Career5 Ways To Build Relationships At Work by TheBlog(op): 11:03am On Aug 29, 2017
If you are the kind of person who thinks that your work life is all about you going to work, doing your work and coming back home, then you need to think again. You may be great at your job, but there’s something very important that’s still missing.

Being at work is about much more than doing your work. You spend several waking hours on most days of the week in your office. Perhaps you spend as much time in office as you do at home, if not more. And, therefore, it’s crucial that you have strong and healthy relationships at work. Not only will this help you perform better at work, it will also add to your overall career development.

A good working relationship has several advantages:

- Your co-workers and boss will trust you. They will be more open to ideas and suggestions from you.

- Your boss will think of you every time new career opportunities come along in the company.

- Your customers, clients and other key stakeholders in the company will be happy with you and things will get done more easily.

- When working in a team, your performance will be free of hindrances such as competitiveness and jealousy, and your efforts will reap better results.

- If you have a good relationship with people at work, you will be comfortable with experimentation and exploring new opportunities at work.

A healthy working relationship entails trust, mutual respect and open communication. Just as you would expect your boss and co-workers to be open to your ideas and suggestions, you should be equally welcoming and respectful of theirs. Being honest, expressing gratitude and taking a little bit of time out to enquire about each other’s well being are also important aspects of a good relationship.

Here are 6 ways in which you can build relationships at work:

1. Develop your soft skills: Some of the key soft skills that you need to succeed in your career include your ability to connect with others. Good communication, working well in a team and conflict resolution are three important skills that are the basis for developing a good relationship with people at work.

SportsBarcelona Might Move For Chelsea’s Willian by TheBlog(op): 7:42am On Aug 27, 2017
Barcelona could turn their attention towards Chelsea’s Willian should they fail to land his compatriot Philippe Coutinho, say reports.

The 29-year-old started only 15 Premier League games for the English champions last season despite signing a four-year deal in 2016 and is said to be open to a move elsewhere.

Manchester United reportedly enquired for his availability earlier this summer but were flatly rejected by the London club, however a bid from abroad may provoke a different response, according to The Times.

The Brazilian international moved to Stamford Bridge in 2013 following stints at Shakhtar Donestk and Anzhi Makhachkala, winning two Premier League titles with the club.

SportsFloyd Mayweather Defeats Conor Mcgregor In 10th Round T.K.O by TheBlog(op): 7:29am On Aug 27, 2017
The best boxer in the world, Floyd Mayweather beat one of the best mixed martial artists, Conor McGregor in a boxing match.

In his return from a two-year retirement, Floyd Mayweather improved to 50-0 with a 10th-round TKO over an incredibly game Conor McGregor in their pay-per-view superfight at T-Mobile Arena. But the storyline was just as much about McGregor, the UFC lightweight champion, in defeat than it was about the 40-year-old Mayweather in victory.

McGregor, 29, who was making his debut as a boxer, never fought reckless or overly aggressive, in contrast to his prediction of a first-round knockout. What he did was present Mayweather with a poised and credible challenge, teasing a bright future in the boxing game should he consider it.

“He’s a lot better than I thought he was,” Mayweather said. “He used different angles. He was a tough competitor, but I was the better man tonight.

“We talked about how he’s a tough competitor, and I think we gave the fans what they wanted to see. I chose a hell of a dance partner to dance with. Conor McGregor, you are a hell of a champion.”

Mayweather, who officially announced his retirement after the fight, was true to his prediction throughout the fight’s build when he promised it wouldn’t go the distance. He also stuck to his guns about standing in front of McGregor looking for a finish.

After a slow start in which Mayweather gave away the first three rounds in order to pick up McGregor’s rhythms, the former pound-for-pound king began his attack.

Mayweather, who has 50 wins, 27 of them which came from KOs, focused on the body in the middle rounds in an effort to zap McGregor’s gas tank. The investment began to pay off as McGregor looked weary late in Round 7. Two rounds later, McGregor was lucky to make the final bell as Mayweather wobbled him with right hands.

