vanitybutiwanti:It is such a parochial view of life that's problematic for someone like me who is Igbo. In our culture, we denigrate such behaviour and strongly believe that only our "Chi" charts the course of our lives, and that whatever level we will attain is not dependent on any man. Yes everyone understands that people kiss ass and do all sorts to curry favours but the ultimate question is this - is such behaviour beneficial or detrimental to society at large? You are unable to rise above individualistic thinking to understand that only when the collective is okay will the individual flourish. On a final note, we have seen IGPs like Tafa Balogun thoroughly disgraced and die as a villain so if you think becoming an IGP is so wonderful, let's check back in a few years. That's how the disgraced criminal called Abba Kyari would also have become IGP one day and people like you will see nothing wrong with it because "it's human nature to kiss ass, steal, kill and do whatever it takes" to get to the top. What you fail to realise is that's a hobesian state of nature which every society must strive to move away from, collectively, if we are ever to become an enlightened and advanced civilisation. I will ignore your comment about kids and whatnot cos it's inconsequential to the argument. |
The servile culture of Yorubas is a big headache to some of us who are not from there. So because someone helped you one time in your life you have to become enslaved to them forever? I don't want to hear loyalty because there's a big difference between being loyal to someone and becoming enslaved to the extent that you cannot tell them hard truths or go against their wish or request because they helped you one time in life. Anyhow, this should serve as a lesson - be wary of people who are quick to shower you with gifts and help that you haven't earned, they might have very sinister reasons, and most times "awoof dey purge belle". Egbetokun by his statement has shown that he is unprofessional and not worthy of the IGP seat he's currently occupying. |
jazzman7711:N50,000 shared to an unidentified 600,000 businesses is what you're bragging about, talking about funding like it's actually something significant? Please what impact can N50K have on any registered business in Nigeria? How is such an amount distributed without adequate information and sensitization of citizens? Anyway, we know you and your likes. Seems you're the last man standing in you people's WhatsApp group cos the rest of your kind have been MIA for a few days now. Na multidimensional poverty be your problem, drop your account let me send you something light for lunch ![]() |
Where, when and how were these companies selected? Is there any website where businesses can apply? Which bank or banks is the FG partnering with to give out these loans? Once there's no transparency, then it's another avenue for embezzlement. What sort of blatant criminality is this? May Tinubu not end Nigeria o ![]() |
djseanjohn77:Without a search warrant? Anyway, Nigeria is a lawless jungle so I'm not really surprised. |
bewla:Which sacrifices have the criminals in power made? This is the same nonsense you guys did and Buhari wasted everyone's 8 years. You've started pushing same rhetoric with Tinubu when it's glaring that he's being backed by foreign powers to the the bidding of world Bank and IMF. You will all learn the hard way! |
Wiifesnatcher:Which subsidy was removed? Lol. Una never wan face truth. |
Didi2d:Lol. Nothing is truly more dangerous than stupid people in large numbers. You and your likes will still vote the failure in 2027 thinking you're doing Igbos or obidients. Fools always think themselves wise. I hope the suffering suffocates you people so you will learn to eschew politics of ethnicity and religion - although I seriously doubt that you people can ever learn no matter what, cos as long as you think you can get your "person" into power regardless of how incompetent they are, you lots probably will. |
Salewa97:You're not making any sense. FG claimed it borrowed billions of dollars, to be repaid by our common wealth, to fund 20% stake in Dangote refinery and suddenly they only paid for 7.2%. You come here talking about support and grow, why should this not be immediately investigated, and how does that stop anything? You lots hate transparency and accountability but you want to develop as a country? Your comment is devoid of logic and common sense. |
Magnumproperty:Another batist using ethnic dogwhistling to redirect issues. What does Alex Otti have to do with a protest Nigerians are planning? Igbos have already told you we're not going to be part of any protests so what exactly is the colour of your problem? |
OriOko88:Those are not the first universities in the world. |
