According to the story, The "Holy, honest and diigent" agent(who should not be blamed according to you) told the op the full duty of the car was 2.750 when he knew it was more than that.

He paid 1.9, tipped the customs(those that should actually be blamed, according to you) and assured the op that the full duty has been paid.

Even when the car was about to be transported, the innocent agent assured him that the duty was paid in full

Like I agreed with you, the agent is not to be blamed. The op should be blamed for buying a white Lexus

You assume too much. What proof do you have that he tipped?

My understanding is that he made payment based on valauation issued by Customs.

Dont forget the process;
- agent does declaration;
- customs issues assessment,
- Custom does examination;
and final check at the gate.

The only person to blame is buyer who failed to do due diligence on the car. Before now, buyers focus is always engine and transmission. No one really checks safety.

KakakiAutos recommended AdexFem as the clearing agent. In his words, "Using AdexFem will cost you more than other agents because Adexfem pays full duty on cars he clears, unlike other agents that cut corners."

I said good, i will rather go with the expensive Adexfem option and have peace of mind than being penny wise pound foolish. So i was billed N2.750M (Two Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) to clear the vehicle with full duty paid and i transferred the full sum same day. Only to have my vehicle impounded today and taken to the customs office because Adexfem decided to shortchange the Government; after collecting full payment from me.

I will Be back with more facts, figures and evidences of the transaction.

2m duty is small for Lexus gx 460.

Customs will issue you additional assessment of 1m to 1.5m.