“He’s a tough competitor” Mayweather said. “Our game plan was to take our time, let him shoot all his heavy shots early and then take him out at the end down the stretch.”

Round 10 was all Mayweather as he walked down the fading Irishman with right hands. After a clean combination against the ropes, referee Robert Byrd jumped in at 1:05 to wave off the fight.

“I thought it was close. Let me go down, let the man put me down,” McGregor said about the finish. “Wobbly and fatigued? I’m clear-headed. Let me wobble back to me corner. If they finished that round he’d be wobbling to the morgue.

“You’ve got to put me out. No one is taking these kinds of risks.“

Culture5 Signs You Are Dealing With A Typical Nigerian by TheBlog(op): 12:07pm On Aug 24, 2017
There are certain unmistakable signs which shows that you’re dealing with a typical Nigerian. These signs are very hard to ignore.

Here a five signs that you are dealing with a typical Nigerian:

1 – You’re Greeted With The State Of Your Weight After A Long Period Of Separation

A typical Nigerian will break the ice with something like ‘you’ve added weight o!’ or ‘wow, you’re thinner now o, were you sick?’, when you see them again after a long period of separation.

This is one of the major ways you’ll know you’re dealing with a typical Nigerian. They just can’t help it.

2 – They Have Two Phones

This can definitely be considered the trademark of a typical Nigerian. The two phones usually consist of one smart-phone and one flip or classic mobile phone (torchlight phone as most Nigerians know it). It doesn’t matter if the smartphone is a dual-sim phone and there really isn’t a need for the other one, it’s just a necessary trademark for the typical Nigerian to have them both.

Although, some argue that having two phones isn’t just to show off and it’s the current state of power in the country that makes it imperative to have a backup phone, in the event the battery of the other runs down and there is no opportunity to charge it. This is a valid argument and one of the major factors contributing to the two phone trademark of typical Nigerians. Other variations of the two phone trademark includes having one smart-phone and a blackberry smartphone.

3 – They’re Extremely Security Conscious & Watchful

This is not without good reason, considering the security forces in the country isn’t exactly top-notch and the security situation in the country is also more or less a mess. Due to this fact, typical Nigerians are highly security conscious and are more inclined to be as secretive as possible with details of their private and personal life, sometimes even bordering on paranoia with how secretive they can be.

SportsRonaldo’s Appeal Against Ban Rejected by TheBlog(op): 9:24pm On Aug 22, 2017
Cristiano Ronaldo’s final route of appeal against his five-match ban for pushing a referee after being sent off in the Spanish Super Cup was rejected by Spain’s administrative sports court (TAD) on Tuesday.

“TAD has rejected the appeal presented by Real Madrid against the five-match ban,” a TAD spokesperson confirmed to AFP.

Ronaldo blasted his treatment by the Spanish football federation as “persecution” after he was controversially shown a second yellow card for diving after coming off the bench to score as Real won the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup 3-1.

The Portugal captain was handed a one-match ban for the 10th red card of his career and a further four-game suspension for pushing referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea in protest.

SportsBarcelona Sue Neymar For €8.5 Million by TheBlog(op): 8:46pm On Aug 22, 2017
Barcelona are seeking at least €8.5 million from Neymar for breach of contract, the club said on Tuesday as the bitter fallout rumbles on from his world record €222-million move to Paris Saint-Germain.

“In the lawsuit, the club demands the player return the already paid sum for his contract renewal as he has not completed his contract; 8.5 million euros in damages; and an additional 10 percent because of delayed payment,” Barcelona said in a statement.

Barcelona, Neymar and his father and agent, Neymar Sr, are embroiled in a dispute over bonuses included in the five-year contract renewal he signed in 2016.

Despite being under contract, Barcelona were powerless to stop his move to PSG earlier this month as the French side met the buyout clause in his contract.

Barca added the demand was lodged against Neymar on August 11 with Barcelona’s employment court, eight days after his stunning move to Ligue 1.

The Catalan giants have also passed the claim onto Fifa and the French Football Federation via the Spanish Football Federation to take what they see as “the appropriate legal effects”.

