2) Smart/intelligent people are good people.

I used to think very smart people ( professors, lecturers, doctors, lawyers etc) were the best kind of people to associate with and learn from and look up to. I was brought back to reality after observing the corruption, power struggles and a whole lot of vices amongst the senior staff of a particular prestigious institution I used to attend. I heard from very reliable sources of how a provost forced all the graduating students of a particular set to pay him in cash inside his office, a certain sizeable illegal amount before they could process their clearance. This man has more degrees than a standard thermometer. This is just one of the things that cleared my eyes

I've since learnt to look beyond academic prowess, achievements, popularity, and good social standing in judging people.

I'll go first. Here are my shattered beliefs

1) The Universe/World/Society likes and rewards nice/kind/gentle/soft/easy going people.

Lol. In my experience, these kinds of people are rather easy targets for manipulators. I'm talking about fckboys, abusive people, narcissists, control freaks, beggars, emotional scammers etc. They are the kind of people friends and family members will concoct tales for to borrow money from and never return, or will endure an abusive marriage or forgive a business partner that ripped them off of millions. They are the type of people to say Yes to things they don't really want to do to 'keep the peace' or fulfill societal obligations

IMPORTANT NOTE. If you are one of these people I described, you need to learn about how to identify manipulative behaviours as fast as you can and learn to say NO to anything that is not in your interest or when to say enough is enough and damn the consequences. I recommend you study human psychology and read books, watch YouTube videos on this subject. Basically, learn how to protect yourself and put yourself first!!


The more feared/notorious you are, the more chances you'll be respected and not messed with by other people. A lesson I learnt bitterly
