Yeah, they do have an agency helping me with the relocation process

I spoke to them already and it does look fine but the earlier I can get out of the country the better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am potentially looking at traveling to Accra to get this done. They seem to have appointments for February.
My advice don't try accra except you are have residence there and except most of your documents are from accra. Else it would make it extremely delayed because there would be three country involved in this process now. Nigeria - Ghana - Germany
TravelRe: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by temitayoolu(m): 6:26pm On Jan 17, 2019
The company would wait if you explain to them very well. Do they have an agency here in Germany managing your process ?

Do they know the expectation ? Do they know it might take 3 - 6 months ? Make sure expectations are clear.

therealclown:
Lol baba, let me not calm down o. At this stage, it might be dependent on the company to wait or not.

Most tech jobs care about some level of education and focus extremely on your skills and experience.

And yes tech jobs pays alot in Nigeria and abroad.
pppppppppppp:
Yeah, first degree is key but it'd be possible to get a good paying job as a developer in Nigeria if you are good enough.

I don't have a university degree. Dropped out of Unilorin when I was 18 ( 300L, Midway 2nd semester ). No, I didn't have terrible grades. my CGPA was 3.2 ( might have been better if I attended classes and read weeks prior to exams rather than just photocopying colleagues notes a week or 2 before examinations)

I am 22 now, I have a 400K ( post taxes) job in Nigeria ( 300K when I was 21 ).

It just depends on skillsets and learning. I had a pretty popular tech blog ( not Samsung and Tecno phone crap but real tech programming stuff)
and my GitHub was good enough.

You will be rejected, Sure thing. But use that as fuel to doing more and improving.

While I make enough as a developer and I am comfortable than most people in the country will ever be, I am pressing forward to conquer the world plus Nigeria is starting to be seriously unsafe for young successful people.

I just booked my flight to Berlin in the later part of this month.
TravelRe: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by temitayoolu(m): 5:23pm On Jan 17, 2019
Lol baba Kam Dam.

Lots of people wait for three months to get visa.

Takes a lot of time to get dates even if you have a million naira to pay it won't still get you dates.

Start searching everyday and night. Best of luck.
therealclown:
Man, I have a job already in Berlin. Resumption date is supposed to be on the 15th. Still no visa appointment.

This is crazy. I have the Federal Government agency thing and my signed work contract. Everything, Just an appointment.

It's crazy they say even slots in March are filled.

Stupid and dumb question, but Is there some kind of way to hasten the visa appointment process? I really have to leave the country before the end of the month or 2nd week of February latest. ( Booking a late flight is not an issue ).

World wide Azure is not as big as aws. Don't limit yourself to Azure. I've done Azure aws and gcloud before. Aws is the biggest.

cmoney1987:
What about Microsoft Azure, is that one not sellable over there?

Thanks

The embassy already knows which institution are allowed conduct language testing. She needs to get certified by the embassy I believe. Otherwise she teaches but the students still go to goethe institute for their exam.

9japrof:
I know of a Russian who knows how to speak German and English whose open to relocating to Nigeria, do you mean if she comes to Nigeria (Abuja) and starts a language school here that she would do well
TravelRe: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by temitayoolu(m): 12:07pm On Jan 17, 2019
If you know Aws very well and have a certification you'd be hot cake here oh.

Try to learn Linux terminal and bash then your chances would increase very well

I have some International IT certs and it helps.

cmoney1987:
Thanks for your prompt response.
I have optimized my resume and linkedin profile and have gotten few job invite.

I have windows /cloud computing skills. I just know how to use linux but not on the professional level. Though am improving myself in that area.

http://www.jobsinberlin.eu/search?q=Java+Developer+%28Spring+or+Hibernate%29

Do a search yourself I believe there is a Great mobile and Java market here.

Just Package your CV.

Open Source also works. You can push to Git and answer questions on stack overlflow too.

wamiikechukwu:
Hello, good day.

How's the job market for Java and Android developers over there in Berlin.

I am in school already so I am just making enquiries as I am building my portfolio and making my projects open source.
TravelRe: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by temitayoolu(m): 11:07am On Jan 17, 2019
Depends on how you package your resume and your LinkedIn profile. God knows I get around 4 linkedin messages every week looking for people with my particular IT skills.

Do you have good Linux skills ? Windows or Cloud Computing ?

You might not get IT support but maybe a systems engineer job. Check Stack Overflow and xing.com

cmoney1987:
Many thanks to temitayoolu, sam8850 and other great contributors to this wonderful post.

I have Hnd in computer Science, presently working as an IT Support staff for a bank with over 5yrs experience. Please am very much interested in getting a job in germany.

Are there really jobs for IT Support guys there with my qualification? Please what is the surest way of going about it? Though have applied to some jobs online.

Your advise is highly appreciated. Thank you

Justlanded:
Hi all, I'm just reading all comments regarding family reunion, and I'm a bit confused as to how to go about mine. Pls I'll appreciate anyone's response. I currently live and study in cyprus, and i just got married in Hungary to a hungarian citizen, but he lives and work in Germany. The home office in germany said that i have to go to my home country to apply for a resident permit. Do I have to come back to Nigeria to apply for family reunion visa since he is an European? The Hungarian Immigration said I can only get resident permit if my husband and I live in hungary. Pls advice.. thanks.
This is so complicated sha.

If you can get a resident permit in Hungary (let your husband file for you) then apply for Germany spouse reunion as a Hungarian resident. The other part is to go to Nigeria and apply.

First book a date for spouse renewal visa and travel to Nigeria at least a day before your interview. Do the interview and wait for the embassy decision.

Kinda complicated but I don't know what you can do other than what the German Embassy already said.

Don't take my advice as a legal advice oh.

jacob05:
Those of us using bitbucket nko? and private repo? undecided
TravelRe: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by temitayoolu(m): 11:13am On Jan 15, 2019
Has you hubby gotten his resident permit ? or is he a citizen ?

I believe he should have done his Ameldung, permit and insurance. If he has done those then he should send you a copy and I believe you'd drop it to the embassy.

You can read this doc https://ec.europa.eu/home-affairs/sites/homeaffairs/files/11a_germany_family_reunification_en.pdf for more information on the process. It takes a lot of time

dany5:
Please who has heard anything from Lagos Consulate?i had my interview in september and have not received any mail not even the verification completed mail.Who else has waited this long for family reunion?
TravelRe: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by temitayoolu(m): 11:03am On Jan 15, 2019

This is not how to ask questions sir.

You are asking me how I got my job what skills I had and what role I am working in here. Those are kinda personal related questions. He remain small you'd ask for my company, salary, name of my wife, where I stay and all name of my exes.

I asked you if you wanna go into tech so I can maybe share some tips with you and advice but no you decide to act entitled. Stop the entitlement mentality.

This thread is simply for "General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries". Let's be guided please