Moreover, Barca urged PSG to pay the amount they are seeking if Neymar — who is reported to earn 30 million euros after tax for the next five years in Paris — isn’t able to meet their demands.

The club’s latest move comes two days after Neymar fiercely criticised Barcelona’s under-fire board after scoring twice in a stunning home debut as PSG beat Toulouse 6-2 on Sunday.

CelebritiesR. Kelly Accuser Claims He Had Sex With Her At Age 16, Paid To Keep Quiet by TheBlog(op): 8:37pm On Aug 22, 2017
Jerhonda Pace, a 24-year-old woman who says she was a victim of R. Kelly’s abuse has come forward to say she was abused by Kelly when she was a teenager, then was paid to keep quiet.

The singer has been recently accused of keeping women in an abusive “sex cult.”

Jerhonda Pace was just 15 when she met R. Kelly, her musical idol.

Married now with 3 children, Jerhonda said she cut high school every day to attend R. Kelly’s trial on 14 counts of making child pornography.

Jerhonda, in an interview with Buzzfeed revealed all the details of her affair with the singer, including a court case and a settlement.

Although she signed a non-disclosure agreement, Jerhonda said she’s risking being sued so she might help others get out of that situation.

She said:

If I can speak out and I can help them get out of that situation, that’s what I will do.

I didn’t have anybody to speak up on my behalf when I was going through what I was going through with him.

He’s brainwashed them really bad, and it kind of reminds me of Charles Manson.

I just really hope I can help these women out. Kelly needs to be stopped.

Jerhonda, who described herself as a “super-fan” of R. Kelly, said she’d been listening to him since she was 11.

She said:

My family listened to his music, my friends listened to his music, everybody was just in love with the music. WGCI was the biggest supporter — they played him all the time — and it was my favorite radio station.

When R. Kelly was indicted for making child pornography, Jerhonda said her love for him did not fade, as she attended the trial proceedings every day.

She said watching the 26-minute, 39-second video prosecutors alleged depicted R. Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old girl, urinating in her mouth, and ordering her to call him “daddy” was disturbing.

She said she thought: “Well, maybe that’s not the girl. If she would have come forward, I think it would have made a huge difference,” defending her idol in her head.

After R. Kelly was acquitted, Jerhonda, then a 15-year-old spoke to MTV. saying, “They can’t say he likes little girls. They don’t have proof of that. Because he’s innocent now. He’s free.”

Although the MTV article claims she was 18, public records, birth certificate, and driver’s license confirms Jerhonda was 15.

She admits she lied to the reporter because Cook County sheriff’s officers were not admitting anyone under 18 into the trial.

She met R. Kelly when he was walking into the court building, she said. “He seemed like a cool guy, and he would always speak to me when he saw me.”

She got his autograph, too, which she still has in her possession. She said: “He didn’t have anything to sign, and neither did I, but my friend reached into her pocket and found an old bank slip, so I got his autograph on her bank slip. I laminated that.”

In 2009, a friend and employee of R. Kelly friended her on MySpace. The friend invited her to a party the singer was throwing at his mansion.

She lied to her parents to attend the party, she said, telling them she was going to a friend’s house.

There Jerhonda met R. Kelly, she said, where he called her over to the bar and told her he had noticed her at the trial.

Romance8 Reasons Why Short Girls Make The Best Girlfriends by TheBlog(op): 8:19pm On Aug 22, 2017
Short girls make the world a better place. What would the world be without shorts girls? What would classic beauty look like and would true love even exist?

Not only are short girls adorable, it is astounding how so much endowment, wit, intelligence and love fits in a package so exquisitely tiny. And while they have many disadvantages like not being able to reach the top shelf every time they want something from it, and generally being dependent on others for certain thing, they are a treat to date.

They make the most perfect and amazing girlfriends. Below are 8 reasons why you should date a short girl:

Short girls are adorable
Short girls, especially when petite, are super adorable. Everything they do is so cute: When she laughs, and she looks like a little cute child laughing; when she is yelling at you with hips on her hand, but all you see is a little teddy bear trying to stay animated and you just want to pick her up and play with her; When she hits your chest becuase she is mad, but it feels like a tickle because her hand is so small and soft; when she takes a few cocktails and starts misbehaving y because her tiny body can’t really take much alcohol and she is high but she is still cute as hell…the list goes on and on. Basically, what she lacks in height, she makes up for in personality and that makes it hard to not just love her.

