For those who don't know, there is an ongoing issue in Nigeria that many are ot aware of. Based on an article via WSJ See the link here:http://www.wsj.com/articles/norway-oil-fund-drops-chinese-company-over-corruption-fears-1452162848 the botched CCTV project involving ZTE and their local partners should in fact be treated on a par with the on-going "Dasukigate", which can be summarized as a case of "security funds divergence"; this divergence of funds otherwise earmarked to bolster the country's fight against terrorism has led to the loss of hundreds of military and civilian lives especially in the North Eastern part of the country, and also in Abuja, which has come under several deadly attacks over the past few years with little or no leads as to the capture of the attackers. Interestingly, Zambia, another African country where ZTE operates, terminated a $210 million CCTV contract with the company in 2013 because of alleged corruption. More recently, on the 7th of January this year, the largest sovereign fund in the world, Norway's $820 billion oil fund blacklisted ZTE due to concerns about corruption. The company was excluded on the basis of a recommendation from the fund's own ethics council which confirmed that ZTE is facing corruption charges and or investigation in 18 countries around the world including Nigeria. It is therefore imperative that the federal government avoids the errors and pitfalls of the last administration by ensuring that relevant government agencies carry out their due diligence exercises in the selection of project contractors. This will not only save increasingly scarce financial resources, but also the lives of innocent Nigerians both military and civilian, who are the unfortunate victims of the callous actions of compromised foreign contractors and their local partners |
It was Christmas a few days ago but I still feel a lot cherry! I have eaten so much in the past 72 hours and I don't think I'm going to be slowing down anytime soon. I mean, you have worked hard all year to not live a little and get a breather -- TURN UP! Another thing that makes this season wonderful is giving gifts to loved ones, well, and receiving as well. It is always heartwarming to see a sibling's face lit up when he/she receives and unwraps a gift. Fewer things gladden the heart more than that moment. Tecno reminded me of this, seeing people's responses to the digital Christmas cards and gifts they received on behalf of loved ones. I was worried about not having enough to get the people I love expensive things that'd get them elated. What the gift is worth is not usually important but who they are receiving these gifts from, and that the person thought it was important to do so. The ad popped up on my timeline. Tecno asked people to tweet them the handle of their loved ones, those they wanted to receive a surprise this season. Christmas cards and gift cards were given to the people that were mentioned. I must say, it was different and a thoughtful thing to do for others this season. Kudos to Tecno for doing so. This was one of my favourite cards. Compliments of the season guys!

hmmn, let me think, i m coming Modified: I have actually asked a question similar to this, and I took all the answers to see which blog will help me. And not to sound gender biased, but MISSTECHY does it for me, that blog is one of the few blogs I respect, the way she breaks down her reviews surprises me, even down to her video reviews, I love how she can make everything fun and interesting. Honestly, I can read a long phone review on MissTechy (I don't like reading long articles) than on any other Nigerian tech blog.. No offence |
Christmas is in the air guys! Are you feeling the christmas spirit? Yes? No? Anyway. A lot of brands are leveraging on the season and sharing all the love to everyone. Konga, Tecno, Jumia, Sterling Bank… One needs to be on the lookout and not miss out on all of these opportunities. On my way to work today, I stumbled on Tecno’s blue Christmas promo in 3CHUB. I walked in to see what was happening, because a lot of people were gathered around the store. Apparently, all you have to do is buy any Tecno smart phone and you could win either a microwave, fridge or Iron. Once you buy a Tecno smartphone you receive a raffle ticket, so you automatically enter for a draw and you could be selected and cart away one those items. The Promo ends tomorrow. Well, I am saving up for Christmas turnup, so I'll pass. I might change my mind sha, I wouldn’t mind getting a new fridge this Christmas, since I only just moved to a new apartment. If you are interested in the promo, you should visit 3CHUB tomorrow. |
There’s a reward for hard work and Tecno Mobile, Nigeria’s leading OEM vendor has been reaping its rewards in double folds. It all started with a revolutionary product, Tecno Phantom Z being launched in the second quarter (Q2, 2014) of last year. Its market acceptance, excellent review ratings and campaign ripple effects were far reaching. Clearly, industry regulators, end users (and I beg to add, even competition) were impressed with the smart phone little wonder it was crowned “The smart phone of the Year (2014)” by Ghana’s equivalent of NCC. And when you think Tecno Mobile has gotten enough recognition, Nigeria Mobile Economy Summit and Exhibition (NiMES) 2015 join the growing list of telecoms player to endorse Tecno. “Customers love Tecno Mobile…” at least that’s what NiMES believes and to make bold of that claim, they rewarded TECNO Mobile the “Most customer-centric smart phone 2015” In line to hand over the award to Tecno representative at the event was the Director of Public Affairs, NCC, Mr. Tony Ojobo. The Public Affairs boss, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) reiterated the importance of access to mobile technology as a driver of growth in mobile economy. Notable attendees at the Shell Nigeria Hall, MUSON Center, Onikan event were the CEO, Teledom Group Mr.Emmanuel Ekuwem, Jovago Nigeria boss, Kushal Dutta and Google Country manager, Mrs. Juliet Chiazor amongst others. |
