THeBFF i can feel your excitement. I'm just wondering if it's possible to work an grow your hair because all the washing and moisturizing stuffs when you work late and rise early does not seem feasible to me. PS i'm hitting your blog right nowKushKush, I understand what you mean. Having the time to do these things can be hard especially when your are first starting out. I work as well and I still find time to wash my hair at least once a week. When I first started growing my hair I was a bit over zealous, I did my hair almost 3 times a week. (I wasn't working, I was in school then). But now that I work, and with Lagos traffic and all I find focusing on my hair once a week is enough. The truth is, yes you can grow your hair with a busy schedule you just have to incorporate it into your routine. For instance moisturizing you hair every night before you go to bed will only take you 5 minutes. the same goes for if you choose to moisturize in the morning. Moisturizing my hair has become second nature to me now. Its a habit like brushing my teeth. If you find that you really don't have time to deal with your hair on a weekly basis. Put it in a protective style like braids, ghana weaving, or a weave. But make sure when you do this you still moisturize your hair at least every 3-5 days. Find a good leave in spray and moisturize. Also make sure whenever you wash your hair you deep condition. |
Hi Ladies, I am a hair and beauty fanatic and ever since I moved back to Lagos I've been on the quest for stores that sell quality products, Most especially hair products. I discovered a few years ago that African women were not doomed to have short hair, that our hair can actually grow. Since then I've been on a mission/war path, to grow out my real hair and keep it healthy. I've been growing it for close to 3 years now and so far so good, I even set up a blog to help other Naija babes who needed help with their hair, But how can I really help if I don't know where to get good products? Anyway, I wanted to start this discussion to see if any of you had some input or just wanted to talk about haircare. I actually really want to help those who have hair issues, so lets get chatting. ![]() www.blackbeautyfanatic.com |
Lol! this is a funny post. Please there is nothing wrong with wearing a weave. I've grown out my hair, but still I wear weaves for variety and to protect my real hair. |
Another quick tip for using soaps for acne, make sure you leave the soap on your face long enough for it to work. When you lather and apply the soap to your face let it sit on your face for at least 2 minutes so that the ingredients in the soap can really penetrate your skin. On the weekends you can even leave it on for 5 minutes like a mask. I hope this little piece of advice help you! ![]() |
My Dear, you are soo right. the gap in the market is huge. I'm a huge beauty product junkie especially when it comes to hair, the lack of products is sad and frustrating. I blog about this sometimes, io I think its a very good idea to try and fill that gap. I don't think its fair that we have to travel out of the country to get good quality products. |
I love nail designs, don't know why but I just do. Its so hard finding manicurist in Lagos that do nice designs so I've had to learn how to do them myself . My default color is always a baby pink. Thats what I have on now. Please if anyone knows someone who does nail designs in Lagos let me know. ![]() |
Woooohoooo!!!!! Just the post I was looking for! Sorry for the excitement but mehn since I moved back to Nigeria last year, whenever I talk about hair people look at me like I'm an alien. Its nice to see a fellow hairlista on board. Growing my hair this last year has been tedious but I am making progress. I even started a blog last month to document my progress and help my fellow Naijalistas out. Please oh black hair does grow and I can testify to it. Just visit my blog: www.blackbeautyfanatic.com . I have been growing my hair for close to 3 years and have succeeded! Now that I've gotten that excitement off my chest. Please Please, does anyone know where to get good hair products in Lagos? The stores here have been killing me. |

Hello Ladies! (And gents if there are any) I was reading through this post and I have to agree with Soldee. Sunscreen is the number one step in maintaining any complexion, especially in this Naija Sun. I've been a faithful sunscreen user for 6-7 years now and I cant go back. In fact I force everyone in my house to use it self. I know what you mean by wanting to brighten your skin safely and gently,. You need to exfoliate regularly and find gentle creams with arbutin, licorice, and vitamin c C. I've also been using papaya soap now for a while and it has worked wonders on my skin. Living in Nigeria I've found that it can be hard to find products so I find do-it-yourself recipes online to make up my beauty routine. The one recipe that has never failed is a yogurt and honey mask. 1/2 cup of plain yogurt and 1 teaspoon of native honey. Put this on your face for 30 min or an hour and wash it off with warm water. I promise is you do this at least 2 times a week you won't regret it. |
