Funke Akindele has officially joined politics and become the PDP deputy governorship candidate of Lagos state.

THE NATION REPORTERS reports that Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele is now a politician and has been named the Peoples Democratic Party deputy governorship candidate of Lagos State.

The actress confirmed her deputy governorship candidacy in a video on her verified Instagram page on Tuesday.

With this position, she had become the running mate of the PDP Lagos State governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor.

In the video she posted on Tuesday, she revealed her reasons for becoming a running mate.

She said, “I saw it as an opportunity to help liberate and improve the wellbeing of our people, particularly the deprived youth, women and the girl child.

“My decision is not just to accept this huge responsibility but to also work tirelessly and complement Jandor’s burning desire to see our dear Lagos live up to its full potentials.”

THE NATION REPORTERS reports that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) said it is ready to call off the over three-month-old strike if only certain conditions are met by the federal government.


The leadership of ASUU said the conditions to be met include the federal government accepting the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) payment platform and also concurring with the 2009 agreement.


This was made known by the national president of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osedeke on Monday during an interview on Channels TV.

THE NATION REPORTERS reports that unknown gunmen have attacked residence of the Osun Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Lasun.

Lasun, in a statement via Twitter on Monday morning, raised alarm that armed men were shooting sporadically in his residence in Ilobu, Irepodun local government area of the State.

The gunmen, who attacked the residence of the gubernatorial candidate at about 2am, reportedly shot at the building located at Oke Ima area of the town.

Further checks revealed that the gunmen launched the attack around 2 am.

The distress message by Lasun read; “Just in: gun men in uniforms are presently in my residence shooting sporadically…”

Sources disclosed that the security agents attached to the building were able to repel the attack with no one injured.

Yussuff, who is a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, was present at the governorship debate organised by Channels Television on Sunday night.

Following the strike embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which has made many students out of their different campuses, a renowned Islamic Institute, Markazud Da'awah has reverted to online Islamic lectures in order to continue uplift the spiritual and social lives of her members.


The online Islamic lectures which will be holding on the official Whatappp Group of Markazud Da'awah is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022.


The first Islamic online lecture which is scheduled to hold on Wednesday by 8:15pm - 9pm will be held on the official Whatappp group of Markazud Dawah.

Alhaji Lukman Abiodun (Eduwisdom) will deliver the first lecture on the topic 'Etiquette of relating with the first days of Dhul Hijjah' as scheduled above.


Sheikh Qomarudeen Ballo will also deliver second lecture on July 23rd, 2022 on the topic 'The Islamic perspective of the new year' by 5:30pm - 7pm.


Members of Markazud Da'awah are therefore urged to participate with rapt attention during the online lectures.

Olori Naomi was seen dancing to popular singer, Kizz Daniel’s trending ‘Buga’ song in a viral video.

Internet users were wowed by the display from the olori seeing as she is also a prophetess and they reacted online.

THE NATION REPORTERS reports that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi’s ex wife, Olori Naomi Silekunola, recently caused a buzz after a video of her went viral.

Olori Naomi, who is known also for her meek nature, surprised a number of social media users with a video of her dancing.

The video which appeared to have been captured by her personal stylist, Luminee, was posted on the internet.

In the video clip, the Ooni’s wife who is also a prophetess was seen dancing to top singer, Kizz Daniel’s trending song, Buga.

Also in the video, the Olori looked very happy as she continued to move to the music and even sing along to the lyrics of the song. One part of the video in particular that left fans surprised was when the prophetess sang along to the part of the song that says: kilo kan mi kan pesin matter, pesin wey don mad’.

Not only did she sing along, Olori Naomi also put one finger to the side of her head to demonstrate the gesture.

Nollywood stars have been thrown into mourning following the demise of a Yoruba movie actor, Gbadebo Osmond.

Yoruba actress, Fausat Abeni, popularly known as Madam Saje, was among the first mourners late Monday.

The veteran actress shared an image of a burning candle on her Instagram page with the caption, “Goodnight Osmond,” accompanied with crying emojis.

Other Nollywood stars such as Yomi Fabiyi, Adeniyi Johnson, and others took to their Instagram pages to mourn the late actor.

Lagos: Over 800 In Attendance As MSSN Ojokoro Area Council Holds Annual Youth Conference



As part of her commitment to eradicate the social vices among Nigerian youths, the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Ojokoro Area Council of Lagos state on Friday organised her annual youth conference.




The youth conference which was tagged 'The Incorruptible Youth' was attended by over over 800 students and youths which was held at Fatigardens beside Cumberland hotel, Shege bus stop in Ojokoro area of Lagos state.


The conference was a positive life changing experience for all students, youths and dignitaries that attended the program.


Findings revealed that the youth conference was filled with thought provoking and highly educative lectures that span through different fields of knowledge which transformed and has greatly helped the participants.


Aside spiritually uplifting lectures, the conference also featured debate competition, match pass, sack race, egg race and many others that were part of the activities of the program which are of benefits to the students and youths.



The students who represented their schools to participate in different segments of the competitions and emerged victoriously were given awards based on their positions.

In the march pass segment for primary schools, Al mimtaz school took first position, Ummul khair Nur &Pry School took second position and Fahmid kiddies academy took third position.



In the march pass segment for secondary schools, Ummul Khair Model School took first position, Ijaye Ojokoro Junior College took second position and The expert college took third position.



In the debate segment for primary schools, Iliam Nur &Pry Sch took first position, Ummul Khair Nur &Primary school took second position and Precious sprog school took third position.

In the debate segment for secondary schools, Ar Rasaq school took first position, The expert college took second position and Ummul Khair Model College took third position.


In the sack race segment for secondary schools, Ummul Khair Model college took first position, Iqrah Comprehensive college took second position and Al mumin School took third position.


In the targeting segment for secondary schools, Al Aliy School took first position, Al mumin school took second position and Ummul khair Model college took third position.

However, the MSSN Ojokoro Area Council, Engineer Mutahir Arogundade disclosed that the youth conference is at educating and admonishing the youths to desist from social vices.


He said: 'Majority of the crimes are being committed by the Youths. Some youths want to get rich at all cost without waiting patiently for Allah’s time. They learn Yahoo Yahoo just to defraud others. Youths must work hard and stop this desperate act of get- rich-quick syndrome. Money will come at the right time when you wait patiently and work.


'The youths are the vanguard of change. They need to see themselves as such. Hence, we have organized this conference to educate the youth to shun all forms of social vices and be a good ambassador. "



Corroborating, the guest lecturer of the conference, Mr Sheriffdeen Kukoyi who delivered lecture on the theme of the conference 'The Incorruptible Youth', admonished participants to always be morally strong enough to withstand temptations.

'The youths should be morally strong enough to withstand temptations. They must under no circumstances not to be temptated to do bad things. For youths to be an incorruptible person, they need to do four things. They must fear Allah, have good friend, be disciplined and must be obedience to Allah, prophet, parents, teachers and everyone," he said.
