in the title for kings while been adrsssed.....

It should be noted the benin people have a good number if edo indigeenes all over yoruba areas it installed its monarchy the edo kings in yoruba areas should be more than 30 some were even lost and yorubanised.

Edo people know your history.......

Dont let the conquered tell you they installed thier kings in your stoool

Egharevba was a benin historian who had first weote about orun oba ado out of myth when the site were dugged by nothing was found
Inside......

Chukwueze only had a bad day. Same as Aina. In fact, Aina has done wonderful well at the back in this tournament (except for a few mistakes here and there and a penalty loss). Invariably, these two can still be useful to us in the nearest future.

Though I agree that Iwobi should just go and rest like Ahmed Musa. Well, except we find a complete midfielder to pair him with and who will do all the dirty jobs for him in the midfield.

They deserve the win.
It appeared they did well because we played poorly. We were just sitting back and putting too much pressure on our defence line.

Overall, we got the tactics wrong. We shouldn't be defending against a team like Ivory Coast. Instead, we should be attacking them.