Short girls are quite feminine
Not to shade tall girls or anything, but short girls tend to be more proportionate physically and are actually more feminine. Studies have shown that Short women’s increased have more estrogen in their bodies which not only makes them look more feminine, it makes them more sensitive, nurturing, and interested in children and family. Basically, they are naturally wife materials.

Short girls will stick with you forever
Ever wondered why most of the most romantic love stories and classics always feature a short woman? When a short girl gets with you, they have a tendency to stick with you forever. They have so much love to give, they do not necessarily need a great reason to love you because they see past your fears and inadequacies probably because they know that you love them no matter how short they are.

Having sex with short girls is more enjoyable
Yes. It is what it is. Any honest and experienced man who has been with a short girl will let you know that he found it more pleasurable having sex with women who are short. This is mostly because they weigh less and that create room for so many possibilities and experimenting when it comes to sex positions. You can toss them in the air, spin them around, and hold them holding you upside-down by the ankles without necessarily hurting your back. You can be much more adventurous with your sex life with a short girlfriend.

Science/TechnologyGoogle To Release Next Version Of Android Known As Android O by TheBlog(op): 6:05pm On Aug 21, 2017
Google is going to release the next version of Android, currently known as Android O, on August 21. The release date of Android O will coincide with the total solar eclipse. Google plans to have a live stream from New York, which will start at 2.40 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST).

While the next version is known as Android O, but that’s not the name of the software. It’s been widely speculated that Android O will be officially called Oreo. Some even suggests that Google might call the next version of Android as Octopus. So yes, there’s still a lot of confusion about the final name.

At this year’s I/O talked a lot about Android O, so we already know a lot of features coming up in the final version. The new update will bring better battery life, enhanced security features, Picture in Picture (PiP) mode, improved notifications, better audio quality, and much more. Here’s everything you need to know about Android O.

Here are the top confirmed features of Android O:

Background limits
In the next version of Android, Google will be adding a new feature called background limits to extent battery life. This works as a power saving feature to limit background applications, which means the phone’s battery will last longer than it usual does.

Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode
The picture-in-picture mode will simply allow users to continue watching videos while working with other apps. So now you can watch a YouTube video while sending an important email to your boss.

Notification Dots
Android O will allow users to see notifications even if they’ve missed them without pulling the drop down menu from the top of the screen. It’ s basically a small dot that appears on the app icons when there is a new notification. It will only appear in case of an unread notification. Just long press on the unread notification and you’ll notice a pop-up bubble appears in the form of the notification. The feature looks similar to the red badges we’re familiar on Apple’s iOS.

CareerHow To Have A Great Day At Work by TheBlog(op): 5:57pm On Aug 21, 2017
One of the reasons why we dread mornings as much as we do is because of the day at work that lies ahead.

We spend several hours a day, every day, five days a week (if not six), at work. And we could count on our fingers those days among the years that have turned out to be great.

How do we begin to look forward to this mundane routine to actually have a great day at work? Let’s break this down into a few components.

The Night Before
Always prep for the next day the night before. This does more than just help you save time in the morning. You’ll probably be more enthusiastic about putting some thought into what you’d like to wear to work the next day or the lunch you’d like to carry with you (you may want to meal prep something more elaborate the night before). This will give you a head start on the morning, giving you enough time to exercise, meditate, catch up on the news, and do other more rejuvenating things.

The Morning
You may not be a morning person like me..lol. Most organizations do their best work in the daytime, and they expect you to be on board with that. If you start your morning well, you’re more likely to have a better day ahead. There are many ways to promise yourself a good morning, indeed. Apart from setting a routine that you can rely on, you should also schedule some activities for the morning (such as preparing your favourite cup of coffee, or a long walk in the park) that you can actually look forward to when you get out of bed.

