It is not recognised as a Degree... does he have ACCA membership Or MSc or MBA ? If yes that can work. But with HND i doubt if he can get positive assessment.

k thanks i do apprecitate alot now i understand better
TemmyDavies:

This are other type of visa, not under visitor visa, except for (Conference, interview, meetings, holiday which is could be the purpose for applying for a visitor visa). But on your application form just write VISITOR VISA in the space provided for type of visa you are applyin for, then in your letter of introduction u explain fully the purpose for which u are travelling. #Simple anyother thing would lead to complications and would definitely lead to visa denial,

Travel / Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by tehan: 8:54pm On Jan 15, 2017
Undertake Skills assessment by the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS). This is the rate limiting step for skilled migration to Australia as a Medical Laboratory Scientist http://www.aims.org.au/documents/item/88

Usually done in two stages:
A) Paper based assessment; you will submit your certificates and job references to AIMS for evaluation. At the end of this stage you will be classified as an MLT and invited to write the AIMS professional exams.
B) The AIMS professional exam takes place in March/September each year in several cities around the world. If are successful in this exams, then you are ready for STEP 4
For more info about this exam, course contents, sample questions or venues, please view this link: http://www.aims.org.au/services/aims-assessments/medical-laboratory-scientist

GO TO THAT SITE U WUD UNDSTD BETTER ALTHOU WORKING FOR 20HOURS IN AWEEK IS PART OF THEIR CRITERIA
MissCee:
Hi all,

I want to enquire about the PR visa scheme. I have read majority of the pages but couldn't find the answer I need. I studied biomedical science in Uk (equivalent to medical laboratory science in Nigeria) and I graduated last year. AIMS requirements for assessment says proof of claimed work experience should be submitted with application. So far, I have my ielts with a minimum of 8 in each component - 20 points, my age - 25 points and my education 15 points, but I don't know if it can be classified as 15 without assessment as I read you have to take the exam to get full points or something of that sort.
I don't have any work experience in my field yet, so I don't know if I can still proceed with assessment, I need some help with this please.

You're on track brother.
Don't worry too much, if you survived Naija, you'll survive Oz.
And your medical profession is in high demand out here if you know your stuff. So, you may not have to worry about bills once you land a job.
Best wishes.

thanks i do appreciate ur comment , am a medical laboratory scientist working on my licences before coming down so as to make it easier to secure a job n i was in thinking of Sydney or Melbourne n so much talk on Sydney dat y i wanted to clear my tot n doubts, thanks again.

In addition, you may want to get a Forklift licence as most labour hire or recruitment agencies value that. Be careful though not to waste your little money gathering certificates that you may end up not using. Choose an industry or job of choice, and get the required certificate.
However, all these certificates DON'T guarantee you a job. It has more to do with your CV, Cover Letter and depth of search.
You need to look at some resumes of friends and adjust yours accordingly. You also need to try to sell yourself in your cover letter even if it means lying but be prepared to defend it. One trick that's also common in CVs for menial jobs is to REMOVE your degree and/or skilled experience as well as CLEARLY state your relevant skills relating to the job such as HARDWORKING, EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION, NUMERACY, HAND/EYE COORDINATION, USE OF TOOLS, etc. Like you said, AVAILABLE FULL TIME is the selling point. I wonder why you lack this during holiday. Finally, where and how you search for jobs matter. SEEK works for some, GUMTREE works for others, while Face-to-Face or Door-to-Door works as well.
IMPORTANT:
Don't apply and wait for reply especially when a phone number is included in the job ad. Send your application, wait half an hour or couple of hours and follow up with a call. MAKE SURE that you're confident during the call, and show your enthusiasm for the job. It feels bad to know that I'm writing this for a casual/menial job. But it's also worth knowing that it's the MAIN job of some people who make up the MAJORITY of the labour force. So, it being casual is subjective.
Note also that, even with all these, you may still find it hard to get a job. So, perseverance and resilience is required. But I'm sure you'll be fine sooner than later. Best wishes.
