As regards to work permit.i actually spoke with someone at home office this afternoon.
The man said there are lots of job, but unfortunately 85% to 90% would require german proficiency.
He advised if i can get B2 german, he would be able to help.
I dont think my head can study german to B2. What can i do now.
pls anyone with genueine link should let me know

Kudos to the contributors and mostly to the brain behind this thread.

My ambition is to relocate to Germany through work permit and this thread has been very helpful with all insighs and hopes that it is doable.

One thing i noticed is this seem easier for people in the IT feed due to demands and numerous diversifications they enjoy. I have not been lucky with job offers.

I will be glad if i can be mentored here.More glad if I'm lucky to get a volunteer to help in active mentoring�

I am a BSc holder (2008) a Quantity Surveyor by profession with cognate 10years post graduation(NYSC) experience. I'm a chartered and registered Quantity Surveyor. This mean I have sat and passed all professional exams available for the profession here in Nigeria.

I will await feedbacks and contributions from you guys.

Try Mansard. And make pocket no dry oh. You go need money to settle down here at least. Your company relocation package would maybe be paid after your first salary so carry some small money with you. Nice write up about the interview. I go write mine too.

It's easier to get a German visa than it is to get a house in berlin.

Get a wg for 600 max and you can move into a flat after getting schufa and the rest.

Should have mentioned wunderflats was the recommended website and I already do have 3 places I’m looking at. I just wanted to confirm if others did it this way. €1050 per month is a lot .


A schufa doesn’t sound hard to get . I already have a German bank account via TransferWise ( though N26 was recommended but I have had UK and a German account via TransferWise for a pretty long time now). I have a contract too but I hear house hunting is highly competitive.

Please read this first to understand the basic concepts. These applies to Berlin as I do not know about other states.

There is a bureaucracy here... You must have a Schufa, bank account, contract or payslips of three months before you can get a house.


Just read about the Anmeldung and most importantly get a house that allows you to do it. That way you can bypass the bureaucracy and have all your documents registered. If you have money use wunderflats. Else check the fb groups in the article.

This is crazy though. I got this appointment like early January but I was ill during that period and 2 friends were the ones helping to check for appointments. One of them was able to book an appointment but a little typo. I just got well back and I was looking through everything and found out a character was in a wrong position.

My employer has been informed my appointment is on the 22nd.

The lawyer is coming to our house this week and they wanted to see both parents and two witnesses for an interview at our place lol.


I just hope my friends (the witnesses) don't go and do oversabi lol as I have informed them to say the truth and the ones that they don't remember they should just not say or write it

They actually don't call. They physically visit. In my case they visited two persons from my family, one from my hubby, and one from my job. The verification officer has a form which he gives them to fill. It's basically asking them for the same information you spouse filled on her own application. Name, date of birth, schools you went, HOW did you meet, your wedding date those kind of stuff.

They will also ask for pictures

l) So you’ve already been in Europe?
m) Can I see your old passport?
n) Have you stayed in German before?
o) When is your intended joining date? ---- This is very important and this would determine when your Visa would start
p) What will be your salary there?
q) How long do you intend to stay in Germany?
r) Will your family be accompanying you?
s) Have you already arranged for a house in Germany? Where do you plan to stay?



Visa processing can take up to two - eight weeks.

Make sure all your documents are also complete so Uncle Paulinus won't send you back at the gate. Best of luck

I am not the consular and I don't give out Visa but I think your chances might be slim and now that they already have your data you need to be careful of your next move and don't complicate things further.

It's easier to get married in Nigeria sha. My advice since you genuinely love her why not marry her here and impregnate her. Perhaps that might help since it shows your marriage and love is really genuine.

Hmmmmm....I don't mean to be rude or mean but you sound desperate and that might be a huge hindrance to achieving what you want. Sometimes you have to buy yourself in the shoes of the person reviewing your visa. Once they catch a sense of desperation then it's unlikely your application will be successful.

I think your marriage process will be a whole less cumbersome if your fiancee comes to Nigeria to marry you. It would be a lot easier for you to do statutory marriage here than in Germany.