BlindAngel:She manipulated you into getting married, maybe even a relationship. She manipulated you into not naming your own child. Now she's manipulating you using pastor and you've capitulated. You are a weakling unfortunately. She will continue to manipulate you using her tears and other means, and any day you wake up, she will leave you. You brought it upon yourself. I feel sorry for emotionally weak men like you ![]() |
helinues:The bakery owner in this report cited the increasing cost of raw materials as the reason many of their colleagues are packing up. Of course you saw that but in your WhatsApp group, you have been told to apply deflectionary tactics on every thread that indicts Tinubu your pay master. Or to say toh. But trust me, it's no longer working ![]() |
Segzy19:. He's been doing charity works like this since even before he ever joined Nigerian politics. You have refused to open your ears and mind, and you will continue to suffer the consequences. |
beyondPen:Lol. You're already fishing for excuse to vote the drug bagman in 2027. Let me give you more excuses: Igbos abused Soyinka, Igbos said they own Lagos, Igbos said Yorubas supported Tinubu, Omo wa ni o, etc. Una suffering just dey warm up for that country walahi 🤣 |
I couldn't go past the first minute of the clip. Anyway, it is Nigeria so nothing will happen. Same way an outgoing senator said he encroached upon his wife to get favorable judgements for his friend's and did Nigerians do anything? The answer is no. I pray the politicians continue in this trajectory so that the people will be pushed to the wall, even if it takes another 100years. |
AfeezShomorin:You're already warming your excuses up to vote the drug bagman again 2027 ![]() Even if the evidence slams into your face, you still won't recognise it. The evidence is clear if you look at the statistics both men had during their 8 year stint as governors, but like all batidiots, you hate statistics as much as you hate due process. People like you exist in Nigeria in tens of millions, so that tells me there is no hope in sight for the country. Keep enjoying emilokan in peace but don't ever repeat the rubbish you just sprouted. ![]() |
Madridguy is prancing about on this thread with IPOB propaganda instead of facing the issue at hand. Despite numerous denials by IPOB about the terrorism bedevilling the SE, you guys insist it's them. The country's security architecture has failed because the terrorists have actually overpowered the armed forces and police, as well as citizens, to the extent that in many large swathes of Nigerian territory today, citizens are paying obeisance to terrorists, even some governors are doing same. It's a shame how much the country has deteriorated since the unfortunate Buhari happened to Nigeria, same Buhari people like that dolt and his fellow zombies sang his praises. |
sulaak:Your 2nd paragraph I agree with. The 1st, not at all. Unless you're of the school of thought of "na statistics we go chop?", the stats are clear that GEJ did relatively well on some key metrics like inflation, GDP growth, unemployment rates, etc. So no, you cannot lump OBJ, Yaradua and GEJ with a complete failure and disaster like Buhari. Tinubu we cannot really say until his tenure has elapsed but the early signs are looking really bad. To your statement about not choosing leaders based on ethnicity or religion, while that is objectively ideal, in a country with multiple ethnic groups numbering 10s of millions, the diversity has to be carefully managed. Things like rotation of power, shared government, etc are viable ways of managing that diversity so as to ease certain primal fears and apprehensions, whether real or imagined. As for the solution, the truth is that the oppressors WILL NOT willingly relinquish all their power and privileges for whatever ideal the citizenry hope for. So you know what this means - it can only be taken by force by a true People's revolution. Will Nigerians ever unite to make it happen? That's the million dollar question. As always, time will tell. |
sulaak:But APC won in all of the Yoruba states barring Lagos so your assertion is false. Meanwhile, nothing in my post suggests what you're saying so I wonder where it's coming from? I know for a fact that a significant number of Yorubas did not vote for the kleptomaniac and drug bag man called Tinubu, and that's good enough for me. What you should be more worried about is why any normal human being would vote for APC in the 2023 presidential elections after the disaster Buhari brought upon the country, especially knowing fully well that Tinubu orchestrated his emergence. You should be really worried that despite the current overwhelming hardship, some folks will still be swayed by ethnic and religious sentiments when another presidential election comes around. Igbos have always mostly voted for a president who is objectively the best candidate in elections, at least in the current democratic dispensation but when the rain falls, we are not spared too. So, no, Dele is not trying to say that Igbos are immune to evil govt, just that we are used to being schemed out in everything govt in Nigeria, hence, we have learnt and now excel at being self sufficient. Same cannot be objectively said about other major ethnic groups, and this is with all due respect. If you must apply interpretation, make sure you have full understanding and grasp of the issue. Cheers. |
