The invasion of Iraq was premeditated, it is not about 9-11, it is more than that. If it was about 9-11, these guys would have bombed and reduce Afganistan to ashes first before going to the next culprits or accomplice - Pakistan. As the time of 9-11 only Pakistan, UAE and Saudi Arabia recognise the Taliban government. Iran nearly went to war with the Taliban in late 90s but was stopped by international communities, especially USA. They were warned not to meddle into another countries affair. So instead for the US to fight the main culprits for the 9-11 the outsource the war to Pakistan, the real force behind Taliban. Isnt that funny? People should at anytime reason with discussing international affairs. Takin side doesnt help matters, cos we are not decision makers in US. What is the US saying about the Turkish Army pounding the Northern Iraq in the name of fighting rebels?

Because that was the practice at that by all the regional governments, and so do u expect him to be different. And moreover after independence there was no integration process betweeen the North and the South. So regional governments were more powerful than the central government.

1964 was still a regional government and that was the Premier of the Nothern region talking about the his government in Nothern Nigeria. What do u expect him to do?

I just dont understand why people trying to find any sorth of reason to justify the invasion of Iraq. Dont people ever know that it is not advisable to medle into family affair. The Iraq people didnt say that Saddam was not a crook, but that is their personal problem. Despite Saddam being a dictator, at the time of war people were living a fairly descent life. What the Americans brought to them is completely alien to their culture and belief and indeed the war in Iraq have lead to the distruction of the country and have let loose psychopaths who were under control during the Saddam era. These psycopaths have denied the innocent ones the right to live a descent life. What Saddam Hussain did to the  Kurds and the Shias is more or less like a civil war - the Kurds wanted an independent country, and the Shiite wanted to control the government. What do u expect a  president will do? Even US had their civil war when certain states wanted to opt out of the country. And their are many countries fighting civil and their government are using all necessery means to bring them under control. From China to Russia, from Spain to Sri Lanka. Druing Nigerian civil, hunger was used as weapon for mass destruction. Despite Saddam being a dictator, the country have good infrastructure.

It depends on what Nigerians in general want, and I will recommend a referundum. If we agree to remain as 1 country then it should be abolished, however if going by what most people want, to devide the country, there is no need to further integrate us. This issue of indegine and settler will gradualy become so apparent that people will no longer identify themselves as Nigeria as years pass and so they end of Nigeria will come without us even knowing.

The guy didnt do anything wrong. That is how American Economy always work. How do you explain all the so called profits companies make without any real investment. Companies are after quick profit, everybody want to make money over night. So the only way the to purnish them is for the old man to collect their money and enjoy his life.

Well, as a regular Nairaland contributor, u can attest to that.

I agree with u in respect to the Kurds. But the Turkish across the boarder hate the idea of the freedom the Kurds have. Already they have made incursion into Iraq to attack what they called rebels. It is just a complication of interest. And the American government knows that.

Well, wait and see, once Americans troop are pull out of Iraq then u will understand what I mean. These people are not like Nigerians. Give them freedom and you are in trouble. The animosity between the different clans in Iraq is morethan the one the Ibo people have for Northerners. The American government made a mistake and they know it. Their only hope for peace in Iraq is for another dictator to spring up from nowhere and take over the country and be loyal to them. Well another thing that Americans always hate is the growing influence of Iran, and what they just did was to bolster Iranian influence in the middle east by given them a government loyal to them in Bagdad free of charge. From whatever angle a person look at it, it does not auger well for the American interest.

I think some people think that democracy is what everybody want. These people in the middle east are not interested in democracy. And it will be very difficult for them to be govern by democratic means. There is no way Arabs will have democracy. They just dont like it. Right from the begining of Islam, not long ago after the death of the Prophet (PBUH) they abandoned the voting systems and decide to go back to monarchy. Anybody familiar with Islamic system of governance will tell u that, Islam does not recognize mornachy, but majority of Arab world have mornachy system of government. Iraqis are not intersted in democracy. And they dont want it.

U can find them even here in UK. Many of them. Many UK graduates cant write very well - though they can speak. So please stop judging Nigerian graduates based purely on English. English is nothing but Language of instruction, and if u can understand what he said, then it is fine.