The Commute
Not many of us have the privilege of working remotely or from home. Of course, there are many advantages of getting a job close to home. But if that isn’t the case for you, then it’s a good idea to make the most of your daily commute to work. If you’re able to walk to your workplace or even ride a bicycle, then there’s no better way to be give yourself the adrenaline rush that’ll get you pumped up for the day ahead. You’ll also be doing the planet a favour in the process. If you choose to take public transport, you can use your commute time to read, listen to music, catch up with friends and do whatever else to get you in the frame of mind to face the day ahead.

The Work
There are essentially three aspects to this.

1. Why you do what you do: Ask yourself if you’re really doing what you want to be doing. If you don’t think that is, then it’s time for a change. It’s important to follow your heart, but it’s more important to first know exactly what your heart wants. The first thing you need to do in order to have a great day at work is to really like the work that you do.

Health7 Child Safety Principles Every Parent Needs To Know by TheBlog(op): 10:08am On Aug 21, 2017
Bumps and bruises are an inescapable part of childhood. Yet a light injury is only one step away from a dangerous fracture. To help a child avoid serious injury, parents need to follow some simple rules.

Here are 7 principles of child safety to help you protect your baby.

Sleep safety

A baby should sleep on their back. Since 1992, when an official recommendation changed from “sleep on the stomach“ to ”sleep on the back,” the mortality rate from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in the countries of Western Europe has decreased by 3 times.

Quilted blankets with lace can block the baby’s respiratory tract during sleep. A hard mattress and taut elastic fitted sheets are all you need.

A can of Coca-Cola should fit between the crib bars. This distance is optimum for a baby not to get stuck between the bars.

A sleeping baby should be free from scarves, clothes, hats with ties, bibs, pacifiers, or toys with strings.

Fall and injury prevention

Install in your house certified safety gates. When it comes to staircases, they should be placed both at the top and the bottom.

Always buckle children when using high chairs or carriers. When putting your child into the carrier, set it on the floor, not on a chair, table, or other furniture.

If your child moves around the house in a baby walker, watch that they stay away from stairs, heating appliances, and hanging wires.

Put security bars on your windows. They must be provided with emergency release devices in case of fire.

Ensure secure fixing of furniture (especially of high cabinets) and any other things that can tip and fall.

Fire safety

Hide matches and lighters from your children. Don’t keep lighters and other fire sources that look like toys in the house.

Don’t hold a baby while cooking. Watch irons and hair dryers, unplug them after use, and put them in a safe place.

Cook on the back burners, and keep hot food out of a child’s reach. Turn long handles of pans away from the edge.

Reduce the time your child spends next to a hot stove, and install a protective barrier around the stove if possible.

Install a smoke alarm at home — it helps to reduce the risk of death in emergencies by half.

Poison prevention

If you suspect that your child has swallowed any dangerous substance, don’t try to induce vomiting or make the child wash down what they swallowed without consulting a doctor.

More than half of all childhood intoxications are provoked by accidental medication intake. Keep all drugs (even vitamins) out of children’s reach. Don’t call medicine “candy” — it may provoke the child’s interest in them.

Install special locks on the cabinet doors where you keep household detergents and medicines.

Keep small electronics and gadgets that contain lithium batteries away from children. These include car alarms, clocks, remote controls, flameless candles, laser pointers, flashlights, etc.

SportsBarcelona 1–3 Real Madrid Super Cup 2017 Highlights | WATCH by TheBlog(op): 11:40pm On Aug 13, 2017
Real Madrid made light of a red card for Cristiano Ronaldo to deal a further blow to Barcelona by winning 3-1 in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday.

Ronaldo, only introduced as a second-half substitute, was shown two quickfire yellow cards after blasting Madrid into a 2-1 lead with 10 minutes to go.

However, Real extended their advantage with 10 men thanks to a sumptuous late strike from Marco Asensio.

Earlier, Lionel Messi’s penalty had cancelled out Gerard Pique’s own goal as Barca failed to get the early season boost they needed after losing Brazilian star Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for a world record transfer fee.

