All the commentators I have watched, have mentioned that Congo's present resurgence is due to the influx of FBs into their team.

We’ve already won 2 CHAN titles with only local players, and our clubs have lifted African trophies at least 5 times since 2000. Mazembe even reached the final of the Club World Cup.

So we have plenty to show for ourselves without relying on foreign-based players.
The reason the Congolese national team is now full of FB players is really a reflection of a low self-esteem mentality—a belief that only players from abroad can succeed.

When was the last time the Nigerian league was truly showcased ? A youth growing in Nigeria has been formatted to believe that regardless of his soccer talent, he has to go abroad to join the superEagle. How ridiculous!

Cameroon performed strongly in the World Cup during the 1980s with a squad made largely of local players. But starting from 1994, after following Nigeria’s model of relying almost exclusively on abroad-based players, their national team’s has looked like a shadow of what it once was on the world stage.

Nigeria has nothing to show for it when it comes to its local league. Not because they lack local players, but because of this deep-rooted mentality that everything abroad is automatically better.

Why Hervé Renard? Why is it that every time an African coach struggles, the first solution people run to is bringing in a white coach? You don’t even give our own people a real chance.