sulaak:Lol, zero thinking, just regurgitating the same tripe. We're used to it so no shaking. Meanwhile, those that have enjoyed political power and are enjoying power, how has it helped their people? By your logic, we can excuse the SE for the issues ravaging our society today, but what's the excuse of the North and SW who have so far benefited from the unjust and inequitable country called Nigeria? The north is being ravaged by extreme poverty while the SW isn't faring much better (oya retort with Lagos in a typical zombified manner ).Keep gloating over your false sense of power while the criminals and evil men you call your leaders continue to loot your common wealth. By the time you come to your senses, it would have been too late, and you'll be gnashing your teeth in regret. Until then keep gloating on social media, throwing vitriol at Igbos that have done nothing but love Nigeria (oya tell me about Nzeogwu at this juncture like the rambunctious loon you are). I will not bother replying whatever trash you quote me further with. |
kedeojo:And the "smart" politics by the North has made it an eldorado? Or the omo wa ni politics of the Yorubas has made SW eldorado too? You people think this is a matter of I win you, ela oju kan. Una suffering never even start walahi ![]() |
GloriousGbola:Again, the bigot in you jumps out once you thought OP is Igbo. Why? On a thread that clearly mentions when each of the projects was initiated? See how everyone on this thread is rightfully condemning govt waste but you came here to measure tribal d.icks? Your mind must be such a dark place, kai! |
sulaak:Lol. So Nigeria's problem now is unitary government ehn? Your pain is that he talked about Igbos in a positive light ![]() Dele has offered solutions in his books, countless videos and writings so talk another thing. You have no point but are quickly aggravated once Igbos are mentioned, typical of the average Nigerian. Igbo hate will consume you and your ilks in due course ![]() |
That's how evil this country is. An innocent person can be randomly kidnapped by the security forces, held for years without any charges and sometimes they die in custody. Nothing ever happens and life goes on. What a country! |
RhinoChest:Yes o, because of one Aisha Yusuf, please vote the worst human beings you can find in the next election. Vote the most incompetent and vile people on the ballot to pepper Labour, Peter Obi and Igbos. In the end when the chickens come home to roost, you and your family will not be spared. |
See how some animals have already started mentioning Igbo and Nnamdi Kanu. Too many useless twaddles on here! Meanwhile to the matter at hand, it was obvious from the getgo that Nigeria has no strong case against the man. They used their usual gestapo style of kidnap, claim arrest and start fishing for incriminating evidence but it cannot work in this case because the man is not a Nigerian. The incompetence and folly of this govt and its appointees is too glaring to ignore, what a calamity! |
lekonso:Lmao. I feel your pain ![]() No let Igbos matter kpai you o. Logout of nairaland, go outside and touch grass. |
KingLennon:This is for small, unenlightened minds, and the sad fact is that this is how the overwhelming majority of Nigerians think. And this is the same reason Nigeria cannot make any reasonable progress to join our counterparts in the 21st century. Until we have a majority of Nigerians become enlightened (not talking about "educated" and until we customise this so-called "democracy" to fit out peculiarities as a people, we will remain in the 19th century.I rest my case. |
raskymonojendor:I never hear other coups that happened in Nigeria tagged to the tribes of the coup plotters. Never heard Fulani coup, Tiv coup, Kanuri coup, etc. Everywhere on earth, we know coups are a purely military affair. But you ignorant, incorrigible folks insist the 1966 coup was an Igbo coup. I hope the country called Britain falls to the level of Greece and Cyprus in my life time because they are to blame for most of the events that historically led to the genocide of my people, including the media propaganda. Meanwhile, until that genocide is revisited, and a proper truth and reconciliation programme is done, Nigeria cannot really move forward. No be curse but that's how the laws of nature works. Healing must take place before anything is rejuvenated. |
Willed042:And I also never mentioned anywhere that you claimed to be one. If you have a point, make it and stop being a coward. I won't bother responding to you anymore too. |
