King Jaja's son, Sunday married a white woman (Scottish to be exact) and they gave birth to MacPepple (Jeki the 3rd) who was a white man in all ramifications and that's how the Kingdom started having fair princes and princesses. peleson: We don't have empirical evidence those were his wives! Women then wore clothes just as the king himself wore! The king has a white bloodline! King Jaja the 5th! |
Culture › Re: King Jaja Of Opobo And Wives In The 1870s [ Location: Rivers State ] by TheRealAdonye(m): 9:11am On May 21, 2015 |
The only Opobians with Igbo ancestry are the DIRECT descendants of King Jaja which compared to the rest of the Opobo people are very small. I have nothing against the language, Hell, I even speak it. However, saying you don't expect them to take up the language of where they live and what was spoken by their Ancestor, our Ancestor, The language they name their children with (My name is an Ibani one but my father doesn't speak a word), The language they give Titles in (Senibo, AmaopuSenibo, Alabo and Amanyanabo are all Ibani) etc is insulting to say the least. Ihuomadinihu: No igbo dialect is mainstream apart the ones adopted as central igbo dialects. There are opobians with igbo ancestry,i don't expect them to take up Ibani language. |
Culture › Re: King Jaja Of Opobo And Wives In The 1870s [ Location: Rivers State ] by TheRealAdonye(m): 7:39am On May 21, 2015 |
Not all Jajas are direct descendants of King Jaja. A lot of people who accompanied him on the trip to found Opobo took his surname as a sign of respect. 1shortblackboy: the jaja family in opobo are a popular family in rivers state. They bear the ssurname jaja. I know a lot of them. They still produce d Amanyanabo of Opobo till date |
Culture › Re: King Jaja Of Opobo And Wives In The 1870s [ Location: Rivers State ] by TheRealAdonye(m): 7:38am On May 21, 2015 |
The present Amanyanabo of Opobo is a direct descendant of King Jaja. He's the fifth person to seat on the throne. King Jaja was the first. nwaanambra1: where are his blood lineage today? do they still exist? or the British wiped them all out? |

That's true. Our Igbo isn't mainstream but we hear other dialects. And the Igbo we speak was formed because of the trade in Palm oil with the people of Ndoki and Azumini. We learnt the language because of trade. The main language in Opobo is supposed to be Ibani which is akin to what is spoken by the Kalabari but Alas, almost everyone speaks our dialect of Igbo now. However, a conscious effort is being made to bring back Ibani as a language understood and spoken by Opobians. zendy: Some people may not know it but King Jaja of Opobo was an Igbo slave from Orlu in present day Imo state who was sold into slavery. I read somewhere that they still speak some form of Igbo in Opobo. |

*picks Mic* We didn't apply for any function. We were only told to indicate the desired one and that was after the verification test not before. I believe we would be assigned one based on Job Needs after the 6-8 weeks initial training. I don't think it's worth it, tbh.. Besides, ain't no one gat time for that: not Partners at this time when the FY is coming to an end and mos def not me. *drops Mic* crustypearl: Remember there's still one more stage to go o......as Banker said then: you'll still have an Interview with a partner in the function you applied for.... then, you can await offer letter |
