Kalulu44: Guy, in life do what makes you happy. Cus I'm doing mine. FYI I am also a die hard fan of my state team Enyimba Int'l of Aba, Abia state. Off recent they have been disappointing me, same with our local league clubs that can't do anything in African competition. . So I should continue getting angry over them when I can make myself happy elsewhere. And what concerns me with Congo DR and co. When they, Senegal and co all crashed out. Didn't we talked about them and how inexperience they all are. So we should continue talking about them forever. Abeg my post is about today match, stick with that. If African football conversation comes or better still create the thread and we'll join you to analyse it, thank you. You said Congo and Senegal lost because of "lack of experience." Exactly what experience were they lacking that Croatia had? Funny how an African team loses and the first thing you point to is its shortcomings. But when a European team loses, it's "they should have qualified." That's the mentality I'm talking about. We are the first to put ourselves down. Then we wonder why African football isn't respected. Anyway, enjoy your Portuguese game... and Ronaldo. |

After reading the title, I thought an African was about to talk about the heartbreak of DR Congo, Senegal or Côte d'Ivoire after leading their Round of 16 matches and still ending up eliminated. Instead, here we are having a pity party over European teams.
Honestly, when are we Africans going to start consuming and promoting our own football? As a non-Nigerian, I come to Nairaland hoping to see discussions about Nigerian clubs or African football, but it's Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and the rest all day.
We complain that African football isn't growing, yet we're the first to ignore it. That's the real problem. |

With low ball pressure, Morocco is benefiting from doing nothing And my question is, who in the world would prefer penalties given that penalties are unpredictable |

sweetjohn: Pls stop this nonesense drunkard talk. Nigeria is the best according to you yet was beaten by a stupid team as SA and Dr Congo. Did they tie their legs from scoring and then qualify? A failure will never accept his failure and that’s why he will continue to fail. Calling South Africa or Congo "stupid teams" makes no sense. If they were so "stupid," how did they finish ahead of Nigeria and qualify while Nigeria did not? Nigeria is a football powerhouse because of its talent, but let's be honest: its success relies heavily on players developed abroad. Meanwhile, clubs from South Africa and DR Congo have consistently achieved more on the African club stage. DR Congo's TP Mazembe reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup and even played against Inter Milan. South African clubs have also been regular contenders in African competitions. When was the last time a Nigerian club reached those heights? Before insulting other countries, it's worth looking at the achievements of their domestic leagues. Respect is earned on the field, not through insults. |
