Paper route averages 3 months processing time at this time...Processing times changes depending on volume of work at the said time..I think online has been more consistent..
Why do you think the average processing times for online applications have been more consistent?

Okay .. yours is different ftom mine. Mine is CALA instead of GHAN .. My guess is study permits are being processed in Lagos and Accra as well.

study permit applications for applicants living in Nigeria are being processed at the Canadian visa office in Accra, Ghana.
#VerySure
I disagree with you. When u track ur application through the VFS platform, you will see a message saying your application is being processed in the Canada Visa Office, Lagos. Maybe they issue the visas in Accra but they are being processed in Lagos.

@tnuola do you track your application at all? There's really something wrong because your date is well passed. I think you should track it via VFS website.
Padike hw fa. Any news from CIC? Do you also know anybody that is to resume in Carleton University this winter? Cos its like we re the only ones here on NL.

what do you mean by up-front medical? I did my medical couple days after I was asked to.
I can't really be precise about what made mine fast, but then again I'll suggest you present the following along side with once you already mentioned; Attestation of birth from National Population Commission, Affidavit of support/sponsor notarized by a Notary public service, I also paid 1 year tuition and a part payment for accommodation, the receipt were attached. However, I could vividly remember back then, that someone didn't pay fees and still got his trv literally, just so know I'm not certain if really the fees payment actually did boost the process, just be sure of the authenticity of every doc you are presenting, in other words, try as much as possible to keep your docs formal in a latter headed paper and leave the rest to God, it should be a good run.
I did most of that anyway, don't have an offer for accommodation so I couldn't pay before my application but I did all what you said. Anyway, thanks. I just have to hope for the best.

I don't think so.... House, police Character Cert is it same as Police Clearance Cert? which one is required.....
Police character certificate is the one needed. It comes from Alagbon in Lagos state but you can apply from State CID offices. Police clearance certificate can be gotten frm any station but its not needed by the CIC

Tbh, i can't really remember a single date, the most i can remember was that the whole process took 2-3 weeks and it was via online.
Please Toucheli, did u do an upfront medical examination? Cos i m hoping mine can be as fast as urs. I applied online, attached my poilce character certificate and eMedical sheet, and I have also paid my tuition fees for the Winter term.

What else did u do that you think made urs this fast. I know its God ultimately but just enlighten me about the things you did dt u felt made it quick.

Thanks brother, submitted medical with application. We go see God willing.
Did you attach your eMedical sheet to an online or paper application. If it was attached an online application, in what section did you upload it? Also has it been updated on ur CIC account that it has been received by them?

VFS will never give such details. They'll instead refer you to what is public information on the CIC website regarding processing time frames. Its already been established here that the online route is faster than the paper route. I think its even more reliable right now to assess the average time lines by reading through this thread in detail.
Tnks bro .. I ll do dt.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by ThatWarriBoy: 1:56pm On Dec 19, 2014
Does any one know if VFS can estimate how long it will take for your study permit to be processed? Either paper or online, so I will know if asking them will be a good idea.

I doubt the possibility, considering the recent slow pace and the period here is even less than 4 weeks. When is the expiry date of your admission letter?
There is no expiry date. But I will call the University to find out. It is in God's hands anyway. However I talked to someone who has some experience with this and he said he did a paper application for someone in Sept and he got it in 2 weeks. So I am hoping mine takes that kinda shape, keeping in view that they don't have to call me for medicals, having done it upfront since last month

Area, hailings. Ist of all u'll most likely not get it b4 one month after resumption date sef so better start looking to defer. Wud be nice if u have a May start date, but if its september,u dnt have a choice but to defer till then. All d best sha,God dey.
I will keep that in mind. Thanks bro.

Good day Nairalanders, I am kinda new here but I have been going through the threads and I appreciate what you are all doing here.

Anyways, I am in a difficult situation in my Study Permit Processing. I was given a conditional admission by Carleton University for a Masters in Engineering program in Electrical and Computer Engineering in November and it took some weeks for my Undergraduate University to send my transcripts to Canada.

I finally satisfied the condition, paid my Tuition fees for the Winter term and submitted an Online application for my Study permit on the 11th of December. I also did an upront medical examination last month and attached it and my police character certificate to my letter of explanation on my application.

Please, I will like to know what are my chances of getting my TRV before the 5th of January. I know I have not waited for long but I will like to know what my chances are of getting it timeously.

God bless.