The sides will meet again in Madrid for the second-leg on Wednesday.

Without Neymar, Barca struggled to find their rhythm going forward as Gerard Deulofeu failed to impress in the role alongside Messi and Luis Suarez up front.

Suarez had the hosts’ best effort of a timid opening half when his driven low volley was collected at the second attempt by Keylor Navas.

At the other end Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s only serious save of the first period came when Gareth Bale’s effort from Isco’s dangerous cross was turned over.

Madrid immediately upped a gear at the start of the second period and were rewarded with the opening goal in a manner that would have delighted most Real fans.

Pique is often Madrid’s chief aggravator, but the Spanish international was left embarrassed as he turned Marcelo’s delivery past the helpless Ter Stegen into his own net.

Only an incredible goal line clearance from Jordi Alba then prevented Dani Carvajal from doubling Madrid’s advantage seconds later as the game began to open up.

CrimeHow To Act When Held At Gunpoint by TheBlog(op): 3:51pm On Aug 13, 2017
If you’ve ever been robbed at gunpoint, you know what it’s like, how they steal your money, your property, and your dignity. You know you could have been killed easily if you said one thing wrong, done one thing they didn’t like.

For those who haven’t, here’s what you need to do if you ever find yourself in this terrible situation.

Giving Them What They Want

- Try not to act angry or weak. They will take even more advantage of you than they already are. Be calm, or at least act calm. Assume they have no qualms about killing you; it’s quite likely that they don’t.

- Do not retaliate! Never forget that you are being held at gunpoint, and could be killed at any moment. You don’t want this theft to escalate into homicide.

- Give them what they want, and do not hold back. After all, which is more important to you: your life or your wallet?

- When they run, call the police, but make sure they are at least one hundred feet away, and/or their weapon is out of range. Take some time to calm yourself down.

Defending Yourself

This method is highly discouraged as it is extremely dangerous and will almost always end up in a homicide.

- Try not to act foolish or weak, they will take more advantage of you than they already are. Be calm, or at least act calm. Assume they have no qualms about killing you; it’s quite likely that they don’t.

- Cooperate. If they tell you to turn around, do so. Again, cooperate, you don’t want them to shoot you. Don’t do anything they don’t tell you to – this will not help you with the escape. One wrong move and you could be shot.

- Try to identify which hand they are using to hold the gun. To do this, don’t make an aggressive turn but try to act like you’re following what they say to do. Once you figure out which hand the gun is in, go to the next step.

The Producer who also declared his intention to run for governor in Imo State said he no longer holds any bitterness towards Wizkid.

He said:

” I am part of Wizkid’s history whether he likes it or not and he cannot write his story without mentioning my name.

I have always respected Wizkid’s hustle from day one. He has a strong will. So far so good, we have settled the misunderstanding between us in 2015 after one of my trips from America.

We are all busy now, so I am no longer worried about whatever people say because at the end of the day, we all have our journey in life and success is the most important thing.

I am no longer bitter at Wizkid, the past is gone.

Health8 Signs That Your Body Is Crying For Help by TheBlog(op): 10:51am On Aug 11, 2017
Our body is a perfect mechanism where lots of things happen at the same time. And sometimes it gives us signs that it needs help which, if ignored, can lead to health issues.

Here are some signals you should always take note of.

1. Insomnia, irritability, and leg cramps

If you have these signs, your body needs magnesium and potassium. To replenish these vital elements, add tomatoes, oranges, bananas, and spinach to your everyday diet.

2. Dry skin

Dryness of the skin may signify a lack of vitamin E. Therefore, you should eat more vegetables, oil, nuts, and fish.

3. Sweet tooth

If you suddenly feel a strong desire to have something sweet, then stress, depression, or exhaustion may be the cause. Your body is asking for glucose. Oblige it, and to avoid gaining weight, better have some dark chocolate or honey.

4. Desire to eat ice

If you find yourself wanting to eat some ice, then you may have anemia — iron deficiency. The best sources of iron are beef, eggs, and molluscs. However, it’s still better to consult a doctor if you want to eat ice and lack energy.
