mosgoon: Look over my Shoulder. It's a case interview tutorial material for management consulting firms done by Victor Cheng, the very popular former management consultant at Mckinsey (the top management consulting firm in the world) and case inteview tutor. But it's really expensive (100k in naira) and i found out it was critical to me getting the Mckinsey job in Mck Nigeria as a business analyst. My time at Mck also made me know how valuable the material is due to several case studies i was exposed to and how many applicants to Mck don't prepare well. So in summary LOMS includes both candidate-led case style dialogues and interviewer-led/command and control formats and it's very beneficial for all levels including associate level above which allows only applicants with MBAs thanks for this clear explanation, I wouldn't mind if you can help a brother as well lekanakinola19atyahoo.com |

Tigris007: For the first question they said that selling price is 10percent below cost price. It means selling price is 90 percent of cost price.
They now said if you added 1494 to the cost price you make profit of 12percent. It means that 12percent of the original(cost) price of the product plus the product itself equals your profit.
Equation: let c.p. be cost price.
12%c.p=1494
Move 12% to the other side(since12%ofc.p. means 12%×c.p., when it moves to the other side, it becomes division)
◆c.p.=1494÷12% (REMEMBER ANYTHING PERCENT IS OVER 100)
c.p=1494÷(12/100) (÷12/100 is same as ×100/12)
C.p.=1494×100/12
At this juncture...no vex...solve am and confirm the answer.....
 You are very funny SOLUTION TO QUE 2 Let the CP = X SP = X +5% of X = 1.05X If he had taken #75 more, SP = 1.05X+ 75 -------------- (1) According to question, Profit = 13% 1.05X + 75= X + 13% of X 1.05X - 1.13X = - 75 0.08X = 75 X = 937.5 So, CP = #937.5 |

faithfuldon7: Pls guys help me solve this Maths. Q1: A person sells a TV at 10% below the cost price. Had he received N1, 494 more, he would have made a profit of 12.5%.what was the cost price of the TV?
Let the CP = X SP = X- 10% of X = 0.9X If he had taken 1494 dollars more, SP = 0.9X+ 1494 --------------- (1) According to question, Profit = 12.5% 0.9X + 1494 = X + 12.5% of X 0.9X - 1.125X = - 1494 0.225X = 1494 X = 6640. So, CP = N6640.
Q2: Mark sold a table at a gain of 5%.Had he sold it for N75 more, he would have gained 13%.find the cost price of the Table.
Please kindly help me out. |

kenkels: If I buy a melon and a coconut the cost will be N1.19 if I buy a melon and a pineapple, the cost will be 1.45. If I buy a coconut and a pineapple the cost will be N1.40. What are the individual prices? M - melon, P-pineapple, C-coconut, N1. 19 = 119k, N1. 45=145k, N1.40=140k M+C= 119 --- eq i M+P=145 --- eq ii C+P=140 --- eq iii Make P subject of the formula in eq iii P=140-C Substitute for p in equation ii M+140-C = 145 Make Me the subject of formula and M= 145 - 140 +C M= 5+C substitute into eq I to find C 5+C+C =119 2C= 119-5 C= 114/2 = 57 To find M substitute for c in M = 5 +C = 5+57 M =62 To find P substitute for C in P=140-C=140-57 P=83 So therefore, the price for each is Melon = 62k Pineapple = 83k Coconut = 57k Thanks |

Dignitas: The group leading thing could be a gbese o. The guys in my group smartly collected all the leading positions. The time keeper, moderator, and Secretary. I no send them. I only tried to pick any opportunity that came my way to blow my grammar. Even though our moderator gave everyone equal opportunity to speak. Our leaders did well in the leading thing sha. Don't just blow grammar, be analytical. If you can add eloquence to it, great!
But I noticed the judge penning down something whenever I picked an opportunity to speak. I don't know what he was writing sha. But my group members counted me among those that contributed well.
So, no go drag leadership. Contribute well, and reason with others. Don't belittle their ideas. Thanks for your contribution, your success is assured. Please, this logical reasoning , is it the true, false, cannot say questions? or "if true will weaken/strengthen the argument", also the numerical part, were there tables and graphs (fully shl) or normal GMAT question that just contains graphs and tables, just want to know if am preparing in the right direction, haven't been invited yet. Thanks for your quick response. |
